  1. Hey Guys, Got a pretty simple question. I've seen on a few PC's that the HDD Drive letter is something other than C:, it's E: F: etc... I've tried going in through disk management in XP, and attempted to change the drive letter there, but have been unsuccessful. I was able to change the drive letter using Partition Magic 8.0, and I'm not a fan of it whatsoever. It changed the drive letter, but now the PC gets to the welcome screen of XP, and goes no further. I was also wanting to know what other utility is out there other than Partition Magic 8.0 -- is there something that is better than this. Any input on resolving this issue will be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
  2. Hey Guys, Here's the code I've got so far for the embedded media player.. <OBJECT ID="MediaPlayer1" width=160 height=162 classid="CLSID:22D6F312-B0F6-11D0-94AB-0080C74C7E95" codebase= "http://activex.microsoft.com/activex/controls/mplayer/en/nsmp2inf.cab#Version=6,0,02,902" standby="Loading Microsoft® Windows® Media Player components..." type="application/x-oleobject"> <PARAM NAME="FileName" VALUE="http://webserver/path/your-file.asx">'>http://webserver/path/your-file.asx"> <PARAM NAME="AutoStart" VALUE="false"> <EMBED type="application/x-mplayer2" pluginspage = "http://www.microsoft.com/Windows/MediaPlayer/" SRC="http://webserver/path/your-file.asx" name="MediaPlayer1" width=160 height=162 AutoStart=false> </EMBED> </OBJECT> But, what I'm trying to do is to be able to play multiple files, or give the option to choose which file they would like to view in the embedded player. How do I go about doing this, or can someone refer me to a site of where to see how to make this work. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
  3. Hey Guys, Got an HP Pavilion 552w with MS Windows XP Home I'm working on for a client, and when the system boots up, it's displaying a message about this copy of windows is not Genuine, and ask if you would like to get genuine. I've tried numerous repairs, and other bypass things to try and get around this, but I'm not making any progress with it at all. I was wondering has anyone ever seen this on a name brand PC, that has a legitimate copy of Windows XP loaded on the PC. Is there a way around this to re-register the copy of XP loaded on the PC??? or what options do I have to resolve this issue for this client???? Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
  4. Hey Guys, Trying to do a backup on a client's PC to retrieve the e-mail, contacts, and outlook settings. I'm not able to access the application do to corruption from the recent KB925902 update to the PC, is there another way to recover the data from within the Outlook Application, such as registry, or within windows folders??? or where exactly does the data for Outlook reside on the PC??? Any input on this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
  5. Hey Guys, For those of you who use BartPE, is there anyway to run a virus/ad/spyware scan on the HDD, once it's in another system, and booted off the BartPE Bootable CD?? Also does it allow for add-ons of any type?? Thanks for the input
  6. Hey Guys, thanks for all the replies, I downloaded, and ran BartPE, and those folders did not show up there either, so I guess that they are not going to cause any problems with the drive, anyway, I'm bout to the point of reformatting the drive anyway, since it has so much virus, porn, and ad/spyware infections on it. thanks for all the support and references to those utilities. Thanks,
  7. :realmad: Ok Guys, Here goes, this is really making me mad, and I just can't figure this one out. I've got a HDD I'm working on for a client, and it has 2 folders I'm trying to delete, because of virus & porn infections on the PC. The strange thing is that both of these folders show up in my Data Recovery Application... as it is here... --> you can clearly see them, the 2 with the arrows pointing at them. Ok, now here's what it looks like just through My Computer. --> I've also got it set on the Folder Properties to show hidden files/folders, and also show hidden windows system files, but yet these folders do not show up for me to delete. If anyone knows of a way that I can delete these, please inform me on how to do so??? I've been looking for some delete programs to clear deleted folders, since I'm thinking that this is what this is relating to, but not sure. Any Input on this will be greatly appreciated Thanks,
  8. Windows live messenger setup error code 1603 1) Click Start > Run 2) Type msiexec /unreg and press enter and wait until it appears to have finished. 3) Go back to Start > Run 4) Type msiexec /regserver and press enter. 5) Try to install MSN Messenger again. Good luck! If this doesn't work, try: C:\documents and settings\all users\application data\microsoft\ Then select the folder "IdentityCRL" remove the folder. Since the error is occuring due to "ppcrlconfig.dll" directory correction. Then run the setup and this time it will be able to install. Labels: error code 1603 How can I uninstall Messenger Plus! Live? Messenger Plus! Live can be uninstalled like any other software on your computer. In Windows XP, click on "Start\Control Panel" and select "Add/Remove Programs". In the list that will be displayed, select "Messenger Plus! Live" or "Messenger Plus! Live & Sponsor", click on "Remove" and follow the instructions. Messenger Plus! will be uninstalled quickly from your system along with the sponsor if you previously installed it. Some files will be removed only after you restart your computer (note: chat logs won't be removed automatically). MS Live Messenger Plus! Registry Settings <-- Location of all files related to the MS Live Messenger, one of these ways should allow you to be able to remove all references of the application. Let me know if this doesn't work, and I'll see what else I can figure out for you. Thanks,
  9. Hey Guys, Was wondering if anyone knows where I can find some software or a client the will allow me to connect to an MSN Hotmail Account for MSN Messenger on my Blackberry 7130E on Cellular South Network?? Any input greatly appreciated. Thanks,
  10. 1st thing that I would check is to go under services.msc -- and check the settings of the print spooler. It should be set to automatic startup. I would also try stopping it and restarting it, I've seen this cause some problems before with printers, and it's generally fixes the issue. If not, I'll do what I can to help you resolve the issue. Thanks,
  11. ok, thanks, I'll see what happens.. Oh yeah.. very nice support forum by the way Thanks,
  12. So you're saying that this option is no longer available to me, or it's been disabled from my profile???? And basically I'm not gonna be able to change it then, right???? Thanks,
  13. Ok, did what you said, and I get no custom member title under that part of my profile, here's a screen shot for the proof. Thanks,
  14. Hey guys, I'm trying to figure out how to change this where the arrow is pointing to, to a custom name or saying, and I can't seem to figure it out?? where do I go to change it, or am I not allowed to do so??? I've already gone under my profile, and set a personal statement, but that's not showing up anywhere, except in my profile viewer. Thanks for the input.
