  1. I reinstalled my HP printer, then ran HP Print and Scan Doctor, and now all of my printers are printing web-pages again. Starting to think the source of problem was the old Primo PDF printer I was trying to use. It 's just not compatible with the current web-pages.
  2. What other system would you suggest ? I liked Vista, but I'm starting to have problems with it I can't fix.
  3. Also , my hard drive is a 698 GB. Seagate ST375052 8AS SCSI Disk Device . And my NVIDIA GeForce 9100 has Virtual Memory 2048 MB. Thanks.
  4. I have a computer with Win Vista 64 bt. installed. Computer is a HP p6130y 64 bit. AMD phenom(tm) 9750 Quad-Core Processor 2.4 GHz. 8.00 GB ram. And NVIDIA Geforce 9100 , adapter ram 256 MB. , for video. Could my system handle Win 10 64 bit operating system?
  5. I was having problems with Windows update not connecting to Microsoft, and being unable to print any web-pages in Firefox or IE. So i did a complete re-install. I got all the updates up to SP2, and the new win update agent. Then they stopped. But that's another problem. Now I discovered that I'm still unable to print any web-pages in any browser, with any printer. I can print anything else, but not web-pages. Same as before I re-installed Win Vista 64bt. In Firefox, I received a " printing error" message box. In IE9 , I can't even select a printer, when the select a printer box appears. I can click on my selected printer all I want, but nothing happens. It just freezes up. Up until a few months ago, I can print web-pages easily. It seems like the web-page printing problem started when the Win up-date problem started. I did install Primo PDF converting before I tried printing the last time.(wish i would have tried printing with another printer before I installed Primo) But thinking there may have been a conflict with Foxit PDF converter, I UN-installed Primo but still no web printing. All of the internet help advice hasn't worked yet. Does anyone have any ideas how to solve this problem?
  6. I fixed the problem. Right click, properties, UN-block .exe file
  7. Thanks for your reply. I found the correct file, downloaded it, but when I click on the file it won't start installing,it just sits there.
  8. I need to up-date my post , I have a active X flash player installed On IE. it's the Firefox version that won't install. Thanks !
  9. I'm running Win Vista x64 SP2 . The control panel's Win update stopped working, so a few days ago I restored Vista to "factory condition" ans all available updates were downloaded and installed. But when I tried to re-install Adobe Flash Player, I found the Adobe install file would not start. Strange because I did have Flash player for Firefox and IE on my computer, before re-installing Vista. Then I saw this from Microsoft ..........................."You cannot run an application that is signed with a SHA-256 certificate on a computer that is running Windows Vista SP2 or Windows Server 2008 SP2" . The answer was to add this update "Windows6.0-KB2763674-x64" . But so far the stand-alone installer has been running for hours, and it hasn't even found the update yet, and it doesn't seem like it's going to. So what now? I hope that the "stand-alone installer" doesn't "hose up" the Control panel's up-date ability! When, about 8 yrs. ago I was working on a install disc for XP, I could down load complete update files, click on them and they would install. No "stand-alone installer" needed. Can you still get complete, ready to install updates like that? Feedback will be appreciated.
  10. Whenever I attempt to watch a web-page video, with flash player , on Firefox, the adobe box pops up asking me to allow or deny the content provider to store files on my computer. Then mouse pointer immeaditly "crashes", the pointer starts to rapidly flicker. Then the buttons on the adobe pop-up become un responsive. I can't select either option. And I can't navigate to another web-page, I can only escape by shutting down FireFox. I have a Win Vista SP2 64 bit computer, and the latest version of FireFox. And the latest Adobe versions. I also have IE9 which I also update. But since Adobe changed the way it updates I wonder if the 2 Flash Player versions are interfering with each other, because i never had any problems with the old 3rd party downloads. Any ideas what the problem is ?
  11. I have the 64 bit Win Vista SP2 computer. When I'm in IE9, and I click on a link, a web-page in Firefox, which is my default browser, opens up. This is making it almost impossible to update and verify, the different versions of Adobe Flash Player. When I click on run and install it goes to FireFox which dosen't use active x. And making other problems when I want to stay in IE while browsing. This never happened in my old Win XP Pro Sp3 computer. But I like Vista and want it to work for me. Any suggestions ? Thanks.
  12. I have a older Dell Win XP Pro SP3 computer which I connected a external Seagate Free Agent Desktop drive to hold audio/video files. Which has worked well for a number of years. Recently a Friend gave me a HP computer with Win Vista SP2 installed. This computer has a single internal SATA hard drive. I would like to hook up, by USB Port, the external seagate free agent drive to my newer Vista computer, and transfer some audio/video files to the SATA hard drive. But I'm concerned about possible hard ware "clashes" between the 2-computers. So I would like some feedback on this issue. Would there be any risk of a computer crash, or loss of data ? Feedback will be appreciated.
