I've been having this problem too - just happened upon this when searching for something unrelated - great luck for me - will be great to get rid of this - can I please just clarify where in the install I need to run the registry changes Acheron mentions, presumably RunOnceEx or something on first login?? And are they on their own enough or do I need other things too? (I'm using the HiveSys patch here to get 1024x768 during the install http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2274). Thanks

Thanks for your help Rick, I acutally checked there, but when I saw 1.2.3.4 I thought it must have been nonsense I think I've got the latest already. I'll wait for b3... I discovered the slideshow works okay if I drag it off the sidebar, so that's okay for now... cheers

Hi Rick, How can I tell what version of VAIO I've currently got? Is there a particular DLL whose version that will give it away? Also, on that link you posted, there's an installer for the Sidebar, was that what I should download and run? I'm a bit confused though because it says it requires VAIO b2, but you wrote VAIO b3 should solve my dramas....? Thanks mate

Geez, talk about laze... Nah, that's totally fair enough... I ended up integrating (using nLite 1.3 final) IE7 and hotfixes except KB928090 which I installed in RunOnceEX. I would've liked to integrate everything, but this seemed the path of least resistance. Worked perfectly and I've still got the show desktop icon on new accounts so looks like that part could be fixed in 1.3 final - but this would need to be confirmed by someone who'd previously found it to be missing....

Hi, my sidebar is working great! Thanks a lot for your hard work Rick. Just wondering about the SlideShow gadget though - it only shows the top left part of every picture, is this normal? I'd rather it shrank the picture to fit, how can I get it to do this...Thanks

I'd also like to hear some details on that. They also mention "fix: Show desktop icon (XP only)", does that mean we don't need to run the RegSvr32 step in your guide now Just_Laze?

So I'm confused . I'm running XP with IE7. WFP is disabled. I'm simulating RunOnceEx using: rundll32.exe iernonce.dll,RunOnceExProcess It doesn't work. I replace iernonce.dll with the IE6 version and it works fine. Next, I replace iernonce.dll with the version from KB928090 and test again. Again it works fine. This is what I expected, since it is an MS fix for this very problem. So again I ask, why all these complicated guides to get IE7 working. Why can't we simply integrate IE7, then integrate KB928090??? Is it a problem with the integration software? I saw just_laze mention on another post something about nLite not modifying iernonce.dll? Does anyone have any more information on that?

Quick question: if KB928090 includes a fix for this issue from MS (a new iernonce.dll), why is it that we still need to muck about with the IE6 version? Why doesn't it work to just integrate KB928090 after integrating IE7? Thanks
