  1. Thanks bon that'll help. and my laptop is a.. i dont kno its a year old and cost $1200 starting (scary to think specs on my laptop would cost around $600 now ). but im stuck at 1gig max...i woudl rly like 2 gigs just to run smoother and everyhting but w/e. Is there any other way to speed upa laptop? I mean nothing TOO extensive and i heard overclocking is bad for laptops cuz no enough cooling (plus i dont wnat to risk it on my laptop i need this to last thru college! lol). so is ther anythign i can do to speed it up besides RAM? im getting RAM sometime this weekend.

  5. Hey okay as we all do been tyring to get by school blocks and stuff like that sooooo i checked out the running processes and did research on each these were the ones that seemed to draw a red flag. DF5Serv.exe --This is associated with Deepfreeze, a program that restores the original files to the computer every time the machine is restarted. FrzState2k.exe -- this is another associated w/ deepfreeze, not sure why thers 2 but some programs hav a lot, panda antivirus on our school comps has like 8 processes running. WM.exe -- This one seems wierd but lemme kno: The process listens for or sends data on open ports to LAN or Internet. wm.exe is able to monitor applications. . able to monitor app's...if u dont want ot be monitored then is this one to close or does that not mena wat i think it does? and lastly: zenrem32.exe -- this one is zenworks remote management, would be good to be able to close this down so admins cnat intrude and take over wat ya doin.... but odnt want to totally mess something up sooo? Thanks just let me kno if comp may crash due to closing any of thsoe processes

Okay, just got Microsoft XP Home on both my laptop and my desktop, but now that I am officially sick of the recurring microsoft problems and crashes, etc, and don't have the $ for an apple, I need to makea backup of both my desktop and my laptop. How can I do this? I got nero, but that backup doesn't seem to be a bootable in fact i dont think its a good oen at all.... and it didn't even work on my desktop just hte laptop. Soooo what should I do, hopefuly withOUT spending money!
  9. WELL: i bought windows XP the real version not just upgrade. and I put it in, and it started but then i got the blue screen of death! session3_initialization_failed GRRRRRRR then at bottom says technical info: ***STOP: 0x0000006F (al;ksjdf;alksjdf;lkjasdf;lkjsadf lots of #'s and stuff mostly 0's...) wats goin on here!!!?
  10. i thought it was but u guys r right: on box it says its an upgrade disc... GAH! and i dont have any backups or anything...
  11. Okay so for some reason my computer decided to crash today not a good day considering just got bak from a good dinner of thanksgiving. anywayz, i turned it on and got the classic problem with the OS black screen and said to reinstall or fix or watever. SO, i restarted and did the f2 for recovery. it went through and formatted, THEN was reinstalling and got to the part where it was installing the applications and detecting hardware and stuff, and each time i tried it stopped at same spot--50% (and not just once or twice like... 3 or 4 times!) SO I found a full on windows XP disk and put it in. got it doing the setup, but not wher it actally installs. i just got it installing then while reformating the stupid P.O.S. decided to freeze up at 3% (not bad computer i dont kno...). so i restarted the computer and booted from CD and now it goes to windows setup (blue screen) and at bottom does 'setup is ....' and wher i put ...'s it puts a buncha things flickering all over the place. THEN: i get this screen wher it says 'to set up win xp now, press enter.' 'to repair a win xp installation using recovery console, press r' and 'to quit setup...' i press enter and do f8 for approval. then i get the stupid thing thats driving me nuts: the disk is ALREADY IN THE DRIVE!!! I press enter it just goes straight bak to this page!!! i dont kno wat to do and im dying here...
