  1. Intel SGX PSW 2.16.100.3 removes support for RS2 and before, so 2.15.100.4 is the last release that supports 1607. Besides, Intel Management Engine Drivers 2141.15.0.2511 is the last release that supports 1607, because 2216.16.0.2805 also removes support for RS2 and before. Therefore, Intel Lunar Lake processors only support PAVP on RS3 and above.

Bluetooth driver 22.130.0 and 22.140.0 trigger error code 37 on 1607. Fortunately, new Intel Graphics drivers such as 30.0.101.1191 fixed DirectX 12 support issue on 1607, but it seems that 30.0.101.1340 and 30.0.101.1404 have refresh rate and audio problems with PowerDVD 20.

  2. I updated to 512.78.

The DCH display driver package contains NVIDIA Control Panel application. To launch DCH version of NVIDIA Control Panel for the first time, Internet connection is required, and WU, Windows License Manager Service, and Microsoft Account Sign-in Assistant should be enabled.

I don't know how to install standard NVIDIA Control Panel and Container along with DCH display driver. The standard NVIDIA Control Panel is still compatible with DCH driver, so users of non-DCH driver can launch standard NVIDIA Control Panel from Windows Control Panel.

  3. The list of recently installed drivers.

    BIOS Update [FNCML357] (FN0053)
    Intel RST driver (18.1.6.1039)
    Intel Graphics DCH drivers (27.20.100.9466)
Intel Network Adapter driver for Windows 10 (25.2)
Intel Wireless Bluetooth driver for Windows 10 (22.70.2)
Windows 10 Wi-Fi drivers for Intel Wireless Adapters (22.70.0)
ITE Tech CIR driver for Windows 10 64-bit for NUC 10 Kit (5.4.5.0)
USB Type C Power Delivery Controller for Windows 10 64-bit for NUC (1.0.9.7)
Genesys Card Reader Driver for Windows 10 64-bit for NUC 10 Kit (1.1.14.0)
Realtek HDA driver for Windows 10 64-bit for NUC Kit (6.0.8950.1)
Thunderbolt 3 Legacy driver for Windows 10 for NUC (17.4.77.400)
Intel SGX driver for Windows (2.13.100.2)

    Chipset INF Utility (10.1.18383.8213)
Intel Serial IO driver for NUC (30.100.1947.3)
Intel Management Engine Interface driver (1937.14.0.1350, for DELL Vostro 3590)

Intel RST driver 18.x requires version 1703 or later, so I modified the INF files. 18.0.1.1138 may prevent Bluetooth driver from loading.

Intel Graphics driver 27.20.100.9664 and later no longer support DirectX 12 on 1607. Besides, 27.20.100.9415 has laggy UHD Blu-ray playback issues.
    (27.20.100.9664 still supports DirectX 12 on 1709)

I can enable Thunderbolt port by disabling VT-d in BIOS. Although it is possible to install Thunderbolt 3 DCH driver with modified INF files and update the firmware to version 62, Thunderbolt service is unavailable because 1607 does not support extension INF. After uninstalling the DCH driver, registry cleanup is required before installing Thunderbolt 3 Legacy driver, so I don't recommend installing the DCH driver.

  4. The Steam patch of NieR:Automata released on July 15 supports Windows 10 and Windows 7/8.1. But 1607 is not compatible with the Windows 10 game patch and gets stuck on a black window, so I have to run Windows 7/8.1 version.

PSO2 New Genesis benchmark and FFXIV: Endwalker benchmark work on 1607. Besides, Windows cumulative update removes Flash Player and its control panel from 1607.

  5. I am using inbox VGA driver.

I tried VBEMP and the SVGA driver few years ago. I need to open MS-DOS command prompt window, so VBEMP is not a perfect solution. Unfortunately, the SVGA driver from Windows 3.1 results in graphical glitches because the OS is Traditional Chinese version. If I have different motherboard, maybe I can run the emulator at SVGA mode with Integrated Radeon R7, but it is not my purpose.

  6. I tried to compare GeForce GTX 1660 Ti and Radeon R7 Graphics again by running DOS version of Zsnes.

Integrated Radeon R7 supports VESA2. It also supports VGA, SVGA (crashing), and SXGA (supported legacy video modes).

GeForce GTX 1660 Ti can't initialize VESA2. It supports SXGA (HDMI) and QHD (Displayport). I can open MS-DOS command prompt in full-screen mode, but the workaround does not always work.

  7. When I tried to launch an MS-DOS command prompt window in Windows 98 SE, my screen went blank. I could restart my computer by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del, so the OS didn't freeze.
I didn't notice the issue because I can boot to command prompt without problem. And I guess other modern GPUs may have same issue because 32-bit operating systems are no longer supported.

I can open MS-DOS command prompt window with old integrated Radeon R7 Graphics (Kaveri).

  8. I tried to modify U0368764.inf in Radeon Software Adrenalin 21.6.1, but Windows 10 version 1607 crashed during installation. However, it seems that latest AMD HDA device driver still works.

  9. Internet Explorer 11 desktop application will be retired on June 15, 2022 for certain versions of Windows 10. And Microsoft Edge with IE mode is officially replacing IE 11 desktop application.

It seems that IE mode will be supported through 2029.

  10. You can run 32-bit and 64-bit programs on 64-bit Windows 10, but you will spend more time installing cumulative updates, so you may need a reliable solid state drive.

Microsoft offers Intel microcode updates for Windows 10. However, Intel no longer fixes vulnerabilities for your CPU. If you can uninstall the microcode updates offered by Microsoft, you will find your answer to the performance problem. If you think the performance hit is not acceptable, you can install the firmware update for Intel ME without applying the BIOS update.
