:realmad: okay, i'm a noob here. but i build and repair pc's. here's my prob: got a friend's laptop. it has Vista. he needs XP for software issues. can't boot to XP disk because it won't see the hard drive. need to add a driver. guy @ the local repair shop told me to use nlite, add the driver. i did that. i only clicked to add the extra driver. it took 4 hours, gave me an error, and said my iso image was 10GB is size!!!!!!! what'd i do wrong? i used isobuster to put my XP files in a folder, only added the single driver. it seemed to add drivers for a solid 3 hours+! and the error said somethind about being over 248 characters long on too many foldrs deep. HELP! any help would be apprciated!

You need to use a legit actual, singular copy of windows XP. Not a all-in-one disk you got off of the internet or from a friend. Or you are using a VERY odd folder layout for your drivers folder.

Tell us in more detail what you did, we need folder layout and whether you copied the disks contents to the drive manually or had nlite do it, where you extracted the drivers to. You know that sort of thing.

Also please add (As an attachment) your last_session.ini file...

okay, i figured out the 1-liner. i tried using a genuine disk. but i did something wrong again. it found the driver i added and passed that point. but it said it could not find the EULA. so i guess i'll try again tonight without removing anything. but why did adding 1 tiny driver change the iso file to over 950mb? i had to burn it to a DVD. and on my first try, my 'last session' is an info file with nothing in it. where wqould i find the .ini file? again, i'm noobish to this program. i have always worked on the hardware side, and changing files in a program is a little new for me. i did browse the sticky's, but i was kind of trying to get this done ASAP. but i guess Murphy was right.... when all else fails, read the instructions!

well,my ini file was blank when opened with getdiz. also, i noticed when i start the process, it's adding everything from my 'my documents' folder also! i used a genuine disk, clicked explore, and copied all contents to a new folder. i then open nlite and browse to the containing folder. why is it picking up stuff from other folders? should i be selecting a subfolder? is there a setting i missed?
