You can also capture the drive with ImageX (which comes with Vista.) Your image should wind up much smaller than an Acronis or Ghost image. WIM files are super-efficient. Assuming you have the VMDK mounted on the D: drive: imagex /CAPTURE D: C:\VirtualMachine.wim "Oct 23rd Snapshot"
