  1. Merry Christmas to everyone at msfn! Since the other topic just for posting lameskin themes has stopped being posted in, I decided to start up a new one. And I'll also start up the skin posting with 'Codename Longhorn'. It is a skin that (I think) imitates the look of Longhorn 4051 very well. A preview (yes, the screenshot IS taken on Windows 98 : So...if you like it, give it a download. Included are actually two themes, one is a skin, one is simply a windows theme that imitates the Longhorn2k theme. For more info, read the readme included inside the RAR. The background you see in the screenshot is included too. (Don't worry, Tihiy, this is just the skins I made, NOT the modified RP7 stuff) Image hosting provided by Free Image Hosting [xs.to] Codename_Longhorn.rar
  2. Well, that depends on whether you still want your old version or not. And there are a couple ways to update skins, actually. 1: Replace the files already in a certain folder in C:/WINDOWS/Resources, WITHOUT changing the folder name, and then re-applying the skin. No registry stuff needs to be messed with. 2: Make a new folder in C:/WINDOWS/Resources with the version number updated (i.e. MySkin 1.1 instead of MySkin 1.0) in this case, you would have to either rename the old registry key with regedit, or make a new one. Whether or not you keep the old ones is up to you. So basically, no you don't have to remove it from the reg first, and it may be beneficial not to. But if you were to delete the reg key first, nothing bad should happen to your PC all the same. Hope this helps B)
  3. hi I have Revolutions Pack 7 installed on my Windows 98SE machine, but I'd like to change the boot up screen. Usually I'd just edit logo.sys, logow.sys, and logos.sys, but this time that didn't work, as none of those .sys files has the RP7 boot up screen. I looked all over my hard drive (even the registry) but still nothing changed anything. I did find the RP7 boot up in the rptemp folder, but it doesn't affect anything either. Basically, my question is, how do you change the bootscreen manually once RP7 is installed? Thanks in advance
  4. Look...I don't want to hurt your feelings...but the skin looks bad, ugly... I hope you'll take it like a constructive ideea. No worries, my feelings are still in tact Mostly I make my skins for my own purposes, and then upload them if I think anyone else will like them. Since I like it, its goal is achieved. Since you don't, hope I do better next time
  5. I apologize for double-posting, but due to the upload limitations, this was the only way to get this file up. I don't know about you, but when I change themes, I want my computer to look and feel like a whole new OS. The best way to do that is to make everything match. And it just so happens that the Windows Vista Aero cursors match my Windows Revolutions theme perfectly. For those of you who like the Aero cursors, here they are, in a RAR. Windows_Revolutions_Cursors.rar
  6. Hey all! I started working on a new pack of skins (I call it the Longhorn pack, as it will be skins based off of Longhorn backgrounds) and this is the first. It's supposed to be a kind of default skin for the Windows 98 Revolutions Pack. Preview: The background I edited for the skin is inside the RAR already, but here it is for those of you who want to see just the background anyway. Click on the thumbnails to see larger images Oh yeah, and the preview image is terrible quality (JPEG compression, see) while the actual skin is much better. Windows_Revolutions_Skin.rar
  7. Hi all! I just finished another skin that is basically a combination of some features of other skins, plus a few of my own tweaks and stuff. I call it AeroMilk, after a theme for Aston Shell called MilkVista. It mainly attempts to combine the look of Mac OSX and Windows Vista (despite people's claims that the two are the same, the two are QUITE different). Any way, here you go. I have a custom background, but am currently having troubles uploading it anywhere I'll try later AeroMilk.rar
  8. Though I try to always have Revolutions Pack installed on my machine, there have been times when I'll have to uninstall it for a little while and then try installing it again. In those in-between times, I too have noticed that webview doesn't work anymore, and I just hate the regular view. In other words, Daniel-J, this solution doesn't always work
  9. Wow! All these LameSkins are so AWESOME! Windows 98 is better than Vista now...by the way, I'm still skinning too, but having some issues with my current one, hopefully will upload soon
  10. That's true, it will not look like the original, because lameskin code it's more limited than the wb skinning engine, but the stuff that lameskin changes can be made almost exactly in the wb theme, of course with some light changes, the glow efect, the transparency level etc. . Anyway here is the lameskin version of the wb theme. Nice . Another great skin enters the forums!
