  1. I haven't had the chance to investigate any further but I should have some time in a few days. I have another question though, I noticed with the scripts there are a bunch of $OEM$ and registry files. But I have noticed they do not copy (nor does my OEMinfo.ini and OEM.bmp) There seems to be a discrepancy in which option in the winnt.sif that copies files from the $OEM$ folder. Its supposed to be OEMPreinstall option - the one that breaks F6 compatibility.. but.. In fact I made a cd with Nlite to see what was going on, and it still didn't copy those files. Very strange.
  2. So, strangely enough.. I have found a bug perhaps. I believe it is hardware specific though. I have a Corsair Flash Voyager 4gb usb stick. One of its features is wear leveling. http://www.corsair.com/_faq/FAQ_flash_driv...ar_leveling.pdf After doing several reads and writes and modifications to the files on this usb stick, it somehow became unbootable. Since the ntldr is geometry specific, and this drive moves data around for wear leveling, I belive its somehow related. Solution, please make it possible to rewrite the mbr and extract the bootsector without having to format.
  3. I have a question about the issues installing 1.1 before 3. If I slipstream into my source DNF11.exe, and DNF20.exe. And use GUIRUNONCE to install DNF30.exe after the first login, is there any problems? Something I read in this thread caught my eye, but I'm not sure I understood it completely? Something about additional features? Thanks, good work btw.
  4. Well, that would be it. I'm trying it now with a Greek version of XP. I'll let you know how it goes. And thanks for yours and everyone else involved hard work!!
  5. ilko_t I am still having some problems with installing from usb. During the txtmode setup process, it asks for some missing files. kbdbhc.dll and I'm sure it will also ask about missing driver files. As in my previous post, these files are not copied when /makelocalsource or /makelocalsource:all is called. But they do exist my i386 source directory. My previous fix, to copy the *.dll from the source seems to work, but do you have any ideas what is going on? I am using the usb_prep4 to setup the usb stick.
  6. Well there are several reasons. 1. In my personal experience, not integrating it last causes some simple but strange problems. Such as empty desktop.ini thrown everywhere etc. As well as the occasional non functional IE7. 2. After much hard work, I found a single post in the Ryan VM forums that also confirmed my findings. Actually it could be the other way around. I think I was having problems until I found the post that said IE7 must be integrated alone, and last. *** UPDATE **** According to this post... http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?...ghlight=wscript In some cases, the order of integration is also important! Usually, you will need to worry about this only when using this update addon with another addon that updates built-in Microsoft components. * If you use an IE7 addon, the IE7 addon must be integrated after this update addon, but before Windows Script 5.7 (if installing WS5.7) This is possibly why I am having issues with the IE7 addon pack, since I am install Windows Script 5.7
  7. My Build Order for a Customized XP CD 1. Copy source files from XP source media, to a location on disk. ex. C:\src \i386\ \WIN51 \WIN51IP \WIN51IP.SP2 \SETUP.EXE \AUTORUN.INF 2. Windows Media Player 11 integrator. a. Select windows source. b. Select media player source c. Select media player hotfixes. 3. RVM Integrator a. Update pack, RVMUpdatePack2.1.11.7z b. Other updates dotnetaio.exe jre6u1.exe NOD32_2.7.exe NR_EUEfontUpdate_Addon_1.1-ReCabbed.7z ProgramAddons_Firefox_2.0.0.6.cab RUPUpdates-2.1.11.13-Addon.7z RVMAddons_1.8.2.7z RVMAddonsDX9_1.4.7z WScript57-1.0.0-Addon.7z (Update- install last after IE7 integration, or do everything with NLITE) Xable_Foxit_v3.0_addon.cab 4. Nlite a. Hotfixes, Addons and Update Packs IE7,OnePiece_IE7AddOn_1.8.0_ENU.7z IMPORTANT NEWBIE NOTE: INTERNET EXPLORER 7 ADDONS (IE7) NEEDS TO BE THE LAST INTEGRATED ADDON WITH ANY OF THE INTEGRATION PROGRAMS. THAT MEANS IF YOU ARE INTEGRATING ANOTHER ADDON SUCH AS WINRAR, INTEGRATE IT FIRST, THEN RESTART THE NLITE PROCESS WITH ONLY IE7. ALSO I AM AWARE THAT IE7 CAN BE INTEGRATED WITH RVMI b. Unattended Settings These settings removed, but can be used as a printable checklist for