  1. Using this green machine method successfulle but one little annoying thing in my install is that my IE7 tweaks doesn't all work. I'll give them during t-12 with cmdlines.txt method. The couple ones that doesn't work are [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main] "RunOnceComplete"=dword:00000001 "RunOnceHasShown"=dword:00000001 When these ones doesn't work (for some reason) I have to go through settings when I first time open IE7 - however homepage and couple else tweaks works perfectly. But when I checked the registry (hkey_users/.default) also these two settings were there but when looking hkey_current_user they weren't there (before I have used IE7). I don't know anymore what to try - it's not big deal but annoying. Meanwhile - I tried hfslip method and this way all IE7 tweaks worked (during t-12). Differende with my hfslip install (comparing to green machine method) is that there was also wga, MU stuff within install. However - I'd like to use "green machine method" because then I know how it all goes... So if anyone has ideas, please let me know, MMainio
  2. Well I'm sorry but one more answer...maybe you can LOL even more this time To Bashrat: I don't like argueing with you about that thing but your previous example way doesn't work in my system (and I didn't take any personalities). Next ones below are purely cold facts - all done with real system - not in virtual pc! Clean xp+sp2 -install + applied your latest basepack and massstorage pack works fine. And then only thing what I did was editing txtsetup.sif, making iso and burning and testing. Entries in txtsetup.sif after applying basepack and msd-pack - and works like a charm: So, according to your previous example the next one should work also: but it won't work. Error is: Setup can't find any hard disk blaa blaa... And not even the next one work - same error: .In order to work I need to have all entries like : mmainio
  3. Bâshrat, one more reply... I tried your last pack + fix and it worked perfectly so case is closed I guess? But still wondering (if you have red my previuos post) would it make any harm to other promise users if tx4000 -entry are replaced by fasttx2k -entry in txtsetup.sif? Or maybe why-not-waste-any-more-time-with-this is better solution because your last pack worked okay even with me... Keep up good work mmainio
  4. Well, I feel a little sorry for the troubles with my promise thing . And then I'm happy that I managed to solve my? problem and at the same time I feel like an id*** 'cause the answer was already there under my nose... Quotation from my txtsetup.sif I have used earlier with Raskren's method As you can see all entries are similar like in driver name (fasttx2k) and that was the only way I managed to get my system to work! Afterwards this seems so obvious... So only after long and ... tests I realised to change these entries in BTS driverpack's txtsetup.sif and that did the trick! The entries in BTS_DriverPacks_BASE_V50412 were originally and then I changed tx4000 into fasttx2k like below! Not that hard but like our math teacher used to say there's an easy way and there's a hard way... I don't know about the other promise users if they have had that kind of problem but at least my machine needed that change. Once again windows beat me badly... Sorry for troubles and thanks for your time and interest mmainio
  5. Promise story continues... I don't know if this is of any use but it went like that: The beginning was that my satadrive didn't work with the driver from BTS Driverpack MassStorage_V5041 (folder D\M\P\2). But drivers names were the same - fasttx2k.sys - so I couldn't just add my driver. First I removed entries which belonged to BTS DP driver and replaced them with my driver entries (txtsetup.sif etc.) and and installation went fine. Then I just wanted to try to rename my driver and add it into BTS DP and test if that works and it worked perfectly. Couple lines below are quotations from my promise driver .inf and from BTS DP promise driver .inf. 1. changed my fasttx2k.inf, .sys and .cat into fasttx2p.inf, .sys, and .cat 2. in .inf-file changed all fasttx2k-entries into fasttx2p-entries 3. and in .inf-file I left only %PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_3376-hwid line 4. and in BTS DP .inf-file I removed that hwid so there were no same hwids in .infs 5. cabbed my fasttx2p.sys into fasttx2p.sy_ --> and put that into i386-folder 6. added fasttx2p entries in dosnet.inf and textsetup.sif (same way than fasttx2k entries) and changed PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_3376= "tx4000" into PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_3376= "fasttx2p" and also SCSI.LOAD and SCSI entries 7. finally put my fasttx2p-files into folder 9 and added that to BTS DP (D\M\P\9\ - there were earlier 8 promise folders) and then 7z'ed that. So if you have conflicts maybe renaming can be one possibility? That was it! The explanation could have been more clear but my english knowledge sets some limits! mmainio Qoutation from BTS DP fasttx2k.inf ; [Promise] %PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_6629.DeviceDesc% = FasttrakPCI_TX4000, PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_6629 %PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_3371.DeviceDesc% = FasttrakPCI_TX4000, PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_3371 %PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_3319.DeviceDesc% = FasttrakPCI_TX4000, PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_3319 %PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_3376.DeviceDesc% = FasttrakPCI_TX4000, PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_3376 %PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_3373.DeviceDesc% = FasttrakPCI_TX4000, PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_3373 %Promise_Raid_ControllerDesc%=NODRV,SCSI\ProcessorPromise_RAID_Console____ ....more and from my fasttx2k.inf %PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_3319.DeviceDesc% = FasttrakPCI_S150TX4 , PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_3319 %PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_3376.DeviceDesc% = FasttrakPCI_376 , PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_3376 %PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_6629.DeviceDesc% = FasttrakPCI_TX4000 , PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_6629 %PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_3371.DeviceDesc% = FasttrakPCI_S150TX2 , PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_3371 ....more
