  5. <InstallToAvailablePartition>false</InstallToAvailablePartition> <WillShowUI>OnError</WillShowUI> Remove <InstallToAvailablePartition> Change <WillShowUI> to Always Thanks. No change though. Disk configuration screen still doesn't appear. Strangely when I try running it on my physical system rather than vmware the Disk configuration screen does appear. Disk configuration screen shows up in VMware on non unattended iso though, just not if AUTOUNATTEND.XML is present.
  6. Ok, i've created an iso and tried installing in VMware. The problem is the Disk configuration screen never appears. Installation starts and then reboots in an infinite loop. Here's my AUTOUNATTEND.XML file: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <unattend xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:unattend"> <settings pass="windowsPE"> <component name="Microsoft-Windows-International-Core-WinPE" processorArchitecture="amd64" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="nonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> <SetupUILanguage> <UILanguage>en-GB</UILanguage> </SetupUILanguage> <InputLocale>0809:00000809</InputLocale> <SystemLocale>en-GB</SystemLocale> <UILanguage>en-GB</UILanguage> <UserLocale>en-GB</UserLocale> </component> <component name="Microsoft-Windows-Setup" processorArchitecture="amd64" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="nonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> <UserData> <ProductKey> <WillShowUI>OnError</WillShowUI> <Key>XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXX</Key> </ProductKey> <AcceptEula>true</AcceptEula> </UserData> <Display> <ColorDepth>32</ColorDepth> <HorizontalResolution>1280</HorizontalResolution> <VerticalResolution>1024</VerticalResolution> </Display> <ImageInstall> <OSImage> <InstallFrom> <MetaData wcm:action="add"> <Value>2</Value> <Key>/IMAGE/INDEX</Key> </MetaData> </InstallFrom> <InstallToAvailablePartition>false</InstallToAvailablePartition> <WillShowUI>OnError</WillShowUI> </OSImage> </ImageInstall> <EnableFirewall>false</EnableFirewall> </component> </settings> <settings pass="specialize"> <component name="Microsoft-Windows-Security-Licensing-SLC-UX" processorArchitecture="amd64" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="nonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> <SkipAutoActivation>true</SkipAutoActivation> </component> </settings> <settings pass="oobeSystem"> <component name="Microsoft-Windows-Shell-Setup" processorArchitecture="amd64" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="nonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> <AutoLogon> <Password> <Value>bQBpAG4AbgBpAGUAUABhAHMAcwB3AG8AcgBkAA==</Value> <PlainText>false</PlainText> </Password> <Enabled>true</Enabled> <Username>Administrator</Username> <LogonCount>2</LogonCount> </AutoLogon> <Display> <ColorDepth>32</ColorDepth> <VerticalResolution>1024</VerticalResolution> <HorizontalResolution>1280</HorizontalResolution> <DPI>96</DPI> </Display> <OOBE> <HideEULAPage>true</HideEULAPage> <NetworkLocation>Home</NetworkLocation> <ProtectYourPC>3</ProtectYourPC> <SkipMachineOOBE>true</SkipMachineOOBE> <SkipUserOOBE>true</SkipUserOOBE> </OOBE> <TimeZone>GMT Standard Time</TimeZone> </component> <component name="Microsoft-Windows-International-Core" processorArchitecture="amd64" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="nonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> <InputLocale>0809:00000809</InputLocale> <SystemLocale>en-GB</SystemLocale> <UserLocale>en-GB</UserLocale> <UILanguage>en-GB</UILanguage> </component> </settings> <cpi:offlineImage cpi:source="wim:c:/vistawork/dvd/sources/install.wim#Windows Longhorn SERVERENTERPRISE" xmlns:cpi="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:cpi" /> </unattend> Any ideas?
  7. Thanks. VVersion is now set correctly. Just found what was causing the ImgX problem. In your prepare.cmd you've written the following: ::so the whole line looks like this: :: ::SETX Imgx "%Programfiles%\Windows AIK\Tools\amd64" -m "SETX Imgx" however should read "SETX ImgX". The X in ImgX being a capital Letter. Anyway problem solved now, thanks for the help
  8. I'm getting the following error when running mount_install_wim.cmd: VVersion= NOT DECLARED! ImgX= NOT DECLARED! 2 environment variables are not setted. So the procedure can't be continued. Check Control Panel \ System \ Avanced \ to find out, if all environment variables were setted correctly. You will find more informations about that inside Vista guide in "Preparation\ Prepare directories". I adjusted the value of ImgX variable BEFORE executing the PrepLab.cmd, as stated in the x64 notes for PrepLab.cmd. Imgx shows up under "system variables", but VVersion is missing. Any ideas how to fix this?
