hi, i am trying to install win xp on laptop after full format. the setup starts, loads all the files and then displays a massage that no hard drives could be found.

*when i boot the computer with boot cd i can see the hard disk, format it, and whatever else, but windows setup cannot see it. (not even 98 or me)

is anyone familiar with this?

Could be a number of things--first thing I would check is BIOS settings.

If your laptop is fairly new, you probably need to load the drivers for a Sata disk when prompted at the beginning of the install ("Press F6...").

yes, maybe this additional driver can be downloaded from your official website of your laptop

the sata disk aren't recognized by win xp pro, but with xp pro sp2 they are recognized. if not result, you need a driver for sata support of the motherboard
