XIII Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Quite some time ago, I asked how to keep DRM data (of WMA files I bought) when reinstalling Windows XP.Actually, after a lot of hard work it turns out to be rather simple:Backup/restore:all files in c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\DRMregistry key KEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{3DA165B6-CC41-11d2-BDC6-00C04F79EC6B}Apparently, that registry key stores the unique identifier of WMP.So, now I can start experimenting with nLite and Ryan's update pack again Any chance that retrieving the current WMP unique identifier (nLite reading it from the registry) and setting it in a nLite'd installation will be part of a future nLite release?
nuhi Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 While it is possible I find it little too specific...gonna think about it.Meanwhile make yourself an addon, it shouldn't be too complicated.
XIII Posted May 2, 2007 Author Posted May 2, 2007 Actually, I'm not sure whether I would use this functionality myself...I think I need to individualize WMP first, before using the identifier from the current installation. Thus, storing it in a .reg file (myself) which I manually restore will be just fine.
