CptMurphy
Do you have the drive shared? What drive are you trying to access? Are you prompted to enter a username and password? Have you tried connecting to the administrative share?
eric6556
it's a spare drive i have attached to my laptop through a usb hub and yes the drive is shared. i am not prompted to enter a username or password. i am able to access the share drives with no problem. just now i tried setting up another drive and it takes forever for the name of the computer to show up when i try to map it. once i do, it sets up the network drive but again it gives access denied.is there a way to remove the network setup i did on my computers and start over again?thanks. eric6556
***RESOLVED***ok i gained access to the drive i had the problems with. i looked under security in the shared drive that i was able to access and basically added the same access members to the drive i wasn't able to access. however, instead of adding them one by one and checking to see if i was able to gain access, i added all that were listed. i'm not sure if all are required for access purposes so i'm going to remove them all then add them one by one to see what one (or maybe all) are required. thanks everyone for your help.
