  1. File transfer works but I have had zero success with listening to audio streamed to a bluetooth headset. The Bluetooth Audio device is there, but setting it as the preferred audio device stops the sound from the computer speakers without strating sound from the bluetooth head set. Initially I tried Blue Soleil software, both with the supplied disk (1.6 I believe) up to the last 98 compatible version (2.1.0 I believe) but it didn't provide a Bluetooth Audio device. Using Widcomm I indeed have a Bluetooth Audio device, but it yields no sound as just described. The usb bluetooth key is an Integrated System Solution, firmware 500. Any suggestions? Thanx.
  2. Blue Soleil refused to give me a Bluetooth Audio Device. Widcomm does. But I can't managed to get any sound out of it. Anyone meet with successs usind Widcomm or Blue Soleil?
  3. PIM FREE - Spicebird (spicebird-beta-0.4.en-US.win32.installer.exe) works with the kernel project 3.6. One may need to put spicebird.exe=1 in the bottom category. Beta 0.7 doesn't work.
  4. The solution of putting the 5.50 files in \Windows and registering them as a very unpleasant consequence (verified on two systems). Every folder that you enter defaults to a Large Icon view and, far worse, the option in Toools - View - make all foldders Like Current Folder no longer functions properly. You can set folders one by one to some other and its remembers the change to some extent, but this is sadly a deal breaker for me. I have not yet fully experimented with the 5.50 files as straight replacements in the \Windows\System folder. With the 5.50 in both \Windows & \Windows\Sytem and with the registration still going to \Windows the problem persists.
  5. Thanx for starting this much needed list. Notepad2 is broken insofar as anything that you copy to repaste elsewere is not in fact available to be pasted. Instead get Notepad2 version 2.0.12 ANSI which doesn't need the kernelex (you may need to use the waybackmachine with http://www.flos-freeware.ch/zip/notepad2_1.0.12.zip to get it). Calcplus.exe from XP works, although if installed via the calcplus.msi (as opposed to simply copying the binary), Orca must be used to edit the launch conditions. Media Player Classic Unicode [HomeCinema] works with the addition of psapi.dll in its directory and the exclusion of the program itself from kexver.ini (seems strange to me). Media Player Classic Unicode 6.4.9.1 works with the exclusion of the program itself from kexver.ini. MS Paint works as advertised by Tiniy. And according to Tihiy: "Google Picasa 3 beta runs very well". "Charmap from XP" and "Adobe Acrobat Reader 7 (with minor problems)". Winamp 5.35. works but I am not sure that it needs kernelex in the first place (it is not in my kexver.ini in anycase).
  6. My "Send to" functionality has been damaged. Initially "Drag and drop" stopped working too but it was restored by revisiting option 1. The problem arose via the installation and, ultimately, the forced deinstallation of option 3 (ME explorer, shell32, etc.). The deinstallation failed. I changed the files manually. Next I edited the the option restore .bat file until I could get it to run to fix the registry setting. That almost returned things to their previous state, with "drag and drop" and "sent to" remaining as problems. Afterward, option 1 fixed "drag and drop". The exact problem is this: although "sent to" desktop works, send to Notepad (I put the shortcut to it in the send to list) or any other program (again via a short cut) fails. Putting Notepad or any other program in the send to list itself (i.e. elminating the shortcut) does not help. The functionality works perfectly on my other machine that has only had option 1 applied. Any suggestions as to what the problem is and how to fix it? Thanx, cure PS I have been using this killer replacement on other machines for years now and it is great. Many thanx!
