horrgakx Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 Hi. I'm trying to install WinXP to a SATA drive but I've got stuck. I've studied the guides as best I can but I have to ask for help now.Initially, using a vanilla WinXP install CD, the initial installation works fine until the system reboots to continue the GUI setup. At this point it stops with "Operating system not found" (or similar). From what I've read this smacks of simply lacking the SATA drivers. So, I was recommended nLite. I created an ISO using nLite but I still get the same issue. The steps I've been through are; 1) incorporate SP2, 2) Unpacked and included the nVidea nForce4 WinXP SATA / RAID drivers when nLite asked for them. It is worth noting that I just accepted the defaults when it was asking me about the drivers (unsure about textmode etc).A screenshot follows below showing the drivers that it picked for me. I have to hold my hands up here and admit to being lost with this. I'm not sure it helps but its worth attaching.PS - it is worth noting that I'm well prepared to do patching and updates when the install is complete, I'm not looking for a 100% up-to-date nLite ISO - as long as the blooming thing installs I'm happy System is;ASUS A8N-SLiGigabyte X700 PCI-EP3800+ AMD2Gb RAMSamsung SATA drive
bledd Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 from the nvidia drivers (6.86) extract them, then point nlite at the "ide\legacy" folderthe legacy folder contains the drivers (use them as textmode)
