  1. Problem still occurs with latest nLite and latest RyanVM Pack.

A little more ionfo would be helpful here. We already said that it works for us. Did you try manual slipstream? Did you check to see if the files are even on your CD both before and after the slipstream?

  2. I solved the 1st problem. The missing device is the floppy controller. Since I don't have a floppy drive i deleted it but my mainboard needs the driver for the controller to be shown correctly in device manager. :thumbup

Is there a way to run a "patch.exe" file (under unattended install) which is basicaly a consolidated registry patch, by using nlite's runonce function? The above stated method does not work for exe files.

I can't seem to find much totorials on nlite's runonce function. Is there a good site which has examples you guys can recomend? Thanks in advance.

nlite's runonce function puts everything into guirunonce in your winnt.sif so use the unattended guide at unattended.msfn.org and find the part on guirunonce.

  3. i removed outlook with nlite long ago, always have but now i really need it cause activesync will not install without it apparantly which i need to have installed so i can link my pda

i downloaded ie6 which is the only download i could find that has outlook express in it, but it says i already have newer IE6 installed

    what can i do?

Best bet is to remake the CD with nlite with outlook installed, and do a reinstall of windows. Unless someone knows of some other way to get it back, but I doubt.

  4. The reason it says there are unattended options is because your original CD apparently has some preset unattended options.

Is your CD an original retail CD or did your CD come with a computer purchased from somewhere like dell or hp?

The answer to that question may help us to figure out the other problems.

  5. Hi Everybody,

I just downloaded Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 , then "nlite" software ( http://www.nliteos.com/guide/ ) and on the frist attempt Nlite successfully slipstreamed a SP2.exe file into my Dell OEM Windows install disc ! ( by success I mean that their were both a SP2.cab file and a win51ip.sp2 file in the slipstreamed file )

This was after a lot of failures using "Autostreamer" , Bart Pe and using run commands to integrate the install/update files. This made me very happy that my attempts wre finnally successfull!

This success came from using different software ( nlite) but I wonder if using the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 in the background (instead of Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 ) also contributated to the successfull slipstream ?

    Any ideas?

Thanks again for all your helpfull replies!

The framework 2.0 is not used by the other programs, just by nlite, so it was strictly nlite.

  6. How about:

Control Panel | Network Connections | Local Area Connection | Properties | Show icon in notification area when connected = yes

    I second this one!

    !!!!!!!!!!!!

EDIT: After doing a little research, this might be a little more difficult to do. The key on my machine is:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Network\{4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\{9C512CF9-22C5-4B77-A438-ED351CFFB9B4}\Connection]

    "ShowIcon"=dword:00000001

and the 2 sections in braces are unique to my machine, so I'm not sure if it is possible to get the id's especially if someone were to change the NIC after install.

  7. Hi Everybody,

I have had many unsucessfull attempts with integrating my Dell OEM Windows install disc with the SP2 updates. I have tried Autostreamer, Bart Pe and a run line command to attempt integration without any sucess. By sucess I mean the "finished product" showing either SP2.cab files or WIN51IP.SP2 files.

Is there any chance nlite would work when the other methods didn't? Has anyone had any experience with that?

One more question : Why does nlite require a microsoft net frame work update to 2.0, if I have the 1.1 net version on my computer? Are there any potential problems from going to 2.0 framework from a 1.1 framework?

    Thanks!

I dont see any reason why the SP2 hotfix shouldnt integrate manually, however nlite may do what others cant.

nlite was written in .net 2.0 which is why the 2.0 framework is required. There are no known problems as 2.0 is backward compatible with 1.1. You can get framework 2.0 from microsoft's website if that makes you any more comfortable.

  8. It would be nice and helpful for others if you were to share what the answer is.

IE7 calls home for updates, and that is it as far as I know. It may try to do something more on corp or non-genuine windows versions but I'm not sure.

  9. can anyone do this for me?

Unfortunately, no, because each individual version of windows is tied to the hardware it is installed to. However if you want to try to learn, people here will be glad to help you, and there are plenty of guides on using nlite on this forum and others.

  10. It is MCE, so I assume you have 2 original discs (disc 1 and disc 2)?

Before nlite-ing, you need to copy the contents of disc 2 to the same folder as you copied disc one (so they overlap).

It is MCE, but all the contents are on one DVD, not on two CDs. I copied the entire DVD into a foler.

ok, could you post the txtsetup.sif file in the i386 folder of the modified CD? Please attach it, do not paste it. Thanks

  11. But I already answered...it's to make it better, more sleek...but as every new thing it could broke, that's why we have betas.

Popups...well those black screens when it's deleting a file or something similiar, you may notice them in older nlite versions during Registering Components or at the first user logon. Also nhelper can delete used files and stuff like that. I can add whatever is needed in it and it's written in c++.

If you need to do some modifications for every new user account you might as well use some Group Policy logon script. These scripts are run automaticly at logon for every user, plus completely hidden to the end-user. These scripts are saved in Windows\System32\GroupPolicy\User\Scripts. No need for any helper dlls

Just to clarify, as far as I can tell, the nhelper that nlite uses is an EXE, not a DLL..

  12. Hi,

I've created a nLited edition by myself. Everything's just fine.. but my wireless adapter can't connect to the wireless router. The broadband is turned off, so i click on "change the order of preferred networks" and create a preferred network. When i added it next time it's not there. And it cannot connect to the router. It says "acquiring network address" and nothing happened. When i also press properties on the created preferred network (before disappearance) windows restarts explorer.exe .