  13. Hi Everyone, The other day I recieved that e-mail from Citi-bank saying I needed to click the e-mail link to log on and change my password. Of course I didn't, because Citi-bank dosen't send such e-mails to debit card holders. But when I tried to log on, from their web-page, I found that my password/user name no longer worked. I called them, and they re-set my password. And tonight, when I tried I clicked to log on my Net-Spend debit card web-site, I recieved a download pop-up, asking me to Run or Save some sort of Font file. I knew something was wrong so I cancealed, which means I couldn't log on. This happened with Internet Explorer 8. But when I used my Opera browser, the suspcious download pop-up didn't appear, and I was able to sucessfully log on via Opera. I was afraid some sort of malware was in Internet Explorer 8, so I used Revo to totally un-install Internet Explorer 8 from my computer. And I won't re-install tell I get some answers. I ran both a Malwarebytes and a AVG scan, but nothing turned up with either scan. Any ideas what sort of malware could be trying to disrupt and steal my log on info ? And how could I go about detecting and removing it ? Feedback will be appreciated .
  14. I just ran Windows scan-disk, with a nlite disc which includes the SP3 up-date. My original install disk is only SP1. Anyways, "Event Viewer" showed that had many "failure to copy needed files" type error messages. Here a few of them............... " Event Type: Information Event Source: Windows File Protection Event Category: None Event ID: 64021 Date: 5/11/2012 Time: 5:04:01 PM User: N/A Computer: LEOLIVER Description: The system file c:\program files\movie maker\ could not be copied into the DLL cache. The specific error code is 0x00000000 [The operation completed successfully. ]. This file is necessary to maintain system stability. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.Event Type: Information Event Source: Windows File Protection Event Category: None Event ID: 64021 Date: 5/11/2012 Time: 5:03:03 PM User: N/A Computer: LEOLIVER Description: The system file c:\windows\ime\imjp8_1\applets\ could not be copied into the DLL cache. 15. I'll try the procedures on the links you posted. Here's the web-page where I saw a warning about a OEM Recovery Console.......My link , see the warning in the summary section.
  16. Thanks for the warning about removing Acronis drivers. Maybe I was lucky I didn't remove them because I've no back up to restore to.
  17. I was told that, because i have a OEM computer , if I boot into the Rcovery Console, I won't be able to get out of Rcovery Console. Something about the passwords.
  18. I have Win XP Pro SP3 on my Dell 4550 Dimension computer. I recently had to UN-install Acronis Disk Director 10.0 and Acronis True Image Home 10.0 because TI 10 was no longer working properly, The I re-installed both products and found that TI 10 was still not working well. Which concerns me because computer back ups are very important. I used Revo to UN-install , but it seems that 2- Acronis drivers were still on my system. The Acronis "snapman" and "timounter" drivers load when my computer boots, I've used "Auto Runs" software , "device remover" and "device manager" to disable or delete them , and when I reboot I always get the screen which says to boot to "The Last Know Good Configuration". Despite the fact that I UN-installed all Acronis Software , these 2 Acronis drivers remain and my computer will not boot without them. I downloaded the "Acronis clean up utility" and it failed to remove the 2 drivers. I tried booting into "Safe-Mode" , but the 2 Acronis drivers loaded while booting to Safe Mode. While in Safe Mode , I used "Auto-Runs" to disable them, re-booted and my computer went back to the "The Last Know Good Configuration". And after rebooting to the "The Last Know Good Configuration" , I always find that the Acronis drivers are installed and re-enabled . I posted this problem on the Acronis Forums and received no replies to my post , which is why I'm posting here. So my problem is I can't perform a clean re-install of Acronis TI 10 back up software , to back up my computer. Which means now I have no back ups. Does anyone know of a way I can remove these 2 corrupted drivers and still boot into Windows? I have a slip-streamed Windows install disc that I made with Nlite. Would performing a repair install remove these 2 drivers from my computer? Replies will be appreciated !
  19. Thanks for your reply. I was confused about this.
  20. Thanks for your reply. I checked the locations you mentioned and I found that 2-years ago I used the Product Key without the letters OEM in the key. My original SP1 install disc, that Dell shipped with my computer, has a OEM folder so that would probably be enough info for automatic activation. I hope anyway.
  21. A few years ago, I made a Nlite slipstream for a Windows repair install. But I sort of forgot some of my settings. I have a Dell Dimension 4550 computer, that Dell sold to me. At that time it had a Win XP Pro SP1 operating system. And I used Nlite to slipstream to a SP3 install disc. Now my question concerns which Windows Product Key i should use on a new install disc. I have both a Generic Windows Key, with OEM in the number. And a Actual Product Key , which displays no OEM in the numbers. Which of the 2-numbers should I use on my new Nlite build ? And how can I find out what settings I used 2-years ago with my last nlite build? Are the settings displayed some where when I restart Nlite ? Feedback will be appreciated, because I'm going to have to perform another repair install soon.
  22. You can find more information to resolve this issue at KB317541. Thanks for your reply , I went to the web-page you suggested and followed it's instructions on disabling auto up-dates for root-certificates . I got a feeling that action will solve the problem. A few days ago , I posted another topic about Win up-date using so much RAM that my computer became non-responsive. And the auto up-dating for the root-certificates may be the cause of that issue.
  23. I'm running Win XP Pro SP3. Lately I've been receiving a lot of these error messages in event viewer : " Event Type: Error Event Source: crypt32 Event Category: None Event ID: 8 Date: 8/20/2010 Time: 9:47:02 AM User: N/A Computer: LEOLIVER Description: Failed auto update retrieval of third-party root list sequence number from: <http://www.download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3/static/trustedr/en/authrootseq.txt> with error: This operation returned because the timeout period expired. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp." Can someone tell me if these could cause problems with Windows up-dates ?
