  1. no i didn't have the extra / after, it was just a typo
  2. So I have followed the guild to make an answer file using WSIM and copied it to the sysprep directory on the machine i am going to sysprep Then I opened cmd and typed: sysprep.exe /generalize /shutdown /unattend:answer.xml and hit enter. The next thing I know was that sysprep executed as if I double clicked and run it in GUI mode....... have i done something wrong? why is it doing that? Would sysprep use the answer.xml if i click ok there???
  3. um...just a quick question, do any of these require a license????
  4. Sorry I'm new to the sysprep scene, could you give me details on "add the drivers to the build before sysprep"?? Usually drivers files are in compressed .exe or .zip format when I d/l from manufacturer web site, what should I keep after extracting?
  5. 1. thanks for the reply, I have checked out the driver packs already, but I wonder what version of windows do the driver pack support? 2. I'm not trying to make an unattend installation CD, I just want to make an universal image and deploy to systems on network so they'll be ready to go after reboot. Is your CD just the same thing as an image or a slipstreamed Windows CD???
  6. I've been reading lots of guides and tutorials on the net and most of them haven't touch this part in details. I need some guide on preparing drivers for my universal image, I'm new to this so I really need some detailed information. Based on what I've read in the past days, this is what I believe I have to do: First gather all the drivers for all models of machines. Then for those extractable ones I'll extract them into seperate folders and then provide a path to contained inf files in sysprep.ini. And the for the those that are not extractable I'll make silent install. Is everyone here doing this the same way? Also, some totorials said all I have to include is the inf files for device drivers to install properly, and some just didn't say anything about it. I hope someone here could clear the cloud for me.
  7. 1. So if I set computername=* in sysprep, it would work when i push image using Ghost + templet? 2. Ugh bummer, I used an MSDN key....now I'll have to start all over again......but aren't they the same????
  8. hey guys, I have two simple problems that I can't find realted articles containing the solutions. 1. I have just build an universal ghost image (hopefully) on one computer and been pushing it on different models of computer. The HAL issues seems okay at this point, so that's not my question. The real problem is that I am asked to reactivate windows XP when the image is pused onto a machine with different hardware. Is there anyway to automate this process? NOTE: I have this 2. I use Norton Ghost console to push image and I would like to have the freedom to assign computers name with a fixed prefix and then follow with a 2 digit numbers in a specific range. For example if I am pushing image to 3 computers I can make them named: PC01, PC02, and PC03.... I've tried the wild card character in sysprep.ini but it's either not supported or something i've done worng. I also tried to do that using a template in ghost consle yet it seems to have problem when the image is syspreped....