  6. All right - no hurry! Thanks for your interest. By the way I used your driverpack method 2 to unpack my $oem$-stuff to the harddisk in my unattended installation and it went okay - that gives the possibility to use F6 to give sata-driver ('cause oempreinstall=no). Unbelievable that trying something new succeeded right away! One question, maybe not in right place but forgive me... Where did the if exist setup.exe ren setup.exe setupold.exe if exist setupORG.exe ren setupORG.exe setup.exe go? I mean I read the stuff couple times (almost 40 pages) from Pyrons method but in your driverpack's presetup.cmd there are no those lines? I guess I got lost somewhere when reading through the topic mmainio
  7. Hi, I found this with everest - hope it's what you meant? Win XP Promise FastTrak 376 (tm) Controller PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_3376&SUBSYS_809E1043&REV_02 And the attachment below - it's an image from my windows device manager under promise controller - i guess it's the same thing but there are three more lines in addition to that one above... mmainio
  8. Thanks for your reply. I got everest but it's bedtime now - I'll be back tomorrow, mmainio
  9. Hello, EDITED mmainio: my problem is solved (read my posts 9 & 10) I have asus a7v8x mobo and promise (like in title) and under promise control I have two harddisk - one ide and one sata, no raid. I tried the latest BTS driverpack and setup couldn't find any hard drive - arrrgggh! I have used raskren methods earlier and it works fine with unattended method and also tried nlite - unattended and regular - but nlite always caused windows file protection prompts for some reason. So I'd like to have regular setup with sata drivers integrated - no unattended - and that's why this BTS driverpack sounds interesting. My promise driver is also fasttx2k.sys but different version. And in BTS driverpack is also driver with same name - should I replace all entries in txtsetup.sif etc with my driver entries or is there any workaround? Below is the copy from my promise driver .inf. Hope somebody can understand what-i-tried-to-explain, mmainio
  10. Workaround for AdAware: -install the program -update definitions -change settings if you want (like language etc.) Then: -copy Lavasoft folder from Program Files\ -for settings copy Lavasoft folder from %userprofile%\Application Data\ -and if you want uninstall link into add/remove programs copy from registry [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Ad-Aware SE Personal]. Finally just copy these into the right places in your unattended install, mmainio
  11. Hi, I'd like to know how you can set Internet Explorer default Download Directory permanently? I know that putting "Download Directory" -value into the registry under hkcu..... but that value seems to change if I sometimes download into different directory. So can I set default download directory in a way that default is always the same no matter what I do? mmainio
  12. Just the same thing i struggled with some time ago... Now i have two bootfolders and one setupfolder parallel with oem-folder. My workaround: I moved my runonceex, regtweaks and useraccounts batches into the folder (\$OEM$\$1\cmdlines) that are copied into the harddisk if it is unattended installation - if oempreinstall=yes in winnt.sif. Earlier i had these batches in my cmdlines.txt. And in cmdlines.txt i have now only start.cmd. It's a simple batch which checks if there are cmdlines-folder in the harddisk (unattended installation) or not (normal installation). And if there is that folder then this start.cmd executes runonceex, regtweaks and useraccounts batches and if not then start.cmd doesn't do anything, mmainio
  13. If your batch works in windows then it should be okay! But one thing... you have users.bat and then again users.bat - should that last one be users.reg for example? And in cmdlines.txt respectively [COMMANDS] "users.bat" "users.reg" And one more thing... I think $OEM$ and i386 folders should be parallel - not i386\%OEM% mmainio
  14. If I read this Ђ¤¬ЁЁбва в®ал thing right there seems to be one space... Maybe you should try this way: "Ђ¤¬ЁЁбва в®ал" Another possibility is that batch interpreter doesn't read your language characters in a right way. For example start menu in finnish is käynnistä-valikko and desktop is työpöytä. If i want that this works in batch i have to replace ä-character with ALT+0132 and ö-character with ALT+0147 like below (you can find these by trial/error -method): ä: k„ynnist„-valikko "double low-9 quotation mark" - ALT+0132 ö: ty”p”yt„ (työpöytä) "left double quotation mark" - ALT+0147 But you can find out this by writing your batch and putting pauses in there so you can see if your commands had been executed in a right way when batch pauses. Hope this helps, mmainio
