Hello guy's I'm not 100% sure if this is the right forum to be posting this in it is server related so I will post it here. I recently installed Server 2008 R2 with Exchange 2010. Everything works fine so I'm now at the step of getting OWA to work. OWA works fine from the internal. I put https://localhost/owa and it goes to OWA fine. From the outside I contacted the guys who manage my DNS and I had them create a pointer to my external ip. When I ping my new pointer it resolves to my static IP. So I know that is working. When I go to https://externaladdress/owa I am returned with the following message 404 Not Found The requested URL /owa was not found on this server. So I'm not sure what the problem could be? I enabled Outlook Anywhere. Active Sync seems to be enabled also. Port 443 seems to be open on my server (I don't manage the firewall) but I can open a command prompt and do "telnet localhost 443" and it logs in. I assume it is a certificate error. When I try to create a self sign certificate in exchange management console everything goes fine until I have to complete the pending request. When I try to complete the pending request it asks to find the .cer file which I have no idea where it would be. So I'm stuck there. By default Exchange 2010 comes with the Default Certificate. I don't know if I have to create another one for the External because the default certificate asks me to put the External URL for OWA. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

But what I dont understand is how can it be that in a 50mb file some people can compress this file to 1mb some people 5 and others 30. Sometimes the compression is almost NIL where compressed it is almost the same size as the original file. There has to be some set of rules or parameters that are used to compress files to 1000 times smaller than the source. The file I saw that unpacked to 5XX mb was used by 7zip. The extension was 7Z. Ive always used 7zip I find that it has the best compression ratio but I've never been able to recreate these massive compressions that I have seen. I've looked around and tried to change the dictionary size and put it to LZMA2 and so on. I've never been able to get anything under 50% compression. There has to be something I'm missing. You see it so often in ISO files that are 700MB compressed down to 50-60-70-100 MB. There has to be some method that is being used to super compress these files.

Hello guys so I've been reading around and it seems like this question has been asked a million times but there is never a definitive answer to it. First off let me start by asking this. Have any of you ever downloaded a zip or rar file that was like 5 MB and then you uncompressed it and it unpacked to like 200MB? I have, I've seen it. Personally the highest compression I have ever seen in my life was a 740KB file uncompressed to 538MB. I've never understood what tools were used to do this. So my question is: What are people using to compress files down to a few MB when unpacked they are hundreds of times their compressed size. I've tried 7zip with all kinds of different combinations and I've never been able to recreate an unbelievable compression. My maximum I have achieved was 6;.28MB on a file that was originally 27.4MB Any advice on programs or methods to compress files to exaggerated sizes would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hello guys, I have 2 questions for the Gurus 1) I am migrating some machines at a client. I used the printer migration tool in windows 2008 so export the settings of the printers to a file, then I reimported them into the new print server. All goes well but the users do not see the new printers, do I have to readd the printers again on every user? If I don't how do I get the users to see the printers on the new server is there a tool? 2) The users all have mapped drives however the Data machine is now virtualized and the data is now migrated to tthe virtual machine. Is there a tool that I can run that will remap all their drives to the new server? Instead of me going to every single machine and checking their mappings to configure the log on script properly is there some kind of tool that will extract the data for me? If I'm not clear in what I need let me know! Thanks

Hello people, I need some expert advice. I am going to rip my hair out here. I have mailbox A that needs to have a few people be able to send from it. I have exchange 2010 I gave the users the Send As permission and the Full Access permission I also went into ADUC and in the security tab added the users and gave them full access to the user whos mailbox I want them to be able to send from (because for whatever reason from the EMC it would add the user in the security tab in ADUC but not give them any permissions...allow and deny wouldnt be checked off) Here is the kicker. When I try to send an email from email1@domain.com from user1@domain.com <--the user who should have access to this mailbox from Outlook it doesn't work When I try to OWA it works. I read that the OAB files might need to be updated so I downloaded the Address book from Outlook...nothing...I even deleted the OAB files from the profile...nothing I went as far as to delete the mail profile completely...nothing... I am out of ideas I know I am missing something but what.... I cant understand how it works from OWA but not Outlook Edit: This may or may not mean anything but when I get the bounceback in my mailbox I get this error You can't send a message on behalf of this user unless you have permission to do so. Please make sure you're sending on behalf of the correct sender, or request the necessary permission. If the problem continues, please contact your helpdesk. It is FROM: MICROSOFT OUTLOOK and not FROM: email1@domain.com EDIT: I found the problem. The problem is related to the address book. The email address that is associated to this particular account is wrong. I tried removing the entire account and readding it but the users always see wrong@domain.com instead of right@domain.com for the email address in their contact list. How do I remove all entries for this in Exchange 2010 I tried everything I can't see any evidence of this email address anywhere anymore but it still seems to be lingering in the Global Contact List.

