  1. You beat me to it I had to load the spell checker and type it again
  2. We will need more information to fully diagnose your problem. Also your question could be a little clearer. Is your problem that your computer wont auto boot to your optical drive or that your computer will not run auto play when you insert disk? If it is the first I would most likely say your cdrom is not first in your boot order or that your cdrom drive could be bad. If it is the second it could be a couple of things but I would rather know more information before listing what is possible and what needs to be fixed. Please respond with a clearer question and more information. Also make sure that your drive can hand the type of media you're giving it. Some drives only play specific media so a DVD-r will not play but a DVD+r will and vice versa. I know you said your was a CD but I am just making an example.
  3. I was wondering what was available during setup. Ive seen 7zip being used and I'm sure there are other programs and such able to run. The reason I'm asking is id like to start working on a program. Will most any program work as long as it can be called and ran in console? Look forward to your responses
  4. I was wondering if there was a way to have a program run during setup that would take snapshot of hardware and use wget to pull the drivers off http then un7z them and let windows do its thing. That would save tons of space on my install dvd and then i could include all my programs including word and photoshop... It would help to make the install process shorter as well considering i use the driverpacks from drivers.net and it has to go through all of them in the beginning and it takes forever. Sly
  5. Ok Now that i looked at this for a little longer and read the oemscan instructions txt I have a few questions as well as offerings. First the offerings: I would like to mirror the oembios repository. I currently have 2000 gb to use on my web hosting server and a matched 2000 gb monthly transfer limit. I think if the files were offered differently it would be much easier to understand start and finish this product. I would like to 7z the oembios files in the correct directory structure with the oemscan.ini that matches for all the oembios file sets that we have. This way you could download one 7z file extract to the oemscan folder and then just remove the things you don't want instead of having to manually add all the ones you do. Maybe also i could host some tutorials on how to implement oemscan in unattended AIO DVDs for Techs and such... Second Questions: Why are there oembios crossed off the repository? Also the torrent files are down i know that you cant distribute them through the forum but is there any other way to get them. Also Each set of oembios files has to go in a seperate folder right? So if there are two dell sets then the Folder structure would be Dell\set1\ and Dell\set2\
  6. Ok i am no expert at this by any means, however when i ran into that problem it was because i had removed Hardware Drivers via Nlite and forgot to slipstream hardware drivers into my install. I then used the driver packs from www.driverpacks.net and slipstreamed them into my source and it worked perfect. A full tutorial can be found below http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=1449
  7. right on well i already made a AIODVD with xp home and pro retail/oem 2000 98se so i can do my reinstalls easier at work. But im not exactly sure how to get the oembios to switch after the scan if that makes since. What exactly does oemscan.exe do? Just Scan or actually scan match and replace before copy? Do i need to write my own script to have it replace... The thread was so very long and went back and forth im lost as to how to actually have the disk scan for which oembios then tell the computer to copy those on setup. Any help would be appreciated. I guess it would have helped if i would have downloaded the Zip and read the info files... Sorry bout that
  8. Just had this problem today. I used nlite to delete drivers you needed to slip them back in by using driver packs from www.driverpacks.net ... After the slipstream it worked perfect...
  9. I am planning to make a multiboot dvd and am getting my plan together to start the project Things I would Like to have on disk... [install OS] XP -----> Home SP3 Royalty (OEMBIOS REPLACEMENT/OEMBIOS SCAN)(Full Driver Support) -----> Home SP3 Retail key (Setupp.ini PID=51882335)(Full Driver Support) -----> Home SP3 OEM Key (Setupp.ini PID=51882OEM)(Full Driver Support) -----> Pro SP3 Retail key (Setupp.ini PID=51882335)(Full Driver Support) -----> Pro SP3 OEM Key (Setupp.ini Setupp.ini PID=51882OEM)(Full Driver Support) -----> Pro SP3 Royalty (OEMBIOS REPLACEMENT/OEMBIOS SCAN)(Full Driver Support) -----> Mce SP3 Royalty (OEMBIOS REPLACEMENT/OEMBIOS SCAN)(Full Driver Support) -----> Mce SP3 OEM(Setupp.ini Setupp.ini PID=76487OEM)(Full Driver Support) -----> Mce SP3 Retail(Setupp.ini Setupp.ini PID=76487335)(Full Driver Support) -----> Custom Pro SP3 Royalty (OEMBIOS REPLACEMENT/OEMBIOS SCAN)(Full Driver Support) -----> Custom Mce SP3 Royalty (OEMBIOS REPLACEMENT/OEMBIOS SCAN)(Full Driver Support) 2000 -----> Professional SP4 (Full Driver Support/Should be same as XP) [boot Disk] -----> 98se Bootdisk [AIO-Utils] -----> Ultimate Boot Cd I would appreciate any help from people that have done this sort of project before... First i will slipstream my os's with the newest servicepacks/updates. Then Change the PIDs (easier then taking source from each cd). Next I will Slipstream the driver packs. Setup the Unnattended scripts with the basic info (OWNER for name and * for computer name etc) and will skip the key until first boot if possible. After this i have to figure out how to script the oemscan.exe found in the forums to auto find and replace oembios files before copy to install os. Then Setup my multiboot by utilizing the guide found at the following url: http://flyakite.msfn.org/ And after all is good with that then id like to use wpi to help make software install customizeable... Any thoughts?...