  15. Hello, I'm not sure if this the right forum to ask that but... I added /inram -switch into ERDC's txtsetup.sif (according to Flyakites multibootguide... If you would like to be able to switch cds while using ERD) and it worked fine. But I'd like to know: -what does ERDC do differently when loading normally or with that switch ? -and are there any disadvantages if i always use that switch concerning usage of ERDC? Thanks, mmainio
  16. Hei, Propably you have solved this already but just in case... assuming you got the winnt.sif and txtsetup.sif in a right way... I had the same problem when trying my multiboot and the solution was to put packed satadriver (driver.sy_) into the boot folder! That was the only extra thing concerning the sata-drivers I did, mmainio
  17. Thanks for thorough explanation. It looks like i gotta take time and try once again ... mmainio
  18. Hello, I'm working on my first multiboot dvd with easyboot and it's ok so far. Now i put winxppro with sp2 integrated into my multiboot dvd according to Flyakite's multiboot guide. So my folder structure is similar than in AIODVD. The "normal" xppro+sp2 -installation went fine with multiboot dvd. But then i tried my unattended installation and it didn't work at all. It didn't find sata-drivers + it started normal installation. I have totally different folders for both - bootfolders like XPFI vs XPUA and setupfolders like XPPRO vs XPPROUA. Later ... i give up and put my unattended i386 + $OEM$ (changed that into _OEM_) into the root of the disc and no problem. However i'd like to know wtf went wrong... Couple questions concerning unattended: 1. changing setup-path in txtsetup.sif - does that cover everything or should i change the path in winnt.sif (path for oempnpdrivers) and what about the paths in runonceex for example? 2. winnt.sif, txtsetup.sif - only in bootfolder or also in setupfolder? 3. satadrivers - i have integrated these according to raskren's guide Unattended install, SATA drivers, and NO Floppy.... Do these need some changes when putting in a multibootdisk like putting something in bootfolder etc? 4. and folder name: $OEM$ - in harddisk it's like that but when i make the unattended.iso with cdimage (isocreator) it's like _OEM_. But now when i do my multiboot.iso in easyboot then the folder is $OEM$ - why? And is that bad for paths? Long story but maybe somebody can help - i would really appreciate it ...
  19. Hi, To find the documentation go to Grisoft's website - download - documentation and from there you can download AVG 7.0 Remote Administration (user manual) (pdf). From that manual you can find the switches that work fine with AVG Free also... mmainio
  20. Thank You for quick answer! Maybe two disks - it's not really a problem; just happened to notice that when accidentally booting with my unattended cd... MMainio
  21. Hi, If I put original xp setup-cd in I have three options first 1. install, 2. repair and 3. quit and if I select 1. then F8 and then comes the part where I can partition and format... Now if I put unattended cd in it goes directly to the part where I can partition and format... Can I make unattended setup-cd in a way that it starts similarly than the original one? I don't mind these two steps more in the beginning of setup because I want anyway to do partitioning etc. My winnt.sif ;SetupMgrTag [Data] AutoPartition=0 MsDosInitiated="0" UnattendedInstall="Yes" AutomaticUpdates=yes [Unattended] UnattendMode=DefaultHide OemSkipEula=YES OemPreinstall=YES Hibernation=No TargetPath=\WINDOWS Repartition=No UnattendSwitch=Yes WaitForReboot=No OemPnPDriversPath="Drivers\01" DriverSigningPolicy=Ignore [GuiUnattended] AdminPassword=*** EncryptedAdminPassword=NO OEMSkipRegional=1 TimeZone=125 OemSkipWelcome=1 [UserData] ProductID=*** FullName="***" OrgName="***" ComputerName=*** [RegionalSettings] LanguageGroup=1 [Identification] JoinWorkgroup=*** [Networking] InstallDefaultComponents=Yes [Shell] DefaultStartPanelOff = Yes [WindowsFirewall] Profiles = WindowsFirewall.TurnOffFirewall [WindowsFirewall.TurnOffFirewall] Mode = 0 MMainio
  22. Hello, If you want to use %system drive%: Run(@comspec & " /c %systemdrive%\abc.exe", "", @SW_HIDE) Or AutoIT -directory macros: Run("@HomeDrive\abc.exe") You can find the frst one in "autoit help - process management -" and the second one in "... - macro reference - directory macros", MMainio
  23. Hi, Is tcpip.sys different in Finnish version Win Xp Pro than in English version - I mean when Finnish version of xp2 comes out can I use the hacked tcpip.sys to replace the original one? MMainio
  24. Hi, Found the reason! Once again - it was me! I tried same installation and this time i pulled off my first drive cable / not just change the boot device. It seems that somehow win xp pro on my first disc interfered my unattended installation on to the second disk. I got two disks in my promise controller and this time i tried shortcut - just change the booting device in bios - and the result wasn't perfect. And of course all earlier unattended tests i have done with my first drive unplugged... Thanks for your reply, MMainio
  25. Hello, My setup went fine with MS Virtual PC but when I tried same with my machine it went fine until RunOnceEx installlations start. After Windows setup has finished system restarts as usual but then before runonceex installation window comes beep-sound - and runonceex installations start. But also at the same time comes prompt: "System Settings Change: Windows has finished installing new device blaa blaa...Do you want to restart?" I need not to do anything with this prompt - runonceex installations goes fine - but it annoys me... Any idea what is the reason to this prompt? Can I Found out what device is in question? I'm trying this install with my normal pc - just set up second harddisk as booting device and installed there MMainio