  9. Just finished installing my custom Windows Server 2003. The problem I've got is that most of the Administration Tools such as Event Viewer, Computer Management etc won't run. My Last Session ini file is attached. Any ideas?
  10. Is there any app or tweak out there that would allow me to copy/paste in a similar vein to in linux, i.e highlighting text would copy it, middle clicking would paste it.
  11. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Reliability] "ShutdownReasonOn"=dword:00000000
  12. Although this is for the Server version of Genie Backup Manager, it should work for the pro version too (although line two needs to be modified to the correct path of Genie Backup Professional). Genie.js: var WshShell = WScript.CreateObject ("WScript.Shell"); WshShell.RUN ("\"%systemdrive%\\Program Files\\Genie-Soft\\GBMServer6.0\\GBMPro.exe\""); WScript.Sleep(5000); WshShell.SendKeys ("{TAB}"); WScript.Sleep(500); WshShell.SendKeys ("{TAB}"); WScript.Sleep(500); WshShell.SendKeys ("{ENTER}"); WScript.Sleep(3000); WshShell.SendKeys ("%h"); WScript.Sleep(1000); WshShell.SendKeys ("{DOWN 6}"); WScript.Sleep(2000); WshShell.SendKeys ("{ENTER}"); WScript.Sleep(500); WshShell.SendKeys ("{TAB 2}"); WScript.Sleep(500); WshShell.SendKeys ("Enter Serial Here: No Spaces or Dashes"); WScript.Sleep(500); WshShell.SendKeys ("{TAB 3}"); WScript.Sleep(500); WshShell.SendKeys ("{ENTER}"); WScript.Sleep(500); WshShell.SendKeys ("{ENTER}"); WScript.Sleep(2000); WshShell.RUN ("taskkill /F /IM GBMPro.exe");
  13. I'm having trouble moving one particular item within the start menu. The item in question is Alcohol 120%. I'm using the command below to move the folder: MOVE "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Start Menu\Programs\Alcohol 120%" "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Start Menu\Programs\Burning Apps" However when I run the batch file I get the following error: MOVE "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Alcohol 120ALLUSERSPROFILE\Start Menu\Programs\Burning Apps" The system cannot find the path specified. The % in the Folder name seems to be causing the problem. Any idea how I can get it to work? Thanks.
  14. Just use XP drivers from the manufacturer's site. With regards to Bitdefender, you can use the script from the post below to remove the setup os check (which should allow you to install it): http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showto...10entry369736
  15. You could try Perfectdisk's offline defrag, plus disable any services which you don't use.
  16. Plus loads of pointless services automaically set to on by default, msn, the search puppy, UPAP, and god knows how much other crap installed. Personally all the games/apps I've used all work under win 2003, so I've no need to install XP. I certainly don't think it's Win XP on steriods. More like Win XP without all the garbage that it includes.
  17. I had same problem with Reshacker and that particular bitmap. Resource Tuner opens it ok though, so I ended up using that to change it.
  18. You shouldn't even need to do that. Most should install fine anyway, even with Win file protection enabled. You should only get that message if the driver isn't signed, i.e not a WHQL driver. All XP WHQL drivers should install without any problems. I thought Part Image was a partition backup program, not a program for creating, modifying partitions?
  19. Maybe not but, all the apps, games I've used work ok. With regards to drivers, 99.9% of the time XP drivers work. In terms of a partition creator, I use Acronis Partion Expert. Does pretty much everything I need it for, including Linux partitions.
  20. Ok, found the problem. On a normal 2k3 without Sp1, with an MTU of 1478, I'd get a default Rwin of 17256 without any TCPWindowsize setting in the registry. With Sp1 installed, the default was set to around 65000. After adding a 17256 TCPWindowsize to the registry speeds are back to where they were previously. With regards to the TCPIP max-half-connections limit, does anyone know whether SP1 RC1 is affected by this? I downloaded lvllord's TCPIP.sys patcher. When I run the program though, it tells me the current limit is 600.
  21. Installed ok for me, but my adsl speeds seem to be have affected badly. On my 512k connection I usually get around 478-480 Kbps down. With SP1 installed I'm generally getting less than 400 Kbps down. Removed SP1 and speeds returned to normal. Installed it again for a 2nd time, and the same symptoms.
  22. Acronis do a server version of their backup product True Image, but I don't think it's on the cheap side.
