Hello all, I'm new and have a few questions for those with strange and unique powers in the realm of Windows. I've gotten excellent information from the parent site, so I thought this would be a good place to ask.

I've been trying to construct a complete WinXP installation disc. I define complete as including the operating system, all updates/patches, WMP9, DX9, etc.

I've created cds with the service pack installed. After that, I started reading MSFN.org trying to create one of the "complete" cds.

I've edited the model batch files and .sif file to match my needs, etc.

My questions are:

1. Can you put the .sif file on the cd rather than a floppy? I'd like to have everything on one disc.

2. Where on the installation cd do I place the batch files and hotfixes?

When I take over the world I will give Australia to the person who answers these questions.

yes u can put it on the CD make sure its says winnt.sif

you place the batch files and hotfixes

in

.\$OEM$\$1\batches and hotfixes

there are numerous numbers of explanations on this site

I didn't bookmark them so just go ahead and use the beautiful search function

or maybe some admin will help redirecting you

winnt.sif goes in the i386 folder

Your batch files can go anywhere after \$OEM$\$1\

eg: if you put them in \$OEM$\$1\install\batch.cmd

then in winnt.sif you would have this under [GuiRunOnce]:

%systemdrive%\install\batch.cmd

Australia? That's all. I don't know if that's enough.

But anyway, some people that know of www.MSFN.org don't necessarily know about the entire tutorial on how to create a complete cd.

Read about it here. If you have read that already, then you bypassed some information. It tells you how to add applications and where to keep them on your cd as well as what to do with your 'winnt.sif' file and all that good stuff.

I appreciate the responses. I think I've gotten it pretty much figured out.

Apparently I don't have the ability to see the phrase "Finishing Off" the first 47 times I look at a website.

Thanks, guys.

Ok, it installs everything fine, but when I restart I get this:

"A problem is preventing Windows from accurately checking the license for this computer.

Error Code: 0x80004005"

Any suggestions?

Did you accidently add an update for Media Center Edition which fixes an activation problem? Installing this on a non-MCE OS will cause that error.

Aaron, you're a freakin' genius. When I take over the world, feel free to ask for whatever you like.

Seriously, though... thanks. You guys have been a great help.
