Upgrade your routers firmware, I had a SMC7004ABR that came with really bad firmware (it would go into sleep mode every few hours and only resetting it manually got the connection back). Now, it works perfectly after a firmware upgrade.

It probably would be as most hosting applications are made for Linux/Unix. Might want to decide what application you are going to use (for billing, bandwidth monitoring, account monitoring, etc). before deciding on the server. I run the ClearInfo site on a 450Mhz Debian Linux box, and its blazing fast to generate the pages; I just need a better connection

It depends what you are going to use it for, JSP, PHP, MySQL, PostgreSQL will not work good on Windows, they will just hog memory and load very slowly under large loads (believe me I tried it ). If its ASP, ColdFusion and mSQL then the obvious choice is Windows. I would go for the Linux one since I do mostly PHP and MySQL stuff.

You can also use your video card for that, most Geforce and Radeon cards have RCA and svideo in built in.