  15. Ok, next thing I would recommend is going into Safe Mode, and deleting all the references of that VcCleanup.exe file that way, going thru all the windows temp folders, as well as the registry Keys I posted above, and run the Symantec Removal Tool under Safe Mode. I would also do a search of all HDD's installed in your system for the file, if any are found navigate to where they reside, and delete any reference that it may find. Other than that, I really can't think of much else right now. Hope this helps
  16. Okay, here's the info on that file.... VcCleanup.exe -- The following information gives a description of what it applies to, and does. Symantec Venice Component CleanUp. This is a cleanup task which is installed by many of the Symantec products (Norton AntiVirus, Internet Security, PCAnywhere) when you do a manual LiveUpdate and where one of the updates is an update to the LiveReg Symantec program. The purpose of this startup entry is to perform post-LiveUpdate clean-up tasks on the next reboot of the PC – once those clean-up tasks have been performed, this entry is automatically removed from the Startups tab. Ok, here's what you need to do to get rid of the pop-up message. 1st -- Go to Start -- Run -- type MSCONFIG -- and go to the startup tab, and find that VcCleanup.exe start up key in there, and delete it. then 2nd -- Go to Start -- Regedit, and navigate to these keys, once there delete anything in there relating to the VcCleanup.exe, as well as Symantec --> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEx HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServicesOnce That should stop the popup message from loading on your PC, if this still does not resolve the issue, please let me know, and I'll do some more research for you. Thanks,
  17. That's some files registered to Symantec -- try downloading this removal tool, and see if it gets rid of that file.. I've run into this issue alot with Symantec, and this is one of the best, if not the only way to remove it, when it doesn't want to work right thru the Add/Remove Programs, in the control panel Here's the download link to it -->Symantec Removal Utility If that doesn't work, I'll see what else I can find. Thanks,
  18. Thank you so much guys, that's exactly what I was looking for
  19. Mainly just using msconfig.exe utility for troubleshooting reasons, for startup things loading at system boot, and diagnostics for the system. That's really my main reason for finding a utility or something that will maximize the window, instead of having to scroll through all the stuff in the small window that it gives you, just to really make it easier. Thanks,
  20. Hey, thanks for all the replies, I'll see what I can figure out, if you come up with anything else, I'll keep in touch
  21. Ok, downloaded the ResHack, did exactly what you said as above, changed the code to STYLE WS_MAXIMIZEBOX | WS_MINIMIZEBOX | WS_VISIBLE | WS_CLIPSIBLINGS | WS_CAPTION | WS_SYSMENU | WS_THICKFRAME went to compile, and then file - save - exit, then go to run command - msconfig, and still as it was before, am I overlooking something, or not doing something right??? Ok, I see what it's doing now, it keeps going back to the STYLE DS_FIXEDSYS | DS_MODALFRAME | WS_POPUP | WS_VISIBLE | WS_CAPTION | WS_SYSMENU, after I changed it to the STYLE WS_MAXIMIZEBOX | WS_MINIMIZEBOX | WS_VISIBLE | WS_CLIPSIBLINGS | WS_CAPTION | WS_SYSMENU | WS_THICKFRAME, compile the script, save the changes as msconfig.exe in the directory c:\windows\pchealth\helpctr\binaries
  22. How do I find this ResHacker program or utility?????? Thanks for the reply
  23. Does anyone know a way to maximize the msconfig.exe utility screen in XP. Maybe a code, script, or regedit command that will make it work??? Doing this for troubleshooting purposes. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
  24. If any of you are wondering about the XP SP3, well here's the proof of that. XP Home & Pro SP3 Slated Release Date. I myself have always, and will be a big user and fan of XP Pro, and I have no intention of ever switching to Vista any time soon, I've seen way to many problems with it, and 1st off, it's way to early in the development stage to switch, half the main PC Components developers haven't even caught up with Vista yet, and the ones that have are just now getting in their own development of Vista Compatible drivers, and patches to apply to current devices in systems. So if MS does ever decide to release SP3 for XP Home & Pro, all I can really say about it, is I hope it happens, because I'm not willing to get off XP anytime soon, and only hope MS has no intention of ending XP like it's done with everything else prior to XP. Thanks
