JKT Posted October 16, 2003 Posted October 16, 2003 I saw a 10/100 nic for under $5 at comtechnetworking.com, and I was wondering if anyone here knew anything about that.
techguy21801 Posted October 16, 2003 Posted October 16, 2003 umm.. what brand is it? it doesn't look like any brand i've heard of here if you're gonna pay $5 for it these are a better brand
JKT Posted October 16, 2003 Author Posted October 16, 2003 I saw a 10/100 nic there for under $5, and I was wondering if anyone here knew anything about ComTech Networking. They were also showing some gigabit switches and nics, and I wanted to know if anyone had tried any of that out to see if it worked.I saw this at a site called comtechnetworking.com
ceez Posted October 16, 2003 Posted October 16, 2003 just go with brands that you know.just my 2 cents.
Crispy Posted October 16, 2003 Posted October 16, 2003 Most 10/100 nics are practically identical ...So the chances are good that a cheap networking nic will work just a well as more expensive one ...
Wicked187 Posted October 20, 2003 Posted October 20, 2003 That is not a thought that I would release to the public, if I had it. NICs are quite different. If it is a generic brand, STAY AWAY. They can become nice garage can accessories quite quickly. D-Link is a prime example... there NICs just burn out from use... Get Intel or 3Com, you will be safe.
MadMick Posted October 21, 2003 Posted October 21, 2003 I would have to agree with Wicked on this, you get what you pay for and the cheaper noname brands cause more hassle then they are worth.
