I have a problem with removing folders when working offline with a laptop. It is no problem to delete files but when you try to delete folders you will get a error message like this.

The folder cannot be moved to the Recycle Bin because the My documents folder is offline.

Do you want you permanently delete it?

If you answer yes to the question you will get a new message like this.

Cannot remove folder This operation is supported only when you are connected to the server.

Client is XPSP1, Running in a AD 2003.

I had the same problem and solved it.

First install Recovery Console or boot with BartPE.

Then delete the contents of the CSC Folder in the Windows directory.

Everything is clean again.

The problem is that tihs appears for our sales team at the company, which are almost never inte office, and get the errors qwhen trying to remove folders offline. What i need is a solution which makes it possible to remove folders when you are offline.

Can you verify if your solution is permanent, or if this has to be done frequently?

Do you know why it happends, so it might be prevented in forehand?

the solution wich I told you is for offline usage only.

You have to delete the CSC-Folder on every CLIENT with the issue.

If you manage every share on your w2k3-file-server to prevent creation of offline-files and disable the offline-file-usage in your client-ou-policy, the problem could be prevented premanently. But it is more difficult when you have mobile and fixed clients who need roaming profiles and offline files to decrease network traffic.
