I'm having an issue with res hacker, Using the guide here about changing the boot screen it says to use 1, 8, and 10 (for pro) but i get numbers 1 - 8 then 13 - 15 i'm missing from 9 to 12, is there something wrong with my file? i've tried with both the original ntoskrnl from source disc, and the modified one from my sp3 slipstream. Also, is the $39.95 price worth that program? Or should i stick with res hacker?

I'm having a bit of an issue i'm hoping someone can help me out with. I want to make a custom XP with everything from whats installed to the bootscreen. Now this guide here (granted it's kinda old) http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/view/web/51/ says i need ntkrpamp.exe as i have 3GB of RAM and 512mb of video ram (which i've been told counts) and a dual core processor Now i can find ntoskrnl.exe and ntkrnlmp.exe but not the other two (which i believe i need) can someone help me out? Also, I heard you need a dualcore fix for Windows XP is there an addon i can use to put that in with so i don't need to do it post. Or is the dualcore fix just a farce?

Hi, first off does the UXtheme patcher built into nLite work on SP3? And secondly, how can i apply a custom bootscreen, install screen, and icons? (i know how to do themes.) Any help on this matter would be great! Also i have a new bliss wallpaper how would i replace that in the i386 folder?

Working on it as i type this, I'll let you know if it works or not, If it doesn't work for this, Then i know it's some modifications i did. Well it worked like a charm. Guess my XP SP3 disc is an upgrade But at least i have another working serial. Thanks for all your help, I would have never figured this out. Ehh.. I don't speak german.. I mean i know a few words, but thats it tried using google translate. But it confuses my american brain haha.. But from what i saw student versions are upgrades only Which is strange because i have a student version, But it installed normally Although XP was on that machine before, Could that be why? EDIT: on it it said something about setup.ini folder and it's contents. need to look like this (or close) Mine look like this I'll try changing the number at the end to 007 (retail) maybe it'll work, Else i need to go back to my XP SP2 CD and remake a SP3 slipstream haha.. I was just about to upload that because i thought of that haha... But it's not that i think, In virtual box it tells me it's an upgrade an no version of Windows was detected so it can not upgrade. i'll attach a screenshot as well as my last session.ini LAST_SESSION.INI

I just made a Windows XP pro CD and removed a lot of things to make it easy on resources. But now it thinks it's an upgrade version.. Any ideas on what i might have done wrong? LAST_SESSION.INI

I am working on a computer thats old, And it will ONLY be used to playing old kids games for my younger brother, It will never connect to the internet, So would it be safe to remove everything in the "Network" Section of the components list? Also, I really don't wanna have to call MS to activate Windows when it'll never need to connect to the internet for updates or anything. Is there a way i can remove the need to do that? EDIT: Just thought, Is it even legal to remove the Windows activation? If not please disregard that i said that.

I have been thinking about removing XP's default Defrag tool but i don't know if it's wise or what program i should use to replace it. Could anyone give me a suggestion?

Trying to free up as much space as i can is all. Plus i am just tinkering out of boredom haha. But, i have Motherboard (nForce) Sound card, Ethernet, Videocard, and Media reader drivers. As well as Intel drivers. (the gateway site said i need though, though i have the nForce drivers) I have a standard keyboard (though it has extra buttons on it) and a USB mouse. Is there anything i shouldn't touch in the drivers section? Or can it all go cause i have these drivers?

And replace them with the ones for everything on my computer. I know everything in my computer and have the drivers. Could i just integrate those and remove all others? Or would that cause issues? If you know some would cause issues if i removed them could you please name them. Thanks EDIT: Also the Asynchrous Transfer Mode. I've not idea what an ATM service is, Would it be safe to remove? EDIT2: I tested it with Virtual Box with my motherboard (nForce) drivers, And i selected to use SATA as the hard drive but it told me no hard drive detected. Does that mean i messed up the driver installation in nLite? That i need the Intel ones? Or does it mean that since it's not my actual motherboard being emulated it's just messing up?
