Thanks for the help. I'm trying those now. You are correct, it absolutely does not work. (I tried) Thanks again. Caspean

In particular the releases of yumeyao might be of interest. You can find them here and here. I finally got time to update my disk and I'm stuck on something most of you will probably find overly simple... I downloaded yumeyao's AIO release "DotNetFXAIO_40F_20111019_Addon_ENU.cab" but I'm not sure where to put the file. Since it's a cab do I put it in HFCABS? Or do I put it in the HFAAO directory since it's an addon? Note: I don't currently have a HFAAO directory, so if I create one will the software automatically look for the files in it and use them? Sorry for the basic questions, I don't get to update my disk very often. Thanks, Caspean

Thank you both for the advice. I will definitely take a look at the RyanVM board. Thanks again. Caspean

    .Net and HFSLIP

I'll start by saying I'm a novice with HFSLIP at best, but I have used it for a couple years. I decided I'd like to make a more up to date disk. XP Pro -- 32bit -- SP3 I downloaded the latest beta from Mimo's site. I used the batch downloader from:http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/143720-batch-hotfix-downloading/ I used Mimo's file checker and corrected all the errors. I got right up to where I use to use the old dot net all-in-one creator from the MSFN forums, but found it was discontinued. I'd like to integrate all of the .net environments, but I'm not sure what the best method of doing so is. Does anyone have any advice? A link to a newer all-in-one creator? Alternatively, how to deal with each (1.1, 2, 3, 3.5, 4) version and the associated service packs and hotfixes? I thought about adding this question to the .net question that is within the last 10 threads on this forum, but it was very old and I didn't want to thread-jack someone else. Thank you, Caspean
  5. I'm trying to create a .NET all in one installer for XP, but I'm having a bit of difficulty understanding the instructions. I've downloaded the following files: I've edited the _SNMsynth.ini file as follows: I get the following error: I'm assuming I need to edit one of the following? However I'm a bit confused as to what needs edited. In addition are the settings I've changed correct for use with HFSLIP? The instructions mention that it can be used with HFSLIP but I'm not sure which settings I would need to use to make it so. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks, C
  6. I believe I am having the exact same problem, although I had thought my install was working perfectly I believe that my use of NLite to create an unattended ISO after using HFSLIP hid this issue. I think NLite must suppress the error messages on install. Is this an issue? Are these files important? If this does create an issue is there a workaround for this? Any advice is greatly appreciated, Caspean edit: I discovered this issue while building a flashdrive installer. The post is on a different board on this forum. It's only a few posts long if anyone is interested: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?s=&amp...st&p=861854
  7. Based on what you wrote I thought I'd play around with this and see if I could figure out if anything is being deleted. I reformatted the flashdrive with WinSetupFromUSB 0.2.1 (HP format Tool). Then I put in my installation CD and ran WinSetupFromUSB with the default settings. The flashdrive Info (before attempting an install): 7602 Files 187 Folders 811,129,730 bytes advpack.mui and ieframe.mui are not present, but these files of similar name are: G:\$WIN_NT$.~LS\I386\IEFRAME.DL_ G:\$WIN_NT$.~LS\I386\IEFRAME.MU_ G:\$WIN_NT$.~LS\I386\ADVPACK.DL_ G:\$WIN_NT$.~LS\I386\ADVPACK.MU_ During the first stage of the two part install I get each of the following errors one time: (after NTFS formatting, when the files are copied, before reboot) and I tried the retry option several times on both, it failed every time. So used the ESC option to skip the file and continue with the install. I completed both steps of the install and removed the flashdrive and inserted it back into the machine it was formatted on. These are the characteristics after installation: 7602 Files 187 Folders 811,129,730 bytes advpack.mui and ieframe.mui are not present, but these files of similar name are: G:\$WIN_NT$.~LS\I386\IEFRAME.DL_ G:\$WIN_NT$.~LS\I386\IEFRAME.MU_ G:\$WIN_NT$.~LS\I386\ADVPACK.DL_ G:\$WIN_NT$.~LS\I386\ADVPACK.MU_ They appear to be identical, so I would say no files are deleted. So I decided to take a look around and see if I could find out what's going on. What I came up with this this: IE7 Slipstream to SP3 - Missing advpack.mui and ieframe.mui This is basically the same setup as my disk, but I go on to use NLite afterward to create an unattended ISO. So to make a long story short, I would have to agree with your original assessment that this is not an issue with WinSetupFromUSB. My guess would be that NLite is suppressing the error messages on install, which is disheartening. The next time I update my disk I will create an ISO in HFSLIP and test it before moving on to NLite. Caspean
  8. No, no error. I've installed from this CD a few dozen times and never gotten an error of any kind. Unless NLite automatically suppresses errors I'm not sure why that would be. This does resolve the problem. Thanks, ss3
  9. No I can't find these files on the flashdrive. I do find similarly named files as follows: G:\$WIN_NT$.~LS\I386\IEFRAME.DL_ G:\$WIN_NT$.~LS\I386\IEFRAME.MU_ G:\$WIN_NT$.~LS\I386\ADVPACK.DL_ G:\$WIN_NT$.~LS\I386\ADVPACK.MU_ Text Mode; First I partition the drive, then format, then it copies the setup files. During the copy of setup files is when I get these errors. Attached. After everything installs it seems to work, but it worries me a bit that I get those error messages. Thanks, Caspean TXTSETUP.zip
  10. I think I must be doing something incorrectly. I get the following when setup tries to copies files. and The source CD I'm using is a disk that has been modified with both HFSLIP and NLite. I thought this could be used in conjunction with those two pieces of software, was I mistaken? Thanks, Caspean
  11. Thanks for quick response and advice. It's a good place for me to start, I'll give it a shot. Thanks, Caspean
  12. It's awesome that you're making these silent installers for everyone. If possible would you share the knowledge of how you've made this one for Azureus/Vuze? I've been playing with all this stuff for about a month now, mostly as an educational tool, I'm just trying to learn how to do it. I've created a lot of silent installers over the past few weeks, but Vuze has me baffled. I was going to throw together an autoit script, but then I stumbled upon this thread and saw that you were making it work and I figured it never hurts to ask someone for advice. I hope you'll consider sharing the knowledge. Thanks, Caspean
  13. I can confirm that you are both correct. Running the modifype on all the switchless installers I created has solved the problem, I no longer get that error message. Everything seems to be installing perfectly now. From what I've read on the net there are really a few things that can cause this error. In my case this was the solution. This same error can occur when a computer has any of the following: malfunctioning PSU, hardrive, RAM, CD/DVD drive or a bad install disc. In my case none of these five made sense since it was happening on multiple machines. I only mention it so if someone has this issue in the future and this either doesn't apply to them or fails to resolve the issue for them, they can look into these other possibilities. Thank you both for responding so quickly. I really appreciate the help.
  14. Oh... I was thinking there was going to be some long involved process. I'll write a batch file to process all the files in the folder. I already made a backup of them before renaming them. I'll give this a shot and then post back. I did do some searching around the web today before you guys posted and I think you've both hit the nail on the head, but I'll post back my results. Thanks to both of you
  15. I'll test anything you like, I'm just here to learn. Only one tiny problem, how do I run modifype on the files in the hfguirunonce folder? I'm a n00b, go easy on me.
