I have a Sony Ericsson K750 and I can use it for:
- controlling the mouse cursor and some keys (Enter, TAB, arrows etc.)

I had a similar experience (with nLite 1.4.1), when slipstreaming SP3 RTM and using unnatended options (CDKEY etc.). The result: missing Windows components (OOBE, WMP etc.).

- I think you should integrate SP2 first, then SP3.
- Yes, you need to download them yourself (from Microsoft website). Updates too.
- For adding applications, use the nLite addons. Customization is program specific; most of them don't have switches for that.
- Use VirtualBox. It's free, very fast and won't cause you trouble.
- For driver integration, use nLite also. I don't know how DriverMax exports, but most of the programs save driver files + .INF. That should work fine with nLite.

It's better to leave UAC as it is needed for some programs to work/install. You can just disable it (vLite tweaks section) and it won't bother you (but it will be there just in case).

SP3 doesn't contain 2.0, nor 3.0/3.5.

Needed updates won't appear corectly on Windows Update until Service Pack 3 will be available there too.

Slipstreaming SP3 after IE7 (and WMP11) just overwrites the files with the old ones (IE6, WMP9).

Don't limit yourself to ONLY open source. There are a lot of freeware apps that are better than open source.

I think for now it is sufficient to install just .NET Framework 2.0 SP1 (23 MB size). I haven't run into applications that require 3.0 or later, neither 1.0 or 1.1 (too old).

If you have a Vista DVD, use vLite to remove unused components and (especially) services (like superfecth, indexing). Then reinstall.

You can also check if the program "behaves" like a virus (creates files in Windows directories, adds things to start-up, modifies system files etc.) using Comodo Firewall. It has firewall + HIPS and it asks you for every thing that the executable tries to do.

There are two choices:
a ) use the original installer's silent switches and create a sfx archive (using WinRAR or 7-Zip) that will execute the command (setup program + switches). There is a tutorial for the 7-Zip version on this forum;
b ) create an AutoIT script that will press all the buttons and select any options you want. This is the way to go if you do custom install (don't install all the program components, disable some file associations, disable start-up items) and the setup switches don't allow this.

It looks like no one is interested/knows/had run into the problem.
The problem from my post above is caused by n/vLiting Windows, so the Office installer (also shrinked) cannot add some files that have been removed by nLite, for example, in my machine - a DR Watson .DLL.
The solution is running the shrinked Office installer without the silent switch and copy the missing files from the original CD to the unpacked shrinked Office installer and repack to 7z.

I have a problem (it might be discussed already):
I have an Office 2003 SP3 install CD and I only need Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access, without clipart, help, tools etc.
Followed the guide from HERE (without slipstreaming anything) and created a 59 MB installer (with /qb- switch, only progress bars). The operation was done on a freshly installed WinXP SP2 virtual machine so I wouldn't miss any files.
After that, I tried to install it on two machines: one with Vista SP1 and one with Win2000 SP4. Both installs behaved exactly the same: at the third progress bar of the MSI installer, it rolls back and exits. No files, folders or shortcuts were created (Program Files, Start Menu).
I ran the installer without the answer file and it said that some files are missing, something like Office*.dll (anyway, I don't think it was something from the removed components). This maybe caused by the Office Shrinker app so I'm not sure if this is the cause of the rollback.
How can I debug the installation progress? Are there any log files generated (that contain useful information)?

Folder Options -> uncheck "Remember each folder settings"
Sounds -> set sound scheme to "No sounds"
...
How do I save these settings so I can automatically set them on next install via RunOnce?

I have to relaunch the program and start downloading again. The problem is that WUD doesn't "see" the already downloaded updates and starts from the beginning.

Just use the DriverPack BASE program (get it from the website - http://driverpacks.net/DriverPacks/ ) and follow the instructions.

What driver package did you download? BTS DriverPack, Mass Storage?
On the other hand, it's almost impossible to have a pack that will work with any board/chipset. It would need a large mass of people to contribute with drivers, testing, a centralized system for management (redundant drivers, version tracker).
A generic driver for SATA I don't think there is (at least at this moment).
The problem with generic drivers is that PC components (here, SATA controller) have different specifications (some work with RAID - different types). So a generic one would have to comply with all, resulting reduced functionality.

Reinstall office 2000
in Microsoft Office

There are 2 problems:
1) when they are uninstalled, most programs keep the settings on the computer (files in Application Data, registry) so if you reinstall, you won't have to reconfigure;
2) Office is from Microsoft and Windows is from Microsoft and some files/folders are "tied" to Windows once you install Office (or another MS app).
I had a similar issue with Microsoft Visual Studio and the only solution was reinstalling the operating system.
You can try to clean-up using CCleaner and RegCleaner, but I don't think it will solve your problem for sure.
