Hello

I was wondering if anyone has any information that could help me with my first unattended winXP installation. I have followed guides on the internet, and have so far created my answer file and named it winnt.sif.

I am installing winXP for the original CD and using a floppy disk with the winnt.sif answer file on it. I have config my system bios to boot from CD / HDD / A:. When the system starts I'm prompted to press any key to start the installation, and the same time I insert the floppy disk in the driver. The text based part of the installation completes successfully, and autopartitions the drive. Now once the text based part of the setup completes, the system reboots and boots to floppy and I get the system error, such as non-system disk, etc.

Anyone know a way around this.

Cheers

BOOT ORDER?

Hi JimbobUk

Thanks for your reply, but would you care to expand on this a little more. Furthermore I have looking around the Net, and it was mentioned on some other site that the floppy disk can be removed about after 1 min after the system has booted from the CD before the Text based setup begins.

If anyone could clarify this for my I would be very grateful. Does the floppy disk with the winnt.sif need to be in the drive for the whole installation process, or is the file read from the disk at the start and then the disk can be removed ??

Cheers
