  1. For what it's worth, I suggest you check out dxdiag from Start->Run (type dxdiag in here). Make sure you have enabled 3D acceleration! I actually forgot this in a recent install of windows, when i had installed the video drivers i couldn't believe i had overlooked something so simple!
  2. I don't understand why people like you are baffled - i've heard this comment so many times from supposedly computer-savvy people, i'm beginner to wonder if the notion of windows 2003 being faster than windows xp (as a workstation os), is true!
  3. It's okay, scrap that - I fixed it. I had removed 'Active Directory'. It even says that the Local Users and Groups option would be removed, if this option is selected for removal. Well, easy when you know how, I suppose!
  4. Hi, can't believe I can't find anyone else who had this problem on the forum, but I was making my own lite version of windows server 2003 sp1. the stripping seemed to go ok until after i had installed it to a fresh partition, I couldn't access the 'Local Users and Groups' section in Computer Management. The icon has a red 'X' over it and when i click on it, it says 'Could not connect to local computer '(whatever the name i set it as!)' - the error was: Unspecified error'. As a result i am unable to add users to the system! Help! At first I was thinking i made a little error in nlite, did i remove this function? No, so I redid the image and decided to change a couple of things. I also changed other stuff like windows update i ripped out this time, and disabled a couple of shortcuts i forgot to get rid of in the start menu, namely windows update and windows catalog. So then i burned the image and tried again - but the same problem remains! I have checked and double checked but can't seem to find anything i removed that would have anything to do with this, unless it is something from the network i removed (namespace objects, hide computer name on network); i had previously made a lite image successfully with no problems at all. So what is it I am doing wrong? Am I using a wrong version of the .NET framework? (because this time i am not using one i downloaded from the nlite site - perhaps i should do this?) Please help! Thanks in advance.
