Hi,

Can someone tell me if it is possible to remove service packs 2 from a Windows XP with Service PAck 2 CD?

I've done a search already and found nothing of help.

I need Windows XP SP1 because a driver i require will only install in a SP1 environement. I don't want to buy another copy of Windows, so want to hack my existing copy if possible.

Before anyone tells me to use a Windows XP Gold CD, I don¨t have one. I only have the copy that i purchased - Windows XP SP2.

Thanks

No. SP2 is integrated which means all the files have been replaced with SP2 files.

What sort of driver explicitly works with SP1?

I think the issue you're having is due to the fact that SP2 has native bluetooth drivers which are digitally signed of course, and therefore installed by default. I had to do these steps for my bluetooth driver.

Install your driver.

Go into your device manager.

Expand "Bluetooth Radios"

Select your device and go through all the screens to update your driver but when you get to the search and installation options select

"Don't Search. I will choose the driver to install" then click next.

You should see your driver in the list. Highlight it and click next, dispense with the "Not Signed" window, and finish installing the driver. After that it should work.
