An ENORMOUS problem with MSI Installer!

Featured Replies

This horrible problem has beel following me for a while, and after one format is disappeared, and now its here again.

I have this BIG BIG problem with Windows XP SP2 MSI installation system. Pretty much games and applications that use InstallShield along with MSI Installer AND MSI Installer by itself (usually latest versions) end up installing themselves until the VERY end and then give me error saying THE SETUP WAS INTERRUPTED. Then the game or application removes itself.

I did install the ISSCRIPT thing thats for InstallShield. That made no effect.

I tried download latest MSI Installer from MS, but it said I have newer version when I tried to install it.

Some say I have to use dcomcnfg and mess with permission policies but this PC is set for just one user - Administrator, has no password or protections, and I have full access. ALso, I do not HAVE dcomcnfg! I type that command in RUN and it comes up with an error COULD NOT FIND...bla bla... I think its because I do not have that Component Services in Administrative Tools that sets policies. Its just not there...

I don't know what to do and how to fix this! I alerady know of 3 new games that do that to me.

Event Viewer shows ERROR ID 11708 for MSI Installer.

I USED GOOGLE and the only information I found was for some advanced tech guys who used MSI Installer to complilte installations. It was really complicated and offered NO SOLUTION AT ALL.

I can't figure this out at all. I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP!
