is the network set to automatically assign ip addresses via DCHP. Have you tried a static address? To do that you would have to: Instructions when running XP 1. Find a computer that works with an ip 2. Open the network connections folder on the computer with an ip 3. double click the computers network adapter (that's plugged in) The status dialog should have come up 4. choose the support tab 5. click on the details button 6. note the ip address, subnet mask, default gateway and the dns servers (there should be two) then on the computer that doesnt work 1. open the network connections page 2. right click the adapter 3. choose properties 4. 'This connect uses the following items:' box scroll down till you get to the 'Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)' box 5. Click on it once then click on the 'Properties' button below the box a dialog should have come up 6. then click on the radio button that says 'Use the following IP addresses' and enter all your noted addresses (ip address, subnet mask, default gateway and the dns servers) 7. with the ip address to prevent conflcts change the last set of numbers to 255 (e.g my ip harvested ip was 10.1.1.23 i would change it to 10.1.1.255) apply the changes and try the connection if it doesn't work try the end ip of 254 post back if that then still doesn't work
