Idontwantspam
Is there any way to have a warning or message appear before log on with Ubuntu? Something like the Legal Notice box in Windows NT? I'd really like to be able to do this.
bonestonne
a legal notice box itself, well, i don't think you could have a popup like windows has were you hit Control-Alt-Delete, get the message, then log on, but you can change the default screen from saying Welcome to something else.system>Administration>Login Windowwhen you're in there, click on the "Local" tab. Instead of saying Welcome, then it will have what you type..i dunno if theres a character limit or anything, but thats the closest i think you'll get.i just finished installing + customizing 7.04, but i'm pretty sure its the same in 6.10, maybe in 5.10, but i haven't used that one in a long time [just got into linux myself, and i was up late exploring]
Idontwantspam
OK, thanks for the info. I'll try that soon. Ubuntu's not my main OS, so I'm not in any hurry, and I'm waiting until I can get 7, and haven't had the time to get it from someone or download yet. Thank you. bonestonne
i started using Ubuntu about August...i also jumped on 7.04 as soon as it came out, its far more stable than windows on my machine, and even recognizes ECC and non-ECC RAM at the same time.helps a lot, emulates faster, and the only thing it keeps me from doing is printing, but i can use an emulated windows for that.