Hello, Bare with me I am going to give you the jist of what I need. I am attempting to do the following: I have a user who has a folder called c:\temp now in c:\temp there are subfolders the subfolders are completely random names what the user wants to do is have me create a batch file that deletes everything in c:\temp BUT always retains the last folder (the folders are dates, so lets say 02-12-01 then 02-12-02 and so on so forth) Now I created a script file like this rmdir c:\temp /s/q mkdir c:\temp It does what it is supposed to do it silently deletes everything and then remakes c:\temp Is there any other switch I can put to make it omit a folder without any user intervention? As far as I know a batch file can't do that but maybe someone can point me in the right direction? Maybe another program that does it for you? Or another kind of batch file? Keep in mind 02-12-01 and so on is completely made up I don't know what the names of the folders will be they are random. Thanks!

Hey guys I have a question. I downloaded Windows Update Downloader and the windows 7 ulz file from December 2011. I don't understand what I am doing wrong but when I start the program it tells me that it does not find a .ul file. I put both the .ulz and the .ul file in the same folder as the program and it does nothing. When I click on the plus sign it always brings me to this page http://www.windowsupdatesdownloader.com/ProgramFiles.aspx and when I click on the Update Lists there is no option for Windows 7. How do I put this UL file in the program so it sees it and I can download the updates? Thanks!

ya thats exactly the thing, i dont really care about the data i just want the drive to be unlocked. It is worth like a few dollars the drive but if I can do it myself I will do it. But if I can't I won't do it. I just don't want to chuck a perfectly good drive because of a lost password you know what I mean.

Unfortunately A-FF does not support the Hitachi drives. HDD Unluck detects the drive as locked but cannot unlock it for whatever reason. I looked at the technical specs for pc 3000 and it says that it supports unlocking of the drive but I'm not really sure how to download it. Or how I would use it for that matter there seems to be a whole kit that comes with it. Anyone have any info on how to make this program work?

when i check the drive status it says it is locked. i went to hitachi site and tried to download the drive fitness test however when i run the utility it tells me that any operation i am trying to do i cant because the program is designed to run on a hgst drive and my drive is not. im frustrated :s

Ok so I finally got a little adapter to get the drive into a desktop. The drive as far as I know is from an X41. It is not in an X41 and in a regular machine. I tried atapwd and I cannot unlock the drive. I am not sure what to do. I also tried a program called hdderase, basically this program tells me I can't do anything unless I have the password to the drive. So I am asking myself should I consider this drive garbage and assume that it cannot be unlocked or is there a brute force way of doing it or a software that i can load up that will unlock the drive. Im going to try the bucd again maybe i missed something

I am at a loss. No matter what program I use I cannot get this drive to unlock. I tried the Ultimate CD A few of the programs see the actual drive, I can format the drive but when I pop it back into the X41 it still asks me for a password. I have no idea what to do anymore. I came across a program called atapwd but when I try to start it up it does not detect the drive. The drive is out of the machine and attached to my machine via a USB adapter. Am I missing something here? Why is it so hard to unlock this drive?

I have tried this go into command prompt then type "diskpart" type "list volume" then "select volume xxx" (where xxx is the write protected problem drive) then type "attributes volume clear readonly" Diskpart does not see the disk http://hddguru.com/software/2006.04.12-HDD-Low-Level-Format-Tool/ <--also does not see the drive. http://www.extend-partition.com/free-partition-manager.html <--this sees the drive but I cannot do anything. I cannot format the drive it tells me every sector is a bad sector. I can wipe the data from the drive which takes like 4 hours however once wiped I still can't do anything. I believe it would be because the encryption is still on it.

Hello, so I am in a little bit of a jam. I have a hard drive that came from a broken machine. Problem is the hard drive has a password on it. I can't do anything with the drive if I put it in the same model machine it came from and try to boot it it gives me a password prompt if I don't enter the right password twice then the machine halts. I tried to put it in another machine as an external drive and Windows does not detect it. It sees the drives but it sees it as offline or not initialized. I tried it in Ubuntu and Ubuntu sees it but when I do Fdisk in Ubuntu it does not see the drive to format. I am in a little bit of a slump here I know the drive works but I cannot format it to get the encryption off it. Anyone know of any software that could bypass any passwords the drive might have on it and just format it? I was told gdisk would work but I have no idea how to use Gdisk so I wouldn't even know where to start. My biggest problem is because I can't boot this drive off any other machine (it is from a tablet pc so the pin outs are not standard) I can only have this drive in either the same kind of machine or as an external drive. I'm completely stumped on this one anyone know of any kind of software that can just allow me to format this hard drive? Thanks~