  11. Oh, that. I suppose lightning up the shadow would help a bit... Tihiy, about the LameSkin 8 preview 3 for LameSkin 7, I'm having some trouble with old skins (i.e. the AeroBlue theme). It works for a while, but then everything touched by LameSkin gets all jumbled up and colors go crazy . If I switch to a skin with progress and scrollbar skinning support, though, it fixes itself. For now I just made my own, more compatible versions, but you may want to fix the .ini's for AeroBlue and Royale in the final version of LameSkin 8.
  12. may I ask why? The shadows seem to work for me...
  13. Oh man! Looks almost exactly like my 'VistaGlow' project. Looks like you beat me to it I agree with you, this is definitely one of the best LameSkins
  14. Alright, I've updated to the LameSkin preview 3 after all (nice update, Tihiy ) and so I've also updated the SilverXP skin to version 1.1. So here's the RAR of the new skin for those who want the updates, and I've also made a screenshot this time: Please note that the actual skin is much higher quality than the screenshot shows. The disadvantage of JPEG SilverXP_v1.1.rar
  15. That's because I don't have the beta version (or whatever the newest version is) of LameSkin. As I recently went through great lengths to get my Windows 98 SE laptop stable, I'm not so quick to alter it right now. And as far as the text goes, I actually did try to change it, but I didn't notice those text color lines in the skin.ini . Thanks for pointing that out Chozo4
  16. Hey guys! Another skin that I've made for you all, this time being a simple port of the Windows XP Silver theme. Like I said, it's ported, so you'll find everything just like the real Windows XP. There's even a wallpaper in there that completely matches the theme, so you should be all set. I didn't make a screenshot because I think probably everyone here has seen the XP Silver theme before SilverXP.rar
  17. Ah, thanks! I didn't see that export button in regedit before, and I sure didn't want to have to copy down all those numbers by hand...AeroGlow should be up and running very soon!
  18. I have a theme that I'm currently working on called 'Aero Glow', and is designed to fit right in with the Windows Vista Ultimate 'strands' wallpaper. However, I'm not so good at creating registry files for LameSkin. I know Max_04 made a little 'tutorial' of how to do this, but while I can make the theme show up, I have to set the colors manually each time I transport it to another computer (simply because the colors are in the registry on my PC, but not the .reg file). Any help on creating .reg files with preset colors?
  19. Wow, that's way better than mine (I had to make mine from screenshots ) I tried to just port it, but it wouldn't let me install it on Windows 98SE. I'm working on other skins too, they should be getting up here in just a few days.
  20. Fix what? My 'Zune' skin? Or were you talking to someone else? I'm not aware of bugs with 'Zune'... (By the way, I have packaged the Zune theme in a .zip for those without WinRAR) Zune_Theme.zip
  21. Hello Zatar, and everyone new! I'm actually new myself, but I've used these forums for a long time and deeply appreciate being able to come to a forum where other people like computers as much as I do I assure you you'll find some good stuff at MSFN
  22. This is probably the most used update I've ever had on my 9x machine! I have multiple flash drives, only one of which previously worked with Windows 98. Thanks to this, I now can use all of them, along with MP3 players and digital cameras too! Keep up the good work
  23. Hey all! First I just have to say that you guys are awesome and thanks to you, my windows 98SE machine looks good as/better than Vista. Second of all I want to say that I've made a theme for LameSkin based off of Microsoft's Zune theme (downloadable for Windows XP SP2). Here's the wallpaper I used (right click on the picture to save it): And Here's a screenshot of the whole theme in action: (Sorry for the pitiful quality of the theme preview image. The real thing looks much nicer and much less patchy.) Hope this theme can be of some use to people! Installation instructions and cursors are included in the .rar file attached to this post! Enjoy!
