  1. I did something, and I don't know what. I did not try to tweak anything, but last time I boot into my Win64 installation, the network adapter was properly installed, BUT the Network Connections in control panel was EMPTY and there was not a NEW CONNECTION thingy in there...it was just plain blank. How can I fix that?
  2. I think I narrowed it down to SafeXP and DCOM....its one of those things for me!
  3. Just did, but the number of tweaks and cutomizations still very limited.
  4. Most WinXP Tweak utilities are not fully functional on Win64. Some options cause problems, others have no effect, and etc. Are there any utilities out there that fully support Win64?
  5. I know nLite does not officialy support Win64, but I still tried. This should NOT be in nLite forum, read further. I tweaked a lot with nLite, and the installation WORKED. The problem is that upon the first boot, Win64 gave a BSOD with 2-3 lines of some info (did not copy it, will do so next time). Well, then I decided to install Win64 normal default. It installed fine, worked fine, and then I started applying tweaks, and since there are like 7000 tweaks, I could not be bothered with testing each one. So, after applying several, it worked, then more and more, and at one point when I restarted I got the SAME BSOD as I did with nLite. So, since nLite has tweaks in it too, I am pretty sure there is a specific tweak or setting or option that works for Win32 but not Win64. Does anyone have a clue as to what it is?
  6. This horrible problem has beel following me for a while, and after one format is disappeared, and now its here again. I have this BIG BIG problem with Windows XP SP2 MSI installation system. Pretty much games and applications that use InstallShield along with MSI Installer AND MSI Installer by itself (usually latest versions) end up installing themselves until the VERY end and then give me error saying THE SETUP WAS INTERRUPTED. Then the game or application removes itself. I did install the ISSCRIPT thing thats for InstallShield. That made no effect. I tried download latest MSI Installer from MS, but it said I have newer version when I tried to install it. Some say I have to use dcomcnfg and mess with permission policies but this PC is set for just one user - Administrator, has no password or protections, and I have full access. ALso, I do not HAVE dcomcnfg! I type that command in RUN and it comes up with an error COULD NOT FIND...bla bla... I think its because I do not have that Component Services in Administrative Tools that sets policies. Its just not there... I don't know what to do and how to fix this! I alerady know of 3 new games that do that to me. Event Viewer shows ERROR ID 11708 for MSI Installer. I USED GOOGLE and the only information I found was for some advanced tech guys who used MSI Installer to complilte installations. It was really complicated and offered NO SOLUTION AT ALL. I can't figure this out at all. I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP!
  7. What services are mandatory for 56K users? Telephone, Network Connection, Server? Which ones?
  8. I want to download SP2-only updates for WinXP Pro but I do not use auto-update. Completely turned off.
  9. I only want to have 6 specific processes running during my first WinXP SP2 boot. Not sure if nLite can do that. Is there any way I can manually edit something before slipstreaming to make only those services be set to AUTO?
  10. Doesn't seem to be working too good...that BartPE... I properly put Norton Ghos there. It made an image, but corrupted one...WTF? I made one - also corrupted. New drive, so it can't be my hardware... Partition Magic 8 also screws up by not being able to create a Primary partition...
  11. Oh sweet! It even has Ghost support! However, link to Partition Magic 8 plugin is broken
  12. Would I be able to launch applications that work in DOS only through that CD?
  13. I need to be able to run MS Windows XP Pro from a CD so that I can access my hard drive files this way. I do not need the repair console, but actual OS from a CD that can execute files on NTFS partitions, and etc. Someone told me its possible!
  14. Bump. My friend in Germany has the same problem, and it totally blows that you have to get IsoBuster, extract files, edit the .MSI, and then use WinISO to recreate the .ISO so that the installer works! Could someone please look at these sequences and tell me why they would cause a problem? Look at the ones that have a grey icon (6597, 6598, 6599, 6601, 6602) http://www.bellsouthpwp.net/M/o/MonarchX/Sequences.jpg There HAS to be a fix to this.
  15. BUMP!!! I found out that I have to remove more than just cleanup sequnces in that .msi installer for it to work! WHAT WOULD CAUSE THIS?
  16. BIG NEWS!!! I downloaded MasaI Editor that edits .MSI files and I got it to work. I had to remove certain sequences in the installer. I norrowed down to ONE SEQUENCE PART that causes the problem - PERFORM CLEAN UP. When that step is REMOVED - installation finishes properly and without errors! I have environmental variables DELETED for any users. All the TEMP files go into Windows/Temp. There is no USER/TEMP. Maybe thats the reason for the errors on clean up? I do not see why though...
  17. Could this error be tied to the fact that when I go to COMPONENT SERVICES (Administrative Tools) and then click COMPUTER - the window closes/quits immediately after I double-click on COMPUTER. I saw many related things to that COMPUTER thing and installation errors. Maybe if I fix the COMPUTER QUIT error - it will fix the installer. But I don't know how to fit that.
  18. If the service would be DISABLED then the installation would not start in the first palce, but it does, goes to the very end and at the VERY END it says INTERRUPTED> I had this with previous BETA OF SP2. Then, I decided to have a clean installed. And I did, but the problem persists. 19. I don't think they know of this issue and quite frankly I don't think anyone really knows how to solve it.
  20. SP2 installed on a clean XP Pro SP1a installation. Everything works, but the **** Windows Installer. At the end of every installation it says THE PROCESS WAS INTERRUPTED and everything that was just installed erases itself. How do I fix this darn problem!? I know that I am not the only one who has this problem (I saw others compalin on other forums), so there has to be a fix! Oh, please! I just don't know WTF is going on. I tried to enable ALL the possible services, but it still wo't work. 21. I got it... SP2 RC2 automatically multiplies RWIN times 44 no matter what you do. Thats the way it SHOULD BE, but not for me because my special ISP modem has a feature that lowers your MTU by 8 automatically no matter what you set it to. Thus, MTU of 1500 will acctually be 1492, BUT WinXP SP2 RC2 does not take that in consideration (it can't, since the modem is on the hardware level), and sets my RWIN 44x1460 (RWIN = MSSx44, where MSS is 40 lower than your MTU) instead of 44x1452 which slows down my connection...by a little bit! Shoot...
  22. OK, did you figure out how to change any of this?
  23. SP2 RC2 has newer network code and Dr. TCP no longer lets me properly adjust my RWIN. The one it displays is not the one being used (tested at www.dslreports.com) Other programs, like iSpeed, can't properly set my RWIN to anything either. So, how do I change my RWIN with WinXP Pro SP2 RC2? I just want it to be 63536. Can't get it to that point... If nobody can answer, then please tell me the official MS NewsGroup address for SP2 help/testing stuff. Thanks!