Its God telling you not to watch porn on your pc seriously it`s an unexplained error or IT. Sometimes things just happen. I wouldn`t spend money where it`s not needed. If it happened every day I would look into it. If it happened once then never again just think of it as a mystery of computers. It is however most likely caused by a heat issue that the machine just stopped. (Sometimes when I shut down my machine I can`t boot it anymore, I have to short the CMOS to get it to start again...for what reason I do not know, but that`s the fix to my problem.)

ok so i tried to log on as a different user (domain user) and he has the same issue. It`s still a no go with sound. I tried firefox same issue I installed latest version of flash same issue I gave the user full rights to Windows folder internet explorer folder media folder macromedia folder (in system32) still no go as soon as i give him administrative right though he has all sounds. I`m stumped. (quick note im a domain admin and when i log on everything works however domain admins have administrators as part of the people in their group so i believe everything will work with my account no matter what machine i log on to)

I havent checked on any other machine because I don't see this particular user very often however all the sounds on the pc work. It just when he is in the domain user group that his internet sound is off. He can play a dvd from media player and it works fine.

Hey guys its been a while since I posted here mostly reading! (Which means that my network is working properly!) I have a little bit of a problem (may be something stupid or something advanced I really don`t know) I haven`t really troubleshot the problem yet as I haven`t had a lot of time but I don`t want to waste too much time on this. I have a domain user who as soon as he opens internet explorer he has no sound on anything that is internet explorer related. He has no click noises anymore or any sound when he presses enter or any sound that would come out of browsing. To further this (and make sure I`m still sane and not just losing my hearing) I tried Youtube and he sees the video but gets no sound. Now if I were to put him as local administrator everything works, all his sounds work everything works fine. Obviously this is a rights related question but I`m trying to figure out what has changed or what can be the cause of this? What can I do to keep him a domain user but allow him to have sound while browsing. This is the only user that has this problem and I don`t want to waste too much time on it. Anyone have any ideas at all what it could be why from one day to the next the user just looses his rights to hear sound on internet explorer?? (I haven` t tried to right click in the youtube box to get to the flash settings to see if allow sound is on deny) I also have not tried Firefox. I also have no more rights in the sound options in control panel to listen to default windows sounds..or change the type of speakers that the laptop has. (I changed them to laptop speakers in administrator mode but I still have no sound) Win XP Professional client machines Win server 2003 and 2008 as servers. AD is installed on all the servers so it is available in server 2003 and 2008.

Im actually using Acronis True Image Echo Enterprise Server v9.7.8206w Universal Restore Im not 100% sure how to use the sysprep option? I was under the assumption that once booted into windows there would be a slew of unknown drivers that would just pop up and I can just go fetch the drivers manually but I get no prompts to add new hardware drivers. I'm pretty new to Acronis so I don't know if there is something I can do to get the sysprep running. The only way I know how to use sysprep is to run it right before I take my image and then after restoration of the image on a different machine sysprep would run on first boot. Even at that I don't even know if it would detect all the right drivers (i havent used sysprep in a while) Is that what you mean with sysprep? (Run it right before I take the image and when it asks me to reboot I shut the machine down and then take the image so acronis takes care of the HAL and then on first boot sysprep runs?)

Hey guys I have a question, I am trying to use Acronis Universal Restore on a laptop. The laptop keeps missing out on 2 drivers. Now during the universal restore it tells me that Windows will search for drivers in the Windows Drivers folder. I downloaded all the latest Drivers packs and placed them in C:\windows\system32\drivers but it does not install anything. I am just wondering, is there a way to get acronis to install missing drivers during the universal restore or is it ONLY for HAL and SATA/SCSI to avoid blue screen? I would really love to be able to have acronis install all the missing drivers during the restore?? Is this possible?? If so where would I have to put the drivers? (note in C:\windows\system32\drivers there are subfolders with all the drivers they aren't directly in THAT folder they are in C:\windows\system32\drivers\DP_Chipset and so on so forth.)

Guys I have a question. Well more a problem than anything else. I am using multiple exchange server 2000,2003,2007 and I am having this issue. The server which my exchange is installed on replicates the public folders to other servers. All is well everyone can view the public folders without a problem however If the server that has the exchange installed is closed then no one can view the already replicated public folders that are on the other servers. Can anyone give me a little heads up as to why this is happening? (My initial guess is because the main server is closed but what I am asking myself is if the folders were already replicated to other servers what does it matter if the main server is shut down?) Anyone have any insight on what could be giving me this problem?