Anyone knows why this happens? Which service i did stop? I just attached my session file - aaa.ini

    Thanx in advance

  13. After going through the normal Windows reformat and install dozens of times I finally got sick of installing all the drivers, hotfixes, etc after every format and then customizing my install as well. So I found nlite in hope that it would allow me to make one disk that has all of this already included in the install to make reformatting much simpler. I started with my Dell Windows XP MCE Service Pack 2 OEM disk, and openned nLite. I integrated the RVM update pack for the hotfixes, and inserted a few drivers as well for my install. I also used the registry tweaks and went through all of the services list to save me time after the install. After going through all of the customization options I wanted to burn it to a disk. Knowing the possibility of an error, I burned it to a black CD-RW on a low speed. I first did a test burn, which worked perfectly, and then did the real burn with verification, which also passed perfectly. However, when I go to use the disk to reformat it goes through the entire format process fine, but when it goes to install windows it gives me a BSOD and says this:
The following line in the .SIF file used my setup is corrupt or missing:

Value 0 on the line in section [WinntDirectories]with key "307."

Setup cannot continue to quit setup press F3

I have tried several different things to get it to work, including taking out my drivers, and different tweaks and stuff, but every time I get the same error.

Can anybody offer some help as to what would be causing this?

It is MCE, so I assume you have 2 original discs (disc 1 and disc 2)?

Before nlite-ing, you need to copy the contents of disc 2 to the same folder as you copied disc one (so they overlap).

  14. i dont know but this might be QEMU? did u try VMware

Actually, it is possible. Since whats happening right now isnt actually affecting any disks, have you tried just rebooting with the disk in (and hitting any button to start setup) and see if it does it there too?

It seems strange that the image would be written incorrectly.

If it does the same thing when you run setup on the real machine, try making the ISO with the mkisofs engine in nlite instead of the default one.

  15. Could you now attach the "Last Session.ini" from the root of your CD? It almost seems like there is a file it is trying to load during the driver load phase that isnt coming up.

Also, could you open a command prompt, navigate to the i386 directory on the CD, and then type:

    dir > C:\dirlist.txt

I put them both in the same zip file.

Thanks for looking at this for me.

Ok after looking at both files for what I thought was the problem, I have one thing to say: ARRRRRGH!

Could you walk me thru the process up to the point where it gives you the error? Basically I want to know the very last thing that appears on screen before the error occurs. It may be something at the bottom, like loading some driver, heck if you can get a screenshot of it in a virtual machine, that would be even better.

  16. Crap! I meant to ask for txtsetup.sif. Please attach that one lol sorry.

    Here it is.

 There's a LOT of info in that one file, isn't there? I've had to zip it up so I could attach it.

OK, I just compared your modified txtsetup to mine, and I see no major differences. Could you now attach the "Last Session.ini" from the root of your CD? It almost seems like there is a file it is trying to load during the driver load phase that isnt coming up.

Also, could you open a command prompt, navigate to the i386 directory on the CD, and then type:

    dir > C:\dirlist.txt

then attach that file as well. You will probably have to compress the dirlist.txt too as it will be quite large.

    Thanks

  17. I need Help 4 integrate all driverpacks into xp with DriverPacks BASE, after add display message line limit is xxx lines.

Hi, and welcome. I think you might get more help from the driverpack forums, as the driverpacks base needs to be integrated with the driverpacks utility, not nlite.

    Sorry

  18. well, guys.

how can i insert the framework 2.0 in my nlite windows?!

if i try to insert the normal framework exe it displays an error when integrating :/

    http://www.doitrightconsulting.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=132

First post has a switchless silent installer and instructions for integration. Personally I use the package called "Microsoft .NET Framework V3.0 and Visual J# 2.0" and I have no problems using v1.0, v1.1, and v2.0 .NET Framework packages.

  19. So lets say I put the "registrypatch.reg" file inside a folder called "patch" at the same level as I386,DOCS ect...

the line I should add to runonce is "regedit /s patch\registrypatch.reg or regedit /s d:\patch\registrypatch.reg?

    My system spec:

    MSI K7N2 DELTA2-LSR Mainboard

    AMD Sempron 2800+

Kingston 2X256MB and Hyundai 1X256MB DDR Rams = 768MB Total

    Inno3D GForce4 MX 440 SE

Asus Hybrid TV Card (I belive this is not the problem as I have taken it out and the unknown device still appears)

I have also attached my LAST SESSION.INI

Thanks alot for the reply speeddymon

I wouldnt advise trying to do it from the CD, as the CD's drive letter can change, depending on how you partition, and what you do in nlite. I would put it in $OEM$\$1 and then make the line "regedit /s C:\registrypatch.reg"

  20. How do you regsiter fonts as defaults?

    Edit,

O I see what you mean, yea that method does work, however...

You have to reboot before the fonts you specify come into effect.

The whole point of this post is to point out ways that will apply personal fonts unattended, and so they're applied on first boot.

hmm.. that is a problem.. the only way then is to modify the msstyle or theme file, as even with a tweak in nlite to apply the default fonts, once the theme is applied, they will be overwritten.

  21. Off Topic:

This reminds me of a question I had for you nuhi

Q-What do you use to convert your Reg files to INF?

lol i know about reg2inf rick, but I dont like the idea of having to import them as an "add-on", as I often times find myself not importing addons to figure out if they are the cause of some problem I am having with integrating something.
