  1. Thanks Nuhi, that's great news. I want to reduce Vista's footprint but I didn't have to have to worry if an update to Vista would break something.
  2. I've been playing with Vlite and I really like what it offers us, but I am wondering how it effects using Windows Update. For example, if WU tries to update something that has been removed by Vlite, what happens? Or do most people who use Vlite not use Windows Update?
  3. I have grown interested in creating an unattended install file for Vista because it would seem to be an excellent way to automate settings that I currently would have to apply when manually. However, I am stuck because I don't have a DVD burner and it would seem that you would need one since the WAIK download rings in at 992MB. Is there any way to mount the img file you get when you download the WAIK? I have a 2GB flash drive, so I would be able to save the contents of the image file once it was mounted. If it helps, I am running Vista x64 right now, but I do have the x86 media as well. Finally, is there a listing available of all the settings that the WAIK can make just using an answer file? Thanks everyone!
  4. When I fresh install Vista, there are certain settings that I always apply. For example, I always turn off System Restore, I always turn off Remote Assistance, I always set Windows Updates to manual; etc. What I am looking for is a way to automate these changes. Is this something .reg files would be good for?
  5. I understand that a command prompt is available from the Vista installation CD. Couldn't you just boot from the CD and alter things to your liking?
