  1. Hi There! I am no computer whiz & am actually in this forum looking for answers on something Im having an issue with but I happen to have seen you're question & I just went through this same thing. I think...First, what is the error that you are getting when it comes up that the installation cant complete?? that would be helpful info to give....but again, I dont know if you are having the same problem as I was but I had gone from IE7 to IE8 & did the Service Pack 3 upgrade on the same day, but after a few days I hated the IE8 with all the issues, so I removed it, & then I couldnt go back to or reinstall IE7 either. It wouldnt install...but finally after reading Windows help area, I went & removed the Service Pack 3 with the Windows Installer in the "Add Remove Programs", along with any IE edition & then I installed IE7 first, ...& it completed, & then I went to Windows & did the Service Pack 3 upgrade again & it all worked for me. So,...you may want to try removing the SP3 that you already loaded & make sure any IE is removed & then install the IE7 first & then reinstall the SP3....It might not hurt to try it...but again...I really am no computer whiz by any means this is just what worked for me, but I thought Id share my experience & info in hopes that maybe it will help a little. I have an IE7 download link too if you need it. Just also remember that If you are going to totally remove any IE program to be sure to save an IE7 downlaod to you're desktop or to a flashdrive so you have to install when you have no browser or internet connection. ** Also...have you gone to www.support.microsoft.com. You can find alot of good info there by typing in the error you're having into their "search their site" area or you can email Microsoft directly for assistance if needed. Anyway, hope you get it fixed. Sorry that I dont have more of a definite resolution for you but I didnt want you left with no response at all & hope the people here dont leave my issue / post with no response!! Good Luck!! Cj
  2. Oh PLEASE..?? Can Someone Help??? Im So Frustrated & Dont Know Whats Wrong. I Have Spent Two Days Now Searching Every Website Out there for Help & Really Hope Someone Here will Come Thru for me... Please??..I am Not Computer Savvy so Please bare with me ...I'll explain the best I can. Okay, My Mother was having issues with her laptop....(She is on Windows XP with Service Pack 3) First, when she would turn it on everything was real slow..too slow,..the start up & all the desktop icons would take forever to load,...but then when she would go onto Internet Explorer 7 or AOL, she would get on but then things wouldnt open or they would freeze & then she would get thrown off. So, after two weeks of this, she tried doing cleanups, defrags & Performing the Disc Error Checking of the C drive, to no avail, so then she decided try to do a System Restore to see if she could go back to an earlier date, & well, first some restore points that she made werent even available or there, but then she tried one that was available & it went through the process but came back saying it was not successful at completing the restoration & so then she decided to do the F8 to go back to the last best configuration, but that didnt seem to do anything, nothing seemed to change, so then for some reason she decided to reinstall IE7 as well as remove & reinstall AOL & the IE7 seemed to go okay..now...at first she kept getting a message saying that it was enabled without add on's, but she added some toolbars & it seemed to have made it go away for some reason??(..still dont know why or what that was even about??) but then she tried to reinstall the AOL, & during installation from the AOL disc, a message comes up as follows: C:/WINDOWS\System32\Ole2.dll is not a valid windows Image. Please Check this Against you're installation diskette & so I went into the C drive's System 32 folder for her & took a look & the Ole2.dll is there & when I right click on it it gives me the option to Register it, & so I did that, but it said it cannot be completed??? I dont know if maybe this is a damaged file & thats why that message happens but I have no clue what to do or what is wrong!!?? IE7 is still letting her get online..at times, sometimes it doesnt & sometimes she gets thrown off. We then tried reinstalling AOL again & ignoring the message because online at some site it said that this message can be ignored, but ignoring it didnt work...we let AOL continue to install but when it was done it wouldnt let us sign on. Im not computer literate enough to help her with this & am hoping someone out there can give me some information & tell me exactly what to do or try....I would be so grateful Hey...just to note just incase its important..the laptop she is on is set up on a wireless network to her main Desktop computer which is working perfectly fine. I'd REALLY REALLY appreciate ANY Info or Assistance any of you knowledgable people out there can provide!!!!! Corey..a.k.a Cj
