  1. Ok I did a second test, without the Windows Defender or the Multi-theme addon, and it worked. SO I am going to conclude that the themes is what makes it not work? Would that be safe to say?

    I agree. To double check, look in the multi-theme addon archive for a file called cursorb.*

  2. some final things id like to change, if u could help me it would be great:

    how do i add a language do keyboard?

    and how do i set my net configurations?

    is there any way to change is that "my computer" would be first icon?

    also, there is anyway to edit the quick launch icons?

    1) In Unattended>Regional>Language Groups I think

    2) In Unattended>Network Settings

    3) I use Powertoys For Windows XP (TweakUI XP) Desktop>First Icon

    4) Not sure what you mean

    1) if i choose a none english keyboard, ill still have both the none english and english langauges?

    2) ive tried that, but those setting ive made doesnt seem to exist when setup if finished.

    3) i want to make is automatically so i wont have to install powertoys.

    4) i ment for the quick launch on the task bar

    Are these things you want to do after installing, or on the CD itself so they are done while installing?

    on the cd itself ofcourse.

    For 3, import this regtweak at RunOnceEx

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{450D8FBA-AD25-11D0-98A8-0800361B1103}]
    "SortOrderIndex"=dword:00000054

    Double check the settings you make in nlite for 2, they should work fine.

    The others I dunno

  3. Hi All

    Ive been reading through all the posts and tutorials but im a bit stuck as to this driver. When installing windows I have to push F6 to install a RAID driver and install it from floppy drive. I no longer have a floppy drive so I need to intergrate this driver into the installation but cant get it to work.

    Can someone either show me or make me a addon for this driver.

    It is the XP 32 bit driver here:

    http://www.promise.com/support/download/do...;os=0&go=GO

    Thanks a lot everyone

    Did you try using nlite to integrate the driver? It does everything for you.

  4. iecore is the exe found in windows/system/iexplorer?

    No, the IE core is built into files like shdocvw.dll and shlwapi.dll, etc files in system32. To just get rid of iexplore.exe from your source, then remove the Internet Explorer component, but NOT the IE Core component..

  5. how do we know it has all updates.

    RyanVM's pack is updated monthly a few days after MS releases updates. His site has a list of what updates are in the pack, so all you have to do is check the Microsoft website for what came out in the most recent month, and then look to make sure that that patch is in there.

  6. was looking for this but cant find it.

    or can someone tell me how todo it

    Please search before posting. If you did, I'm sorry. Download the original installer from Microsoft, or if you are using a non-genuine Windows, search the forums for "IE7 softpedia" without quotes, and one of the posts has a link to it from softpedia. Then using nlite, add the IE7-WindowsXP-x86-enu.exe just like a regular addon pack, and nlite will integrate it.

  7. What if you work in a corporate environment with a Corporate VLK version of XP and just want to nLite the version that you roll out to user's desktops so that you can start with a fully patched and updated installer sans nuisance items like the Windows Tour, MSN browser and that annoying animated search dog?

    The nlite license explicitly prohibits that kind of usage. Unless you can provide a valid reason to nuhi, I dont think you could get his permission either. The main reason behind this (as far as anyone knows) is because even though EU's will call Desktop Support, nuhi doesnt want any liability for lost money from a company due to something that may or may not be his program's fault.

    I could completely understand that. Personally I'd call it like it should be: At your own risk :D

    I agree, but for the most part the heads of big companies don't see it that way. Sure they will fire the person responsible for putting the system in place, but then they will go after the person who wrote the system as well.

  8. Double check the language of the Windows you are installing and the language of the patches you are installing. thats the only thing I can think of.
    Save one language neutral update (KB893803 - Windows Installer 3.1), all the updates are in the original language (Brazilian Portuguese). :(

    I'm keeping all languages

    It might be a INTL.inf problem, but how does it change and what causes it to change?

    I dont honestly know. Is your live messenger installed with windows, or after? Perhaps the version of live messenger doesnt support cyrillic like it should?

  10. I took my original CD and make a few minor changes as a base to work tests off of (hereafter caled the Unattended CD). Basically setup unattended, removed a few components (languages, keyboards, tablet pc, media center, extra folders in the CD root), enabled the Uxtheme patch, disabled SFC, and integrated the one theme that I use, Royale Remixed. Then I burned it to a CD, and left the source on my hard drive.

    Then I made a copy of it (so I dont have to copy from the CD each time), added my addons, setup tweaks, and left the rest alone, this one I'll call the fully tweaked CD.

    When I finished installing the fully tweaked CD in MS VPC, everything worked, except for the theme. It loaded Windows Classic for the windows and taskbar, however the icons, background and cursors applied. When I looked at the display properties, the preview showed the same way that it does when you try to load an unsigned theme with an unpatched uxtheme. So I reloaded the fully tweaked version in nlite and looked at the patches page, and the uxtheme patch option was grayed out (as if the patch was applied).

    As a quick test, I copied an unpatched uxtheme from my hard drive to the i386 folder of the fully tweaked cd, reloaded nLite and went back to the options page. The uxtheme patch option was able to be changed again.

    Is it possible that nLite is unpatching the file?

  11. Actually that is not true. You can use OEM versions of XP with various PIDs for each manufacturer with those keys, or so I am told. So you can have a dedicated XP OEM disc that works with HP, one for Dell, etc, etc etc.

    That is true, but what about white box machines you service?