  10. Why can he not just slipstream windows with sp3, use the driver packs from driverpacks.net, and use RunOnceEx found in the guide here http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/view/web/31/ To distribute his software, Would this not setup windows how he likes on different machines with different hardware? Also Nlite for that matter mixed with RunOnceEx and or wpi and or wihu... Would also acheive this. The only difference i see is that its not EXACTLY from your installed copy right now (at least not like an exact bit for bit copy)... But you would have Windows with the programs you like all the updates / servicepacks, all your favorite tweaks (shutting of system restore and setting performance tab options etc), and the slipstreamed drivers should pick up most 90% of hardware...
  11. Posted without double checking... Will try to add the line and get back to you
  12. Wow That was a long thread to read... and now i got the gist but at the same time am left at where to start.... I would like to incorporate all this into my multiboot disk (xp, pro, home, mce, 2000, 98se, hirens, etc) If someone might explain the process and bring all this thread into a small how to type post I would appreciate it. Right now i have Oem and Retail versions of xp home pro and mce... also i have Dell sp2 Royalty copies for xp pro home and mce as well as vista... What do i need (tools and files) to begin and what is the basic steps to take... Thanks in advance. Mrd05d

  14. Ok heres the steps ive taken maybe someone can tell me where i went wrong... Started with source files from a Dell Royalty Disk (for activation reasons). Then used Nlite to update service pack to SP3 and to do my registry tweaks as well as remove unwanted items and make my unattended... Then Used DPs_BASE.exe to slipstream driver packs from DriverPacks.net. Then used makeiso to make the iso. Threw it in VirtualBox and everything goes as plan except the Computer Name dialog comes up and has what i have in winnt.sif highlighted. So i have to manually press enter and then everything works like a charm... Ive tried switching the comp name in winnt.sif to * without success. Has anyone ran into this problem? Is it because of VirtualBox or something else? Below is my winnt.sif ; Generated by nLite 1.4.7 [Data] AutomaticUpdates="No" Autopartition=0 MsDosInitiated=0 UnattendedInstall="Yes" [unattended] UnattendMode=FullUnattended UnattendSwitch="Yes" OemPreinstall="Yes" OemSkipEula="Yes" FileSystem=* WaitForReboot="No" NoWaitAfterTextMode=1 NoWaitAfterGUIMode=1 DriverSigningPolicy=Ignore NonDriverSigningPolicy=Ignore [systemRestore] DisableSR=1 CreateFirstRunRp=0 [GuiUnattended] EncryptedAdminPassword="No" AutoLogon="Yes" TimeZone=35 OEMSkipRegional=1 OemSkipWelcome=1 [Components] [identification] JoinWorkgroup="WORKGROUP" [userData] ProductKey=xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx FullName="Owner" OrgName="@work" ComputerName=* [Networking] InstallDefaultComponents="Yes" [WindowsFirewall] Profiles=WindowsFirewall.TurnOffFirewall [WindowsFirewall.TurnOffFirewall] Mode=0 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks for your help...
  15. That link isnt working for me? Also I am trying to slipstream srvc pack 3 and then maybe win32 will allow same key and get the boot files right. If this works ill let you know. Is there any other way to make the boot folders (IE PRO1 PRO2 HOM1 HOM2) Without doing the winnt32.exe /noreboot???
  16. Ok for some more information... I have what I think is to be concidered a royalty oem disk pack sort of thing used by large companies such as dell to preinstall all there copies of stuff. So when i use the XP Pro Royalty it works like a charm. If i use Nlite and slipstream, minus components, tweak performance, etc it works like a charm as well. But when i Try to have cdshell.ini boot it (Having to use PRO1 Folder) It forces it to act as an upgrade cd. I think i may have found what is going on but am not sure. When i run winnt32 /noreboot on it it wont accept the royalty key that came with that cd instead it only accepts the key of the OS i am using... Like if i am on my desktop which is xp mce it looks for an mce key if i am running on laptop it asks for xp pro cd key but will not accept my royalty key? Any thoughts would be helpful. ~Sly~
  17. Ok i Created an AIODVD with xp pro and pro, 2Kpro, 98 etc. All was working so i am now trying to do the more complicated things. So i tried applying hotfixes to the XP Pro first. (I used Nlite and slipstreamed the ryanvm pack, Then used the winnt32.exe /no reboot to get the boot files and then did the hex editing followed by the txtsetup redirect. Then Put the winnt.sif file made by nlite into PRO1 folder.) When i run it in virtualpc it Comes up with a screen that asks me to insert a prior version of windows as if i am installing an upgrade but i am not? Did i do something i shouldnt have? (Maybe i shouldnt have ran winnt32.exe /no reboot again?) Thanks in advance. ~Sly~
  18. I guess i should have been a little more direct. I have a couple different ideas on how to do it including using grub etc. What i was actually meaning to ask was how or what do i have grub point to? Like in the DVD AIO i have the bootloader (cdshell i think) point to dat files????
  19. I want to take my AIODVD and make it so after installing my os of choice it leaves a copy of the unattended in a separate premade partition (Much Like hp or dells backup partition). How do i imitate the cd on the hard drive? The boot sector on a cd is totally different from a hd right?
