pcandpc
Hello?I just replaced an ethernet adapter, butthe device manager still shows an olderadapter even though I uninstalled an olderone and refreshed the manager. So, what I did was just updated the newdriver (replacement adapter) in the olderadapter driver settings. This works fine, but I want to completelyremove the older adapter drivers/tracesfrom the system. How can I do this? Thanks.

rendrag
have you rebooted since uninstalling it?Is the card still physically in your computer? Edited May 23, 2007 by rendrag
pcandpc
Hi,Yes, I have rebooted, and the replacementadapter is in the slot. And, the device manager shows the replacementadapter with some #2 at the end of the description. Is this normal? I thought the adapter should identifyitself without any numbers at the end.I am thinking this may be as the older card andthe replacement card have the same chipsets, andthe replacement card may pick up an older driver. As a matter of fact, I double checked the replacementadapter's driver, and it appears that the driver is forthe replacement adapter. But, how do I ensure that the device managerreports the true replacement adapter, not the older one? Thanks. I think what rendrag was asking is if the old network adapter is still in the system.
