  1. On unattended.msfn.org/xp/wfp.htm I think its saying I can use either the modified sfc file or just add the registry key as directed. Am I reading this right, or are both required?
  2. Also, if one puts this cab in the source dir, is it also required that wfp be disabled, or will wfp not be a factor if this is in the source for the windows installation?
  3. Concurrent sessions -- I understand the advantage of being able to log in from a remote terminal and also log in at the local term at the same time. Are there any other uses for this that I'm missing? Gai-jin
  4. I don't know about oem, but I had this happen with a couple of MS retail products, and a quick call to MS got me replacment discs in the mail. They asked for the CD SET number or Part number from the packaging, and charged something like $30 for replacements, but it was better than buying a new xp pro full for $199.
  5. I want to use some programs on my autoinstall cd which can be copied directly w/o a setup program. (i.e. trillian) I also want to place shortcuts in the start menu for these. Is there some way to do this with either a variable for system drive or with the shortcut being created during setup so that it will point to %systemdrive%\program files\trillian\trillian.exe ? Thanks Gai-jin
  6. Nice! didnt' know these tools were available. Almost just what I'd been looking for. I wish it would import directly so as to maintain proper times/dates on the messages. Also, I'd really like a utility for my pocketpc that will sync mail from some program other than outlook. would love to be able to use gmail as my main email, or even some other client, but I'm rather bound to outlook at the moment. gai-jin
  7. If they're going to support auto forwarding I don't see why they wouldn't support pop/imap. Losing the ad revenue either way i should think. Then again, i suppose for forwarding, it wouldn't take much for adsense to just put the ads at the bottom of your email before it forwards it... hmm...
  8. It is not completely dependent on activex. Works with most browsers other than opera from what I understand, including mozilla firefox. I suspect you, as did I, have opera set to identify itself as IE6, which is why it says it needs active x. set opera to identify as netscape or such, clear your cache, and you should be able to get in. Mind you, the page doesn't load quite right, but you can at least get in. Also, they've said they are working on a full HTML only version which will be available in the future, as well as the ability to import contacts. Didn't say anything about importing email though, unfortunately. Gai-jin
  9. I think this is a given, and probably sooner rather than later.
  10. I've asked already for import of contacts and email from outlook. I've got 3 years of email I'd love to import and make searchable. Also would love to see Someone (Not likely google) setup a plugin of some kind to sync Gmail to my Pocket PC. And a google desktop client. Wouldn't take much, a stand alone version of the activeX client they use currently. Would still have to be connected to the web, but something other than a standard Ie window would be nice.
  11. I want it to re-format the partition which currently has windows installed. It looks like if I use repartition No and autopartition yes, then it won't overwrite an exisiting windows install? Gai-jin
  12. And, for those of us with yahoo mail plus and the 2GB upgrade, they now have no ads. Gai-jin
  13. Leeta: Feeling like pouting tonight, are we? If you'll notice, you were the 4th person who posted in the thread that said they wanted one, but becca did say early on that one person (gosh) had pm'd her and was in as well. So you were indeed the 5th person to ask for one of 4 invites. Gai-jin
  14. My ISP uses yahoo's mail system, and if I didn't already own my own domain and have a spam solution server side that is working great, I'd be using the yahoo system. It's amazing how flexible they've become. They've integrated a spammotel (www.spammotel.com) like feature, where you can create dummy sub addresses to give out to everyone who asks, that way if you do start getting spam on any one of those you can just turn off that sub address. Along with the spam filtering which seems to be getting better and better as I tell it when something does slip thru. Try it out. I don't know if the basic yahoo mail has all these features, but the plus which I get as part of my ISP svc is really well done. Gai-jin
  15. I've got a great working unattended install cd thanks to the help here and the tutorial, but now have one other question. I designed this initially to repartition the drive, but I'd like to use this on an HP computer which shipped with XP originally. This system has a 'hidden' partition which holds all of the system restore information, instead of oem restore cd's. If I choose repartition=Yes, I'm afraid it will wipe out this hidden partition as well. So, if I choose repartition=No in the winnt.sif, will it reformat the existing windows partition and reinstall over that partition? I just want to ensure it won't damage the hidden partition, in case we have trouble and need to go back to OEM restore. Thanks! Gai-jin
  16. SBC Had 6.0 MB for $45 up until recently. Now they lowered the price and speed, but I've still got the older plan. Still can get 3.0 for $37 though, or 1.5 for $27, not too shabby. And of course, if anyone in IL wants to sign up, PM me I'll take care of ya. Gai-jin
  17. Thanks. I re-copied the entire CD into my source dir, and this did correct the problem. Didn't see the reply sooner, Probably could have just re-copied the NTLDR file. oh well. Thanks for the help y'all!
  18. Still no luck. can't be the boot img at this point. . . What could I have done wrong in creating the folder. bad files in i386, or ? ?
  19. Does the boot img not have to pass switches for an unattended setup? I thought perhaps it did, so didn't want to try a different img. will try that now.
  20. The Nero created iso didn't work either . same results. when I press any key, it says CDBOOT: Couldn't Find NTLDR Any suggestions would be appreciated
  21. I have used the batch file from the tutorial twice to create the image. I'm using nero to burn to image recorder, trying to create an iso that way. hopefully it will work. I've also re-downloaded the zip file form the tutorial and replaced the boot img file, thinking maybe it had been corrupted, but no luck. Then I tried re-doing the xpsp2 version, and it worked fine. Is there anything that I could be missing in the root of my cd or such which would cause it not to boot? Gai-jin
  22. so far I haven't burned it, only created the iso and used vmware to test it. Tested both in vmware, and the sp1 won't work. Is NTLDR a part of the boot img? gai-jin