your use. 5. Driver Packs a. Driverpacks Chipset 7.09 CPU 7.04.1 LAN 7.09.1 MassStorage 7.09.1 3rd Party Driverpacks DP_Virtual_wnt5_x86-32_708.7z DP_Monitor_wnt5_x86-32_070827.7z DP_Input_wnt5_x86-32_070113.7z DP_Modem_wnt5_x86-32_709.7z DriverPack MassStorage text mode b. Driverpacks Method - Method 2 c. KTD - Keep the Drivers Enable KTD for ALL slipstreamed DriverPacks KTD cache location (Is there a problem with the %systempath% environment variable? It doesnt work on my DriverPack Base 7.05.2 I have to set it manually.) C:\windows\DriverPacks d. Quickstream Cache - Disabled 6. OEM Branding a. Copy the $OEM$ to the modified source. ex. C:\src\$OEM$ The files located here, should be automatically copied to c:\windows\system32 during the install process. Of course this is dependent on the OEMPREINSTALL checkbox in NLITE. There is a workaround though. I can't find my notes though $OEM$\$$\system32\ KeyUpdateTool_enu.exe - Key Changer - very useful, allows changing of VLK into valid OEM license. oeminfo.ini oemlogo.bmp 7. Nlite a. Select modified source, then Bootable iso. Direct Burn. Volume Label - VRMPVOL_EN With these settings, everything fits onto a 700MB cd. I am aware that some of these may be out of date, if someone that knows of newer version of these files could copy any paste their files into this same post, possibly we can keep an up to date list of this process? I am also having a problem with the OnePiece_IE7AddOn_1.8.0_ENU.7z integration. Windows update doesn't seem to work. ActiveX installation of the plugin on that site doesn't proceed. I never get the ActiveX popup. I'm going to try it again a little later. Hope this is useful for someone.
  8. The next step that I am unsure on how to progress is using the DriverPacks. I just found the prepare_USB.zip which has something in there to assist, but I haven't had a chance to look at the command. If someone has integrated the Driverpacks with the USB install could they chime in with their steps?
  9. I have successfully accomplished this install using the guide. This is a crosspost from http://www.msfn.org/board/Install_XP_USB_t...tml#entry701945 As I am not sure whether everyone will get to read this on page 20+.. heh A few notes, Stock XP VLK install works seamlessly. I first attempted using the Grub bootloader, works fine. Now I am using the extracted bootsector, renamed to skip using GRUB and boot directly from NTLDR into the TXTMODE SETUP. This process was posted by ilko_t here http://www.msfn.org/board/boot_install_USB...376#entry671376 Also works fine. Here's the next problem. Trying to install a custom XP build. RVM/NLITE/YADAYADA Addon most of the current hotfixes and extras such as WMP11 and IE7. Important note about Nlite and RVM customized XPs for USB. Make sure to use winnt32 /makelocalsource:all /unattend:winnt.sif /noreboot The /unattend:winnt.sif makes sure that the nlite version of the winnt.sif is used. Yes, you still have to edit it and remove the [unattended] section. I didn't at first and because it didn't give me the choice of which disk / partition to use, it said my drive F: (usb disk) was corrupt and unfixable. First problem - SOLVED During TXTMODE it asks for the Windows XP SP2 Disc 2 - This is fixed using /makelocalsource:all The guide needs to reflect that. While using this switch, there was a bunch of missing files (for Tablet PC and Media Center? versions.) I skipped those files. Second problem - SOLVED - but needs some work. Second problem, during textmode it asks for quite a few dlls and files that are MISSING from the /makelocalsource:all copy. These files are present in my i386 (nlited and rvmi) source directory. A few of them are , kbdhc.dll , kbdiultn.dll , kbdnepr.dll and more. I solved this by copying all of the .dll files from my i386 (nlited and rvmi) source in to the $WIN_NT$.~LS directory on my USB stick. I did not overwrite files. Then setup gets a bit further and starts to ask for some driver files. Specifically amdk6.sys and amdk7.sys To fix this I extracted driver.cab and copied the entire thing into my $WIN_NT$.~LS directory as well. Once again I did not overwrite files. At this point the installation is continuing. Can someone tell me why these steps are necessary ? Did I do something wrong? Also I have been following the whole process in all the various threads, I still don't understand what the binifix is for? Can someone explain?
