  1. Thank you very much for all the responses! What I'm trying to do is hide all the device ID's from end customers/users and disable and access to device manager. It's very easy to do in XPe and looks a little bit harder in XP. I hope that make sense.
  2. I tried that and it wouldn't work. Any other suggestions? Thank you
  3. Hi All, Does anyone know how to disable device manager page in Windows XP Pro? Thank you in advance.
  4. Hi, I hope someone can help understand why every time I use sysprep my Intel Network drivers are being discarded after reboot? I'm using mini-setup and tried already -pnp switch. All the other changes I made(UI,registry) are bing stored properly excepts Network drivers and settings too, Thank you
  5. This might a stupid question but I'm new to sysprep. What version of Windows XP(VLK or the one that customer buys) should I use to create a standard image? I'm trying to create standard image the will be deployed on customers machines? Thank you,
  6. Hi All, Hope someone can help me out. I'm new to sysprep and trying to create a standard image to be deployed on multiple machines(same hardware on all of them). After I run all the additional tasks I want to reseal my system and store the image on the network This is what I've done so far. I have I standard copy(standard meaning the one that usually comes form OEM) of Windows XP Pro installed on my reference hardware. I've installed all the hardware drivers and software. Now I need to install all the updates but I can't because my Windows need to be activated. My questions: How can I install all the updates without activating my image( again I want y customers to activated them self and go threw Mini-Setup)?or do I have to activate Windows. Which option should I use in sysprep so the images don't expire? I work for OEM so we have access to all versions of Windows, which one should I use? The Volume License or the one that customer would buy with system Thank you
  7. Hi, i need some help with a project that I've been working on for a while now. I'm trying to use WinPE 2.0 to install Windows XP. In my old setup I was using network share with different configuration sets for XP Pro, Home, MCE. I was booting form a WinPE CD and unattended setup with Sysprep. The most important thing was to install the OS and have t start in the Factory mode. Now I'm using WinPE 2.0 on a USB Thumb drive and i was able to install XP Pro unattended but I can't figure out how to install it so it starts in the factory mode. Any ideas? Thank you.

  9. Hi All, I have a network based (configuration sets) distribution setup for VISTA. Everything seems to be working fine exepts I can't get the oem logo to be displayed in the system properties. This is how my autounattend.xml (part of ..) looks like: <settings pass="specialize"> <component name="Microsoft-Windows-Shell-Setup" processorArchitecture="x86" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="nonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> <ComputerName>Owner-PC</ComputerName> <OEMInformation> <Logo>\\networkshare\opktools\vista\oemlogo.bmp</Logo> <Manufacturer>Company name</Manufacturer> <Model>Model</Model> <SupportHours>8:30 - 6:00 EST</SupportHours> <SupportPhone>Phone</SupportPhone> <SupportURL>URL</SupportURL> What am I doing wrong? Thanks </OEMInformation>
  10. Hi, I'm using UFD based WINPE2.0 for my network based Vista installation. I know that the only file that I need with my PE UFD is the autounattended.xml (and of course the source files for VISTA). I would like to do the same thing with XP. I mean I would like to use network based Configuration sets to install XP and use the WINPE 2.0 like I do with VISTA Is this possible? Thank you
  11. Hi All I'm running an unattended network based installation. I have created a folder for my OEM-supplied driver (PNP folder) that is being copied automatically. Now, my problem is -I'm using a sysprep and I would like to remove the driver folder automatically when I reseal my system. How can I do it? Please help. Thank you
  12. Hi All, I'm trying to figure out how to automatically add and remove folder where I would store drivers in my pre-installation. This want to do: I have the network share setup and all my computers are running installation thru a network share. I would like to add a folder that would include all the drivers that I need to complete the installation. After installing all the drivers and application i would like the PE to remove the folder automatically when I reseal the system and send it to the customer. Is that possible? How can I do it? Thank you
