  1. Hey All, I'm all done with the unattended CD now, but I'm having a few problems when it comes to installation. Basically, the install runs fine starting off with the BTS 'fake' setup, and going into the real setup. However, once the install gets to the 'T-13' stage, it seems to take an absolute AGE to install the addons I integrated (~20-30 mins) this seems like a long time to me but perhaps its just because of VMWare. Anyway that's not a huge problem, what is however is that when the install reaches 'T-12' it just seems to hang. According to the MSFN Unattended Timeline, this is where it's executing 'cmdlines.txt' CMDLINES.TXT [Commands] "ROE.exe 937" "RunOnceEx.cmd" "rundll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection nLite.inf,U" However I've used this same cmdlines before and it worked fine. I have a feeling the problem is to do with my 'RunOnceEx.cmd' (see attachment) I'm sure I've made some silly syntax error or something thats bogging down the whole installation but I'm not entirely sure what it is. If there's anything else that needs checking I'm open to suggestions, if anyone's interested here's the order and stuff I integrated: Boogy's Windows Media Player 11 Streamer nLite (RyanVm Update Pack, Addons, Unattended, Component Removal, Reg Tweaks, Patches) DriverPacks Integration Vista Transformation Pack Integration Custom Files (msgina, winntbbu, ntoskrnl, ntkrnlmp, logonui) ISO Creation (nLite) RunOnceEx.txt
  2. Well I did manage to get it fixed in the end, if anyone else is interested. The value for transparency on 'FramCaptionSizer.bmp' was 0 0 0 (black) because the old theme had thin title bars, All I needed to do was change that to 255 255 255 (white) and it all worked perfectly!
  3. Another Late nighter Well I'm pretty much done with the unattended CD (mainly thanks to members of this board!) and the final part, the visual style, went almost without a hitch Basically, the Vista theme by Windows X was really nice, the only thing I didn't like was the rather thin title bar, as I'm used to the thick one. I loved the style of the Zune theme by microsoft so I basically used StyleBuilder to nick the Zune titlebar and stick it in the Vista theme. This went off without a hitch however I have a ridiculously annoying problem now. Basically, since the old vista titlebar was thin, the 'edge' so to speak of the window was lower down than that of the fatter title bar of the zune theme. So when I switched the title bars, I thought I'd followed it exactly to the settings in the zune file, but apparently not. Now every time I try to move a window with my new theme (by click dragging the title bar), the cursor turns into the double headed arrow and instead of moving the window, resizes it!! I've searched and searched the Zune TEXTFILE bit where it tells the theme where to put the images, but I can't for the life of me figure out what's wrong. If anyone with more specialised knowledge of building .MSSTYLE themes or using StyleBuilder by TGTSoft resides on these boards, I'd greatly appreciate a prod in the right direction!! Note that I can't attach the theme file as I haven't gotten permission to edit Windows X's style and releae it to the public (I will of course be using my modified version for personal use only). TIA, // Xeijin
  4. @war59312: Thanks I didn't know about the RD command @jbm: I did try that out but it didn't seem to work for me?? Doing pretty much the same thing as it was doing before. @Yzowl: Thanks Yzowl this is the script I'm using now Even more useful as it seems to delete it for other users as well!! Though I have no idea what it's doing, it seems to work! Thanks Again, // Xeijin
  5. I'm trying to create a Batch File that will perform a few cleanup operations such as deleting shortcuts/log files etc. However I'm having a few problems, the batch file dosen't seem to be doing anything. I have a feeling its to do with my IF EXIST statements and using more than one in the same instance, but after some googling, I've been unable to find a solution. I'm sure its pretty easy but I dont think my google search terms are picking it up. Another problem is deleting the 'install' folder and subfolders, with the del command I'm able to delete the folder and subfolder contents, but not the folders and subfolders themselves! It's pretty late, and I'm sure I'm missing something simple, but I'm stumped right now I've attached my cleanup.bat file incase anyone can help out. // Xeijin cleanup.txt
  6. Sorry only just got to try this, thanks again yzowl its all working now!
  7. Yeah was just about to mention that, all good now though I've narrowed the problem down to nero now, I had a hunch as nero was the last program that came up in the window when installing the apps. So REM'd out the lines that install nero in RunOnceEx and hey presto everything else suddenly appeared. I thought it might have been a problem with the switches, that I'd made a mistake somewhere, but I don't think this is the case. I tried starting the installation from a cmd window using the exact same set of switches as in RunOnceEx.cmd (copied and pasted the nero bit) and it installed perfectly silently, but won't do the same thing when running from RunOnceEx!