  12. Hy!

    I've downloaded IE7 nlite addon from couple of sources (here, winaddons.com, ...) which all are swtichless installers and they integrate with nlite without a problem but when I install my xp there is still IE6. I tried with couple of switchless installers but same thing is happening. When I check in I386/svcpack folder there is IE7 installer but it doesn't install after. All other installers integrated same way work but IE doesn't. Only IE7 addon that I found and is working for me is the one from http://sereby.german-nlite.de/index.php?cat=addons but this one is in German language and there is missing Internet Options from Control Panel. There is icon in place where Internet Options should be but no text and it can't be opened.

    I don't know what else to try. I'm using latest nlite version and my xp is corporate version. I've read on this forum that these addons are working properly on corporate version but I can't get them working. :(

    I need help or some advice on how to get this working. TIA!

    Download the original installer from Microsoft, or if you cant validate, go to http://www.soft32.com/Download/Free/Intern...er/4-997-1.html and let the file automatically download. Then just load up the IE7-WindowsXP-x86-enu.exe into nlite just like any other hotfix.

  13. alrihgt well its english for language so the ini slims everyhting down so i dont have to do anything?

    Someone can send you one, but it depends all on what you want to take out. Some people take things out that others want to keep, and some people keep things others want to take out.

  14. I don't believe that you can sell modified Windows, only OEM vendors which have agreement with Microsoft are allowed to.

    So the answer is no.

    I dont want to sell modified windows. I just want to use nLite to streamline the format/resinstall process when repairing PCs.

    This will not really help you because you have to use the customer's XP CD in order for their install to be legal. The product key on each CD is unique and tied to their activation code, so if you use one CD (even if you use their CD Key), the product key will be on multiple customer's machines, and windows won't activate.

  16. What do you mean by "gui mode (PNP)"

    GUI Mode (PNP) means the driver used by Windows itself, not the driver used by the TEXTMODE part of Setup..

    Basically I want to know if I integrate the txtsetup.oem into my CD with nlite, will Windows use the driver, or do I need to load up the inf file again (from a different folder) in order for the controller to be installed in device manager?

  17. The original CD was a Dell XP cd that has had Corporate VLK guts overwritten onto it then slipstreamed to SP2 manually some time ago.

    That is the problem. When you overwrite an OEM CD (that requires activation, even if done transparently to the user) with a Corporate CD, you are bound to have problems. I would try using nlite on either the original VLK CD or the original Dell CD. nlite can remove anything the Dell CD has on it that you dont want, and can slipstream SP2.

  18. Try to see if the DHCP service is running, on my last nLite'ed instalation by some reason unknown to me the DHCP services was disabled (didn't change any service status ehn making the disk).

    I could be wrong, but I dont think that DHCP would cause all of the errors above. Settings not being saved, and explorer crashing? Maybe but I dunno.. Just my 2 cents since I ran outta ideas after the wireless driver.

  19. I've tested this in 1.3RC, 1.3beta, and 1.2.1 stable and it's the same outcome with all three.

    Situation: Using a mapped drive to a samba share (permissions 777, owner: samba user) that contains the xp sources.

    Outcome: Using the latest AutoImage, RVM and DPB integrate just fine, nLite doesn't do anything. It just closes after "Preparing Selected Tasks". The nLite log only shows the settings I used, no errors. Using the EXACT same AutoImage ini I integrate the same sources, only this time they're located on a local drive and it works splendidly.

    ::edit::

    forgot to mention that if I reopen the sources with nLite after it fails, it complains of a broken nLite something or other (basically stating that it didn't work on those sources)

    Other notes: Originally I put the source installation files onto the samba share from the server itself...this resulted in my linux box account being the owner of those files, which made nLite complain that there "wasn't enough space" when selecting the sources (this behavior was the same in 1.2.1, 1.3b, 1.3RC). So by copying the source files to the samba share from my windows box, my windows user (effectively samba user on the linux box) was the owner of the files and could change permissions (such as removing any read-only flags). That is why I believe it threw the not enough space error.

    Possible Causes: Samba user was not the owner of the containing folder in which the source files resided...possibly this is what made nLite unhappy? Perhaps this is isolated to samba shares on linux servers? It would be interesting to see if someone experiences the same issues when working with a samba share hosted on a windows box...

    The one thing you didnt mention (except in the title, which is why I am asking) is whether you tried this with an actual mapped drive that has a drive letter on your machine, or just a samba share that doesnt have a drive letter..

  20. i want to request for few tweaks

    i make my windows instalation customized for my needs sot the twaek reqests are

    1) add a option that alows you to change the boot screen

    2) add option for changing the logon screen

    3) option to set your own walpaper

    4) move the themes section to new one whit the uper tweaks called "custum UI" (for the noobs : User Interface )

    1 and 2 are very unlikely to be implemented

    I agree, and same with 4. If you want a custom logon screen, all you do is delete logonui.ex_ from the i386 dir and then put the one from your system32 folder there (if the one in system32 is the logon screen you want).

  21. Then tried to find the line(s) wherever \D: is located, instead D:\ which is supposed to be;

    it's was available in TXTSETUP File as,

    [setupData]

    SetupSourcePath = "\"

    MajorVersion = 5

    MinorVersion = 1

    DefaultPath=\D:\WINDOWS

    I have changed the above to,

    [setupData]

    SetupSourcePath = "\"

    MajorVersion = 5

    MinorVersion = 1

    DefaultPath=D:\WINDOWS

    and

    Still the same error remains during installation on MS Virtual PC.

    I am a newbie, help me!!!

    Did you remake your ISO after you did this change? MS Virtual PC won't pick it up if you did not remake the ISO after making even this minor change.
