check to see if you have winnt.cmd/.bat whatever it is in the root directory of the CD

On the root of the CD there is suppose to be a winnt.bat or winnt.cmd one of the 2, to point to the .sif file with out it, it wont work

another way is to use Reg Cleaner, just a little program that helps look a little faster, but the best thing to do is to back up the data that you have and do a complete reinstall

Does anyone else think that that is the stupidest thing that they have ever heard??

i got mine to install silently, so far u have to install the entire program to get it to work, i dont think that you can pick and choose what u want in it, i believe the switches are /qb.

can u still get to windows?? if so then go to start > run > type msconfig
then go to the boot.ini tab, click on the installation OS path and click "check all boot paths" then remove the installation path
and if u cannot get back to windows then slap in the SP1a XP CD and do a repair
and finally if all that fails, FDISK FORMAT REINSTALL

i had this problem too, the only thing that you can do is to NOT name your computer, leave that space blank and the $Docs folder will work, the only other way is to take the path $OEM$ > $Docs > administrator.computername > whatever you want from there, check the paths that u currently have going on in the Documents and Settings folder to put the items in their respectable places.

slipstream sp2 error
in Windows XP
Posted
you have to unpack the sp2.exe file to a folder and then move the command prompt to the update folder.
