the creator Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 Hey people who are using ATI Mobility cards. I just started making my own set of ATI Mobility drivers and i finally decided i might as well share them with the world. I have a website <temporarily removed> that has the most recent version available for download. If you guys could please tell me what you think of them that would be great. They also come with ati tray tools and i may release them as a switchless installer here too. Let me know what you think SmileThanks,The Creator

Zxian Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 I'm not sure if this would be considered self-advertisement... so I'm going to remove the link for now. You've only got 2 posts so far, but the concept is great, and I'd be up for testing and supporting this.Help out a little more at MSFN and you can put the link back up (at least 10 posts). If you want, you can even ask for help in the programming section on how to make a NSIS installer for the driver files (it's simple, lightweight, and compresses the files for you).
MadBoy Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 Zxian: i wouldn't say self promotion is bad as long as it hits the topic of the section. And in this case as the guy actually wants to promote drivers he did and to help the community. I would say go ahead and have the link here. ATI because of notebook manufacturers basically doesn't give users and option to use Catalyst drivers and with older laptops it's complicated to have drivers up to date. As i see it he wanted to help comunity by releasing his drivers? Shouldn;'t it be allowed. And he posted a link to external site as many of us do because MSFN isn't very friendly in terms on giving out space to users to post their programs on it, and in terms of drivers more space is required. So please bring back the link I'm sure ppl like me would like to have it
mr_smartepants Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 (edited) 'the creator' is asking for feedback on his installer. As such, the link should be allowed with the notice "work in progress".They are not ready for primetime. I've already advised him to state his sources (DH mod tool, etc.) I'm building a switchless installer that includes the drivers, ati tray tools, and the ati dvd decoder.Currently, my all-in-one installer runs fine for me from RunOnceEx or from desktop but fails at SVCPACK(T-13).I'm unsure if I can release the exe here since it contains the ATI DVD decoder (proprietary). MSFN tends to frown on that. Edited May 14, 2007 by mr_smartepants
Zxian Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 @MadBoy - While the concept does help the application installs section for MSFN, we'd like it if members had a little more than just their own work here. If the creator can contribute around here with more than just his own work, then his help is more than welcome. This has been the status quo for a while, and for many members.@mr_smartepants - Remove the DVD decoder and it'll be all happy.

Good to hear from a fellow vancouverite, i just noticed!Sorry about reviving an old thread. My laptop actually blew up and all i have had is my Linux box hence i have been unable to actually test the drivers. I did use the dh mod tool and changed some parts of the inf file. I plan on doing a rewrite as soon as i have my laptop working again but i have to solder some stuff in it and i still don't have the courage. As for self promotion, i see where you are coming from and i run a website my self and know what you are talking about and how it feels. I simply put the link here because i wanted feedback from more experienced coders and users on how to better improve the drivers and my knowledge of autoit because i am hopeless as far as making a windows installer at the moment. I do intend on being more active but all i have at the moment is linux on my box thus having no ability to participate except through what i do using wine. Sorry about the self-promotion and i know what it feels like to see it as a mod or an administrator. Thanks for the feedback and i do plan on reviving this project,The Creator Edited February 28, 2008 by the creator