  8. Thanks, Cluberti's method works perfectly now! // Xeijin
  9. Oops, thanks for the heads up Yzowl, it seems I forgot to take it out, luckily it only had 1 download, so I guess your the only one that has it Thanks I'll try that a bit later on and get back to you, I'm using the RunOnceEx CMD Creator program so it's all been generated. I'll try your new and improved script however and get back to you! Thanks, // Xeijin
  10. I'm not sure what you mean by clicking apply theme, Mine does it automatically Basically, I used the bit where you can add themes in nLite, then clicked the button that said 'Insert all Local' and deleted the ones I didn't want. Then I made the one I wanted default by choosing it in the box that says Default next to the themes. Then when I tested it all worked perfectly, on first boot a little box appeared which said 'Applying Theme' or something like that and did it all automatically wallpaper & visual style. Hope That helped, // Xeijin
  11. Hi phkninja, Sorry I should have explained it better: The error is a critical one, and is basically saying that it can't find "C:\Program " which I'm assuming is because of something to do with the space in between 'Program Files'. // Xeijin
  12. I'm having a spot of trouble with the %programfiles% variable. I'm trying to use it to update the virus definitions after Symantec Antivirus 10 Installs, during RunOnceEx "%programfiles%\Symantec AntiVirus\VPDN_LU.exe /S" /f However, the problem seems to be that when it comes to executing this, Windows has trouble with the space in 'Program Files' (which is obviously where %programfiles% resolves to) I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, like missing a quote or something but quite frankly I'm stumped, and I'd appreciate it if someone else could point me in the right direction TIA, // Xeijin
  13. Hi Yzowl, My RunOnceEx.cmd already has the backslashes in the correct places, it seems that the Invision Board is parsing them or something?? Anyway, I've attached my RunOnceEx.cmd as a txt file incase anyone wants to take a look. (See Original Post for Attachment) // Xeijin
  14. @xtremee I think what they mean is what news do you want to be in your newsbar, you say that you want it to automatically update with the news, which news would that be? 1. News about your site and latest updates. 2. Real World news (i.e. BBC News, CNN, Fox, Sky etc.) If its option 1, then there's no way to automatically add the data without input from you, you can of course make things easier with using a mysql database and form system to input the updates, but at the end of the day someone will have to add that data. If its option 2 you want, with just general news, than this is very easy to do and does not require you to do anything once you have made the basic script, just google including an RSS feed into your webpage, you should get a few results, then all you do is use the tutorial and substitute the RSS feed with the one of the news site you want. Hope that cleared things up! // Xeijin
  15. Hi All, I have a NETGEAR DG834GT Router. After a bit of messing around with URL Injections, I managed to find out how to connect/disconnect via. URL: Disconnect http://192.168.0.1/setup.cgi?todo=disconnect Connect http://192.168.0.1/setup.cgi?todo=connect It works perfectly when doing it manually, but as you might have guessed this is pretty cumbersome, and I disconnect/connect quite a few times in a day! Basically I'd appreciate some help in making some sort of script which would: 1. Initiate a DISCONNECT 2. Wait for 3-4 Seconds 3. Initiate a CONNECT Preferably I'd like to do this with Javascript or something do-able from a browser rather than an external program, as I'd like to somehow have it so that I could press a button linked to a bookmark or something in my browser of choice which would initiate the procedure. I was thinking that this might be possible with something like JavaScript, but I really have no idea how this would be done. If its possible, something like going to a certain page stored locally or something, and as soon as you goto the page the whole thing starts and then the page automatically closes itself when its done? All of this in the form of a button in my browser linked to a bookmark or something which I can conveniently click. If its not possible to write a quick script or something for me, I would greatly appreciate a prod in the right direction for something specifically related that would help me. TIA, // Xeijin
  16. I agree, there are many different ways for them to find out what Service Pack your using. Simply changing the name won't do much. Also, SP2 just offers alot more than SP1 (Security enhancements, Pop-Up blocker etc.) I don't really see why you wouldn't want to install it.
  17. Okay, I've been reading up alot on the unattend install thing, I'm pretty new to it as all I've done before is slipstream SP2 into my original disc source. It seems a bit confusing to me though, even after reading the tutorial on unattend.msfn.org. So I'm trying to see if there's an easier way than the RunOnceEx stuff (frankly the batch files thing confuses me quite alot). Basically here's what I want to do, Windows XP SP2, with all current HotFixes Create a fully unattended setup with no input from user. Remove uneeded components Completely Customize Disc (Billboard, OEM info in System Properties, Choose Default Startup Style/Wallpaper) Custom Registry Tweaks Integrate Chipset, LAN, GPU (ATI) & RAID Drivers. Install some programs at setup (Opera, Nero etc.) I have a general idea of how to go about doing most of that (nLite seems to cover it) but as far as Custom Registry Tweaks and Installing programs are concerned, I'm at a loss. I think the Driver Packs thing should cover integrating drivers. It seems that Custom Registry Tweaks have something to do with the RunOnceEx batch file, though I'm still confused as to how they are imported etc. As for custom programs, I am under the impression that they need to be modified in some sort of way either with a switch or something else, also it seems that the order in which they are installed in setup seems to matter too, I know some people have packaged these programs up already, but there are some programs which I use not available like that. How would I go about doing this for my own programs? What I'm looking for is a program, or combination of programs which will let me handle the above tasks. I'm looking at AutoImage and nLite, but I can't find anything about registry tweaks in them. I also have a few other questions: Is it possible to change the colours of the text-mode setup? Is it possible to make windows stop displaying the non-WHQL Drivers pop-up in setup? (for my RAID Drivers) Can I just install a fresh copy of windows, then apply all the registry tweaks I want, and make a custom registry tweak file out of this? Can I use some sort of registry tweaker for my custom registry tweaks? I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me out with this, TIA! // Xeijin
  18. I think he's trying to avoid using external programs, as he's creating a stripped down windows xp. I don't think there's anyway to do this internally with XP, but removing internet explorer will mean you don't have a browser, perhaps that could work.
  19. I have one other question, I did a search and couldn't find anyting so... Is it possible to change the colours of the text and background in the textmode installation? TIA again.
  20. Sorry I can't believe I missed that, my mistake thanks!
  21. Hello There, new here I was just wondering if it would be possible to customize the colours/images on the GUI install of windows (i.e. when its file copying) if your not sure what I mean have a look at this: Would it be possible to change the images on there and furthermore change the text that windows shows about the various parts of the operating system? TIA if anyone can help! Cheers, //Xeijin
