  1. yes, one image in shell32, also icons in both dlls. but i dont know if its possible, because another person asked a similar question here, whoever it was, searching google found me there anyway when I tried to change some icons and it broke my system and would not boot, until i fixed it with system restore. PS. my activation also broke when i did it.
  2. Does anyone know if it;s actually possible to modify a .dll in Windows 8.1, without everything screwing up?. everytime I try it breaks and will not boot or some other weird problem happens, so I have to use system restore to get back.
  3. I have been trying to change resources such as icons in .dll's or images in .dll's in Windows 8.1 x64 (Not Professional edition), but everytime I do it breaks my activation and I have to use sfc/ scannow to fix the problem, which then does fix it. but it bothers me that I cannot customize anything like previous versions of Windows. as I have read that Windows nows secures things more then ever in the Windows directorys to protect users from system files modifying like from virus's and things like that.
  4. Oh, Ok, I have those files on my hard drive, but I never tryed intergrating them yet.
  5. wait really, I thought only Windows 2000 Advanced Server Supported more memory, I thought Windows 2000 Pro only supported 4GB like Windows XP.
  6. I Just got a Geniune copy of Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional that I found on ebay, maybe now I can do fiddle around with it more.
  7. well, I tried another theme, though it still works and looks good. I'm sure the one you found was also good. I can post a desktop screenshot if you want MagicAndre1981, I tried changing alot of things even adding the real sidebar from a Vista Installation (though it was a download from Server 2008 RC2 someone posted online.) still Windows 8 is pretty fast to startup and shutdown, which is surprising at times.
  8. Just to tell you I went back to Windows 8.1, it was fun while I could use Windows Vista, it will always be my favorite operating system. I've customized by Windows 8 System to look like Windows Vista in the mean time.
  9. Ok I tried the Tutorial, so far it looks like it's working well, as I went under the event viewer. I'm not seeing any errors so far. which is good. thanks for the tutorial, this will be useful if I ever need to install Windows Vista again.
  10. ATI Radeon HD 4200, for some reason the Microsoft driver worked better from 2009, I got it from Windows Update, but recently installed the updated driver and so farno blue screens, though It did happen once.
  11. The Thing is I have to upgrade from Windows Vista, I got blue screens from my display driver, the only driver that worked was a older version from Windows Update. things didn't work out as I thought they would with this OS. oh well.
  12. Yes it came with Service Pack 2 Preinstalled with the operating system.
  13. oh wait, it's working, maybe it was because it needed to be updated before I could run it. VM player does work. my mistake. just the installation is a little slow, but works fine.
  14. Yep, I actually installed it just eariler yesterday night, but sometimes I have odd issues, such as the explorer bar freezes, also VMPlayer will not install it gets stuck at the Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable and does not install that I have to end it's process, most of everything else seems smooth, Google Chrome runs great no problems and the Video Editor I use Sony Vegas 12 works really well to. also is it normal when you remove components from the program and features under the control panel, does it usually take a long time to add or remove things, as thats what happened to me, though it'
  15. Hello, I want downgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows Vista, I know this seem pretty weird but I wanted to re-experience the old operating system again, but is there any problem of me running the older operating system besides the driver and issues with some of my newer software I use (such as Sony Vegas 13). P.S. I know that I will have to run Windows Update to get it updated.
  16. Ok, thanks Robert. thats very helpful information you gave there. as I have alot of files that are pretty big on my hard disks, I've decided that I will emulate Microsoft Windows 2000 instead, though I probably won't use it alot, at least it will work with the Virtualbox or VMPlayer Drivers. I'm thinking I will just stay running Windows 8.1 Core or maybe trying out Windows Vista again, as I see there are alot of people here that actual use it. (though XP x64 is less of a bloat lol)
  17. Oh that sounds good Blackwingcat, I would love to update the copys I have of Windows 2000. also is there a link where I can download these updates, as it looks like there are many updates for Windows 2000, I would like to download them in one package.
  18. Hello again, my name is Chris, anyway, I was thinking before of running Windows 2000, but the one thing I don't like about it, is that it will not be able to use all my ram, which is disappointment to me as I use a video editor alot for personal projects, not only that I cannot figure out how to even install Google Chrome on W2k, seems complicated as I must be doing something wrong also Windows 2000 kept crashing on me from just using firefox and downloading a file too rebooting explorer for no reason which was frustrating, I was testing W2k in a Virtual Machine to see what I would have to do,
  19. Hello my name is Chris, years ago I actually came here and asked this same question and lots of people gave me answers but I never fiddled around with installing it, anyway I'm sure my hardware won't work with Windows 98 or ME, but does anyone know if the operating system would run on these specs, Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-MA785GMT-UD2H (Revision 1.0) RAM: 11GBs of DDR3 RAM Hard Drives: 60GB SSD Drive, 2 x 1TB Hard Disk Drives Processor: AMD Athlon II X3 435 Processor with 3 Cores Onboard Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 4200 Network: Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller
  20. Wow this topic is very interesting, this is making me interested of running Windows NT 4 lol.
