Ethernet Controller.Device manager displays the Ethernet controller with a yellow ? and a yellow !.I downloaded and ran the ethernet drivers from driverguide.com. The cmd prompt displays NO ethernet adapter found or NO PIC slot found.I tried uninstalling the ethernet controller from device manager and then restart PC, but i get the same popup "found new hardware..." when the PC startsIssue 2:-Sometimes, the ethernet contoller is present but Network Connections shows "Local Area Connection 4".When you go to device manager->show hidden devices, I can see three ghost Ethernet adapters.I have to remove the ghost ethernet adapters as there is no IP address, gateway... etc available in Local Area Connection 4 and when i try to add the information a window pops up saying"The IP address already exist, there will be a conflict blah, blah.."Can someone please advice??Thanks.System Config:-Win Xp Home SP2512MB x 2 RAMIntel Pentium 4 2.4GhzIntel Motherboard, without onboard ethernet adapterAMDtek AN983 10/100 PCI Adapter
Jeremy Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Perhaps it's the onboard one enabled in the BIOS? You can also right-click on it in Device Manager, click Properties, go to the Details tab and select Hardware ID from the drop-down menu. Copy and paste that into Google and see what device shows up.
