  1. Hi ilko. Maybe you should take a look at this auction on ebay: Install Windows From USB http://cgi.ebay.com/Install-Windows-From-U...93%3A1|294%3A50
  2. Uuuh! Should have read this post first... But thank you for your quick and detailed help.
  3. First of all thank you for this great project. One question: Now more and more notebook manufacturers use a hidden partition at the beginning of the hard disk for system recovery files or other stuff. Is it possible that the GUI part during setup doesn't start, because the original boot.ini refers to this partition? Error: hal.dll not found. [Boot Loader] Timeout=5 Default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS [Operating Systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Second part of XP Home Edition setup from hd 0 part 1" /FASTDETECT If i don't want to format the whole hard disk and want to keep this hidden partition, how is the workaround? Can i make boot.ini adjustments and tell WinSetupFromUSB, that Windows will be installed on disk 0, partition 2? Thanks for any help in advance.
  4. Great improvement over usb_prep8. But i have one problem: On my main machine usb_multiboot2.cmd window close by itself during the step "Make bootsector files in btsec folder". I included that part of usb_prep.log. On another machine the program runs fine. I use the same USB-Stick on both machines. So i think the problem is related to the windows version, but both systems run XP Pro SP2 fully updated in english. Maybe someone have an idea??? Thanks and greetings... HKCU [EDIT] Found the mistake.... I had two folders USB_MultiBoot2 on my harddrive. After i deleted one, everything went fine Great work guys! [EDIT END]
  5. Hi guys... great work here!!! I installed Windows XP Pro, both english and german version, several times on my ASUS Eee PC using usb_prep8. Starting with a full source over with some nlite versions. I can confirm that you run only in problems, when you remove "Manual Install and Upgrade" under Operating System Options. Now my final nlite Version is only around 195MB and consumes around 650MB of space (excluded pagefile.sys and hiberfile.sys) after installing to the 4GB SSD of the Eee PC. As i'm from Germany, i wanna write a guide in German language, how to use usb_prep8. Many people are not so familiar with english language and the result of translation tools are often poor. But i don't wanna make the mistake not to mention the creator of it or MSFN. Just wanna ask about your opinion before i start with it. Once again... great work.
