Programming Help Please?

Hey their Guys, I am a person who is new to this Programming concept. My career of course is to become a Software Programmer. I just wanted to start to learn programming own my own before I enter the Univeresty Level. I have heard a lot about Visual Studio By Microsoft.

For a guy like me, who is new to this programming business, what is the best way for me to start to learn Visual Basic Language. Also what version would you guys recommend. I really want to learn this Programming Business.

So if you guys can share your wise wisdom and your opinion on this topic, I would be really thankful.

Please, learn C# and save us from all these "I claim to be a programmer because I use VB" pseudo-programmers.
