  1. well, it didn't return an error this time, but i don't think it worked. Nevermind, I'm not gonna bother with this anymore, it has already consumed so much of my time and it's such a small problem. A mod can lock this thread now.
  2. FILECOPY %cdrom%\blahblah.blah %systemdrive%\blahblah /Y The /Y switch makes it confirm itself, so a box doesn't pop up asking to confirm.
  3. okay, it worked. These updates are finally done with! Thanks for the help!
  4. Thanks, I'll try integrating that with nLite and see if it works. BTW, how do you find these packages? I thought I searched every single page on the internet that had the words "Root Certificates Update" on it, but I couldn't find the right installer package.
  5. okay, i'll try that out right now.
  6. ah, actually, the start command didn't work. It returned an undefined error. Well, that one thing isn't much of a problem, but I still need a way to install the Root Certificates Update. Doesn't anyone know how to do it?
  7. Anybody? Does no one know how to install the Root Certificates Update?
  8. Awesome, thanks! Of course, WPI puts in the cmd /c for you, right? so it would just be start C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache Okay, so, any solutions for installing Root Certificates Update? I've tried integrating it, installing, everything, but can't get it to work. Any help is hugely appreciated.
  9. alright I got that working. Now I just need to find out how to install the Root Certificates Update. I've tried everything, and it still shows up in WU. I'm out of ideas, does anyone here now how to install this thing?
  10. i want to open C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache in a windows explorer folder (don't worry, comp will restart like a second afterwards anyway). so, either in run or cmd prompt, i type: explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache However, if i type that into a cmd line in WPI, it doesn't work. Is there something I'm missing? EDIT: I'll try typing in %systemdrive%\WINDOWS\explorer.exe instead of just explorer.exe.....maybe that was the problem? also, does anyone know how to install the Root Certificates Update that appears on Windows Update? I tried running the installer, as well as extracting it and running rootsupd.exe with the .sst files, but neither way did anything (still shows up in WU). Thanks in advance!
  11. ah, apparently i do have KB932471, and i installed it after dotnetaio.exe with the /q switch, but apparently it didn't work (although the two other post-dotnetaio.exe updates did). Can somebody please help? I tried Root Certificates Update again, by extracting it and running updroots.exe with all the .sst files, but that didn't work either. I just need these two updates to work! Does anyone have any ideas?
  12. Root Certificates Update Update for .NET Framework 3.0: x86 (KB932471) I'm almost done with my unattended xp cd, all that's left are these two updates on WU. I can't get them to work. I tried integrating the Roots Certificate Update with nLite, and it seemed to have worked, but it still showed up on WU. As for KB932471, I can't even find the installer. I'm using WPI, btw. the Roots Certificate Update installer was rootsupd_2d9aeb49ce7e2e7ff250159c4e5b291104eef90c.exe in case you're interested.
  13. could you use AIM instead? I can't use messenger because my address is logged as a "kids account" for some reason....
  14. Hey guys, I've been working on an unattended xp cd for a while now, and this is my first post for help, so plz aid me! I've encountered a few problems, and I'll try to make this post as organized as possible. Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool (KB892130) I'm using WPI to install my apps/a few hotfixes, and I tried installing WGA using it. I extracted the package and got legitcheckcontrol.msi and setup.exe. I've tried installing both with the /q switch, and everything seems fine (the log says it installed successfully), and yet, when i go to windows update, i still have to download and install it. How do I make this work? .NET Framework I'm also using WPI to install this as well. I extracted 1.1 and 2.0, and for each of them I ran setup.exe with /q switch. The thing is, 2.0 worked fine (as well as the three security updates) and nothing appears in WU for it anymore, but 1.1 didn't work (nor 1.1 SP1, which installs after it). As for 3.0, I simply executed the executable with /q, and it appears to have worked, however it still appears in WU, along with an update for it. Can anyone tell me what's going on? Am I choosing the wrong file to run? Office 2003 SP2 From WU, it always fails. So, I dled the package (101 MB full file one), and try to run that from WPI after office installs, and seems to have worked (like everything else I installed), but it still appears in WU (and still fails). Another thing, can someone explain to me what the difference is between running the msi or the exe? Does it matter which one you run? I've attached the log that WPI created, in case that helps. That's it for now, thanks in advance. EDIT: ran the iso in VMware, btw. wpilog.txt
