  1. For disabling redundant startup entries do look at hijack free from asquared, very good tool.

    yea very nice program. shows you alot that you would normally have to dig through and find lol :thumbup

  2. If your motherboard uses a controller that the XP CD doesn't have a driver for, it will give you this message. You may need to F6 a driver during the install.

    agreed. if you have a HDD that is SATA chances are you might have to get a driver from online. hit f6 when prompted when reinstalling and direct it to the driver....

  3. nice found where to change the cpu at

  4. Hey

    Long story short what im trying to do is change what the system info says when you right click My Computer and go to properties. I found a short tutorial on how to insert OEM info into the computer's properties but not realy what im looking for. I would like to change where it says name, ram, cpu etc. but not sure how. Heres what i have so far.

    1. Created oeminfo.ini and inserted this into it

    2.

    [general]
    Manufacturer=RedHatcc bla bla
    Model=Dell Optiplex GX150 bla bla

    3. Saved that as oeminfo.ini and pasted that in system32 folder and it changes the name and model to whatever but cant find mabe the right wording to change the ram/cpu etc.

    lol long story, dont ask but anyone have any ideas?

  5. Sometime last week TrendMicro's website was hacked out and infected....

    Security vendor Trend Micro has fallen victim to a widespread Web attack that splashed malicious software onto hundreds of legitimate Web sites in recent days.

    A Trend Micro spokesman confirmed that the company's site had been hacked Thursday, saying that the attack took place earlier in the week. "A portion of our site -- some pages were attacked," said Mike Sweeny, a Trend Micro spokesman. "We took the pages down overnight Tuesday night -- and took corrective action."

    going on to say further down....

    The infected Web pages are not obviously malicious, but the attackers have added a small bit of JavaScript code that redirects visitors' browsers to an invisible attack launched from servers based in China. This same technique was used a year ago, when attackers infected the Web sites of the Miami Dolphins and Dolphins Stadium just prior to the 2007 Super Bowl XLI football game.

    lol wow....

    heres a full detailed report

  6. well to save a registry, you can type it in notepad and and save as "example.reg" (the .reg extension makes it a registry file, just make sure to change the Save As Type to All or you will have a example.reg.txt lol) , but as far as what to type in the registry can vary.

    What programs are you trying to insert the key for?

  7. Hi

    You have to have a registry file with all your info in it you want, and create a batch (if you dont already have one) and insert this into it.

    @echo off
    reg import registryname.reg

    replacing the "registryname.reg" with the directory to your registry file.

    thats what i used for mine... hope it helps

  8. Hi

    Trying to silently install Windows Media Player 11 with a batch, but the code i use still extracts and installs it normally. Wish i could find something that makes it quiet and no human interaction... i found this by searching through the site but doesnt seem to work.. mabe i have it typed wrong or not using the right switches at all.

    ps - i renamed the installer to wmp11.exe, should effect it should it?

    START /WAIT wmp11.exe /Q:A /C:"SETUP_WM.EXE /Q:A /R:N /P:#e"

  9. hmm... sounds like to me the .exe doesnt like the machine you are trying to install the drivers on.

    what i would do personally is find the drivers for the 2 network cards online, uninstall all 3 drivers listed from device manager, then reboot the machine, when your system detects the new hardware on reboot, dont install the drivers automatically, install them manually then point it to the folders where you have the drivers you downloaded.

    installing from a .exe is pretty hard when it doesnt work for you. let me know if that doesnt work for you or if you have to use the .exe for some reason try and figure something else out

  10. :-D took the "/NO_AVGW_STARTUP /QUIT_IF_INSTALLED" off the end and worked fine for me :-D

    "start avgsetup.exe /HIDE /DONT_START_APPS /NO_WELCOME"

    is the line i used and works with avg 7.5 :-D thanks for the help guys hope someone finds this topic helpful

  11. well... we do have a version of xp we use but is pretty much full lol ( 700mb ) . we have another cd we run after we've loaded the computer to install our prefered applications but last thing left to do is get avg to install silent.

    some switches to run in a batch would be awsome! but.... cant quite figure any out. im sure its probally not that hard just no idea which ones to use...

  12. At work we end up formatting and reloading alot of computers... we end up doing the same thing to just about all of them

    (loading avg, installing office, changing background, changing the power settings and turning the screensaver off etc. etc.)

    only thing left is to figure out a way to get AVG to silently install...

    i have no idea what switches to use at all.... all i know is you can launch it in cmd with a few switches and get it to install itself with no human interaction. anyone have idea or solution? help is very very much appreciated!!

  13. In the line of writing a batch program that will do a few things...

    got device manager to open running the line "start devmgmt.msc /b" and runs pretty good...

    anyone know how to bring up msconfig in the command line?

    Thanks
