i also hv a sony vaio z series. if u reinstall from the CD pack sony gave u it automatically configures it to one partition.

u know this will probably p*** u off. i hv the same motherboard i hv two seagate 160 sata drives. i just pop my xp dvd in and no problem. a little hint the sata is controlled with a intel chip, xp pro comes with those drivers already. xp installs normally. - without bashrats driver pack - without greenmachines guide basically, The only thing i had done to my xp dvd is slipstreamed sp2, installed all the hot fixes and patches. pls check that u hv the latest bios, and check your settings. even at default my drives install ok as well. are u also using raid?
